Does anyone think that with the lack of running game in Denver, Tebow starts getting goal-line looks over Orton? Especially seeing how it worked against the Jets? How much does this hurt Orton's value?
I think that Orton had a chance for 30TD's especially with his schedule coming up - he could still hit that mark but if they get down within the 5 they'll bring in Tebow to rush it in.
At first I was slightly panicky over Tebow's vulture TD. Then I remembered that Denver has stunk in the red zone so far this year anyway. Probably a wash.
Most of Orton's value this year has come from yards, not scores. In fact, their offense has been pretty bad in the RZ, and I can only think of 1 TD he threw inside the ten. (to Buckhalter against the Titans) I don't think Tebow is any threat to Orton's numbers, although he might improve the offense's RZ efficiency.
I think the Tebow gimmick may have just been a special package added to level the playing field against the Jets. I'm not sure this is a weekly plan.
Now that teams have seen it, next time they'll gear up to stop Tebow from running it & force him to throw it. After he gets an INT returned for a 103 yard TD, the experiment will be over.
That play by Tebow will not work too often now that teams have seen it. I don't think it affects Orton all that much. However, I didn't see him as a 30 TD guy either.
I own Tebow but I don't expect him to vulture too many TDs. It will happen some, but in reality, that TD was vultured more from the RBs than from Orton. They will still throw plenty of TDs. It isn't anything to worry about if you are an Orton owner.
