The Tigers have reportedly agreed to terms with six of their seven arbitration-eligible players: outfielders Austin Jackson and Brennan Boesch, catcher Alex Avila and pitchers Doug Fister, Rick Porcello and Phil Coke.Agent Scott Boras confirmed to the Free Press the signings of Jackson and Boesch. Jackson agreed to a one-year, $3.5 million deal and Boesch agreed to a one-year, $2.3 million deal.Boras also represents Max Scherzer, who did not reach an agreement Friday with the Tigers. Instead, the two sides exchanged figures.“Usually, we are able to reach an agreement before we file numbers; in his case, we decided it was best to file numbers,” Boras said, adding that he still plans to continue talking to the Tigers in an effort to reach a deal before the arbitration hearing.Jackson was due a significant increase considering he hit .300 with 103 runs scored and 66 RBIs.“A player like Austin is a pretty rare player, a centerfielder that has the offensive capacity that he has and the defensive ability,” Boras said. He’s one of those players that is going to receive a high salary for a three-year player because of his unique skills, both offensively and defensively.”Boesch was received a significant increase. His overall numbers were factored in as well as his most recent performance. Boesch, 27, hit .240 with 12 home runs and 54 RBIs this past season, before he was left off the playoff roster. In thre seasons he has hit .259 with 42 home runs and 175 RBIs.“Brennan’s been working very hard,” Boras said. “He’s been working on making some swing adjustments. We’re looking forward to him competing.
