Online auction drafting: FA.com vs ESPN (1 Viewer)

I have heard mixed reviews on connectivity issues w/both. Otherwise as far as I'm concerned, flip a coin. Experiences/opinions anyone.....

(PS for anyone who hasn't already found this out, FYI mocks completely suck on EPSN and also FA.com unless you have a private auction)

Hi BigRed - I've only used the FA so I can't offer any comparison thoughts vs. ESPN. Is ESPN something you can do for a private auction or do you have to play in an ESPN auction league?

I don't think u can change the setting for ESPN... I did a public league the other night and it was alright; not bad for free.

My main beef with ESPN is that the nomination order is the same each round, rather than serpentine. Big advantage to those nominating first.

I don't think nomination order matters much at all until you get near the end and everyone only has a buck - then it becomes in effect a snake draft.

AC, as far as I can tell, ESPN leagues are free this year (there is some pay option for add'l "prizes" I think), so the auction draft part is too.

I have tried a few mocks on ESPN and connectivity-wise haven't seen any problems yet, but haven't seen any on FA.com either (they have been known to have this issue in the past). Hopefully we're in good shape either way.

Thought it might be useful to pass along names of the losers who purposely bounce around the ESPN site screwing up mock drafts. tee hee, giggle. :goodposting: Here are a couple I've seen offhand (their ESPN names):

Aubrey Tianello (but with a name like that can you blame him)

Tony Black

That and the lack of any commish control. I like the look and feel of ESPN, but FA has features that make it superior.

They're so cute when they purposely overpay or spend on their money on the top 2 or 3 guys (then leave). I can just see them chuckling at recess about it, the little dickens.

"Phil Brown" (ESPN account name "ballashockcalla")
