Orange is the New Black - Netflix series (3 Viewers)

anyone else having a timing issue with the sound on the very last episode? Ours is about 2 seconds off. It's like a Godzilla movie.

Was not a fan of the first season. Hyped and overrated.

The second season is really well done though. Made some strong moves and downplayed Piper/Jason Biggs. Lot of shows would not have veered away from established character so early.

Rosa, the bank-robber, was a great character throughout. Would like to see more of her.

Uzo Aduba who plays "Crazy Eyes" really deserves recognition. Type of performance where you forget that person is an actor. Different genre but like Bubbles in The Wire. Aduba deserves to be nominated across the board.

First season was a C+.

Second season B+/A-

Soso is OH SO!

Still kinda/sorta expecting this whole story to tie back to Piper's would-be inlaws. I think it was foreshadowed a bit when Larry described his parents as "very involved" in his life. I'm thinking his Dad's criminal law background set the whole story in motion, where he picked up a whiff of Piper's ties to Alex.

I did not realize that the trans woman does not play herself in flashbacks. I thought she took off the wig to play her pre-op self. It's actually the actress's twin brother.

Like many others, I liked the 2nd half of season 2 a lot more than the first half. Excited for Pepron to be full-time in S3.
Agreed on both counts.

I'm mostly interested how Nichols deals with that stack of drugs still in the vent. I get a feeling she's falling off the wagon in Season 3.

Woah, Sophia is a real woman (actress)? So it's a female playing a male playing a female? :mindblown:

I just finished S2 this week and loved it. I thought the ending was a bit unsatisfying though.

I hoped Vee would somehow get sent maximum security, and watch her freak out as she realizes the hell she'll face compared to Lichfield.
The CO's are hilarious, especially the fat guy with a mini-banjo :lmao: I can do without pornstach, they can fill his screen time with the fat CO and the electrician.

I don't care one bit about Larry & Polly, but I'm afraid they'll be recurring characters in future seasons.

Will we get more naked Laura Prepon in season 3? Hope so.

Pusay, Crazy Eyes, Kaputo and Pennsatucky were all very good. Vee was a bit cartoonish for me, but not too bad. I really didn't need to see her boobs though. :shudder:

Finished it up. I enjoyed S2 more or less as much as S1.

The Tucky/Boo scene in Ep 12 is great.

I know this isn't a very popular opinion, but I don't think it had quite enough Piper.

Fans and critics love the show because it tells the story of so many people that don't look like Piper.

Seems like a lot of the fans and critics seem to underrate and even dislike Piper because of this. Almost like fans of a band resenting the bands big commercial hits.

Problem is that Schilling is an amazing actress, and to me, Chapman is the most interesting and important character on the show. She's a worthy lead for a show that doesn't want to think of itself as having a blonde, white lead.

I'm pretty conflicted the whole Vee arc. She was a great character, and the more intense conflict was good for the show (probably necessary, really, as a show about prison was starting to feel too much like summer camp).

But I really thought it was a disservice to Taystee, Cindy, the track chick, and Suzanne. They seemed to turn them all into mindless zombies just to serve the plot.

I know I'm alone here, but I actually like the Polly/Larry thing.

Polly is a good character that's been underused. Putting them together immediately made both characters more interesting and gave them something to do.

The scenes that followed, were among the best of the season. Especially, the scene with Polly/Larry asking for Piper's blessing.

It gives some good scenes and gives them something to do. Good enough for me. It's not like a guy banging his ex's best friend is so far fetched. Espeically, if the ex is in prison and now munching her ex-GF's box
Yeah, Season 3 will probably more about Piper
I thought season 2 had the proper amount of Piper. Her main focus this season was digging for evidence of embezzling, and she succeeded. I wonder who the new villain will be next season.

I'm guessing Red's crew will fight the Latinas for control of the kitchen.

No, she was born a male and is transgender, in real life, like on the show. Her twin brother is identical, not fraternal. So the two of them made for perfect "before and after" casting.

Ah ok, but now I'm less impressed.

Fine by me. The arc with him and the best friend was dumb anyway, and he can only play the awkward dork who somehow lands hot chicks so many times before it gets not believable.

Yes. I generally like the TV show better than the book, but I think the TV show flubbed his character in annoying fashion.

Looks like Lori Petty (Kit from League Of Their Own) is going to be a regular now.

Bet she really likes the high ones behind bars.

Just finished up Season 2 over the weekend. Season 3 comes out Friday! Looking forward to it.

Perhaps Larry "left" Polly to go live off the grid with Piper's brother

So, I hear that they have released this early. A bunch of facebook posts.

I could tell you definitively, if I were not at only 18% update from Netflix on Xbox.

:-/

HOPE TO BE WATCHING SOON. WOO WOOOOOO.

I've been using my brother's netflix account, but his account is currently inactive.

Guess I'll make my own account, isn't there a 3 month trial for new accounts?

Wondering if I should re-watch seasons 1 & 2 before I dive into this one.

1st episode wasn't too good

Have a feeling this season could be a stinker. We'll see
Agreed. I didn't like the constant flashbacks of various characters as opposed to more extended flashbacks of a single character per episode. This just felt like a checklist of giving everyone screen time. Also, I think I'd be much happier to watch this show w/o Piper or Alex on it.

I started thinking the same thing. I really don't give a #### about either of them anymore. Alex is a bit more interesting. Funny that Piper, the main character, has become the most boring character on the show.

Watching S3E1 now...it's like this show started off with a lead and an ensemble cast broke out.
that's exactly what happened. Show was originally about piper bit now is about all of them because people feel on love with the other characters. That's why Jason Biggs is no longer in it imo and why piper didn't appear until 15 minutes into episode 1

Finally got that Chang backstory we waited 3 seasons for!

I'm 9 episodes in, feels like they ran out of ideas here. You get glimpses of Jenji Kohan's genius with the witty one liners and underlying themes, but the last few episides will need to redeem the main storylines, imo.

Where do you find the time for all your hobbies?

Page 3? Really?

About halfway through. It's getting a bit better, but the lack of connection with the outside world Piper had is really dragging this show.

Just finished this episode.

Are we supposed to feel sorry for Nichols here? She was the one who hid the drugs, she got caught. If I were the guard I wouldn't have gone down with that ship either.
Based on the backstory I thought she had it coming.

Lousy karmic retribution!
