Ortiz seems to be back (1 Viewer)

he's been on fire lately after a very Ortiz in Minnesota type May and June.

April .297/7/22

May .333/2/16

June .326/4/11

July .330/5/25

Aug .338/5/19 (through August 24th)

wonder if there are any reasons why a guy like this went from sort of an obscure 18 hr type guy in MINN to huge power hitter in Boston and then has an tale of two seasons type year. Seems like he has picked it up in July and August to more Ortiz type numbers.

This post has a strong undercurrent of idiocy. He's been hurt for most of this year, first with the knee and then the shoulder. This has been very well-documented.

At any rate, whenever Manny isn't in the lineup......I wouldn't throw a legit pitch to Ortiz. Make the Hinskes, Lugos, Drews and Crisps of the world beat you.

I love the Yankee fan who has an admitted steroid cheat in his lineup and casts stones on a guy with no evidence whatsoever.

Oh meanwhile: Ever see Ortiz's minor league stats? The guy was a monster waiting to happen. The Twins just didn't have any patience with him.

Lets see...Minors: 22.5 AB/HR (525 games)...Minnesota: 25.47 AB/HR (455 games)...Boston: 13.33 AB/HR (709 games)...Looks like he is on something to me...

I agree he is onto something...he is a bigger ####### then I thought#1 - All power hitters gain power with age...check the numbers. That's why they call it 'potential'#2 - Minnesota his swing was screwed up, they were forcing him to try to hit to contact (strike out less) and go opposite field more. In Boston they fixed his swing...this is well documented

You're not real bright, are you?Ortiz in Rookie ball (18-19 years old): 61.9 AB/HROrtiz in A ball (20 years old): 26.9 AB/HROrtiz in A+ ball (21 years old): 18.3 AB/HROrtiz in AA ball (21 years old): 18.4 AB/HROrtiz in AAA ball (22 years old, 11 games, then rushed to MLB): 18.5 AB/HROrtiz in AAA ball (23 years old): 15.8 AB/HRGee, that looks like a trend to me... And hardly "coming out of nowhere"...His career in Boston coincided with a players PEAK: 27-31 years old.
