#### it...trying this starting Sunday. My wife and I are on completely different eating schedules with completely different tastes right now, which was my main issue with giving it a shot before. I've plateaued on my diet after dropping about 30 pounds late last year. I think I can easily do this Sunday to Thursday, and eat sensibly Friday/Saturday.

I've been following this thread a decent amount so I know the basics, but is there one "ultra main condensed read-me-if-you'll-read-anything" post or site I should check out? Will check back through the last 10 pages or so to see if anyone asked a similar question.
Honestly, for the 10 bucks or whatever it would cost you, go get a copy of The Potato Hack.  The basics are in here, but I found the read help me understand the Why and has helped me stay on course.  It's a quick read.

Got home from the gym :flex: and quartered about 8 or so small red potatoes, put in the oven at 450 and jumped in the shower.  Wanted to do a "taste test" so to speak on different seasonings that I had in my pantry...here's my grading:

Cavender's Greek Seasoning - A - good solid seasoning that works really well with the starch of the potato

Lawry's Lemon Pepper Seasoning - D - really just didn't work well at all

Tone's Taco Seasoning - B minus - A pleasant surprise.  I would've rated higher, but I think I under seasoned it....will try to put some more on next time, but the potential is definitely there

Ground Cinnamon - B minus - again a pleasant surprise, as I was going for the "dessert" angle.  I think I under seasoned it as well....Cinnamon is pretty powerful, so I wanted to be careful....but i thoroughly enjoyed each bite that had the cinnamon on there.  Will attempt again next time
This Greek seasoning sounds good -- just bought off amazon.  Thx.

Halfway through day #3 and feeling pretty good.

Random comments:

- Down 3.8 lbs in past 48 hours.

- Energy level good

- My dog really loved all of the roasted chicken leftovers from Sunday dinner.

- when I cycle back to a eating balanced diet, everything is going to taste great. Got a date scheduled with Jason's Deli Salad bar, probably tomorrow. Will be my meal to break the potato fast.

- need to work on potato recipe repertoire.

- felt nauseas and jittery last night, but slept it off and feel better.

- anyone eat raw peeled potatoes? That quickly became my breakfast go to.

- Boss brought Chik-fil-A chicken biscuits this morning. DID NOT EAT.

Are you losing weight but gaining body fat?
Pretty sure that's just an anomaly in the body fat measurement thing. I've been doing a little pull ups and push ups and walking a bit more, I don't think I'm dropping any more muscle than I otherwise would.

It's settled yes, that of the big three the best is russet, then red, the gold Yukon?

I was struggling after finishing off a 6# bag of Gold Yukons in two days, but russets breathed new life into me today.Guess who has two thumbs AND two russets in the oven.

Do you know how you know when your baked potato is done? When it explodes!

Note to self: add more fork and poke to my life.

5'9"

Knocked out my 3rd and final day yesterday of this initial run.  No weight loss from day 2 to 3, so all in all; down 5lbs since Monday.  I'm going to get the book and read it while on vacation.  It was pretty easy and I wasn't starving at all.

But that coffee with splenda and a chocolate peanut butter protein bar tasted great for breakfast this morning

For the first time since doing this, I did not have a weight loss on a day I ate only spuds.  But, I had a 2.5 weight loss the day before, so it was probably to be expected.  Official three week weigh in tomorrow, but I'm down 8.5 lbs to date.

Went off the rails a little yesterday.  By that I mean, I was hungry in a conference room at lunch time and folded and at a chicken wrap; when I got home, after my potatoes I was still hungry and so I ate some chicken cutlets; I had two oreo cookies, I drank a Coors light, and I ate a few sesame crackers.  Now, granted, I literally ate nothing else all day.  But it was enough to give up a little progress.

Back up to 118 this morning.  Today drinking coffee all day and potatoes tonight.  May have an alcoholic beverage to celebrate the week almost being over.  We'll see if I can get close to 215 and then bust through it over the weekend.

Haven't eaten yet today. It's 8:34pm. Feeling pretty good regardless.

Taters in the oven. Only question will be whether I stay strict, or begin the weekend a tad early and have an adult beverage or two. Maybe an Oreo.

Hm.

Had an oreo recently. No idea what the appeal is.  Either they are now 90 percent chemicals or they were never that good.

My weakness is recess cups

i love the yukon golds purely nuked.   4-5 minutes gets them nice and soft.  found this chicken andouille sausage at costco.  half a link with a potato with some spicy brown equals a quick, easy, healthy, tasty meal.

Talk about nasty.  That grainy, clumped up stuff in the middle is cloying and disgusting.  At least you didn't call them "Peanut Butter Cups" because whatever that stuff is, it certainly ain't peanut butter.

I realize all this.

My update:

6/24 - 196

6/30 - 190

7/8 - 189.5

Only half a pound weight loss this week.  However, this was due (I'm blaming it on) the three day weekend.  Every day that I've gone full spud, I've lost either a full pound or 1.5.  The weekends reverse the trend.  With three days of not being good enough (darn holiday) and only four this week to counter act it, only had a minor loss.  The additional weekend day and loss of weekday was a 2 lb swing in my estimation.  I could have just as easily been at 187.5.  That said, I'm taking this as a kick in the butt not to let things go crazy this weekend and try to maintain, vs adding a couple of pounds.
Official Update:

7/8 - 189.5

7/15 - 186

Three week loss = 10 lbs = 3.3 lbs per week.  I can complain about this rate.

Goal again is not to go totally crazy on the weekends, but eating out sure does taste good after nothing but potatoes during the week.

The bolded is one of the better parts of this diet.

It basically resets your palate.  I felt like at some point I became a zombie -- just drifting into and out of food comas, stuffing my face, barely tasting the food, getting drunk on alcohol, and just never really appreciating any of it.  When you just eat potatoes all week and then you go out to a restaurant on the weekend for a good meal and a drink, you really appreciate it so much more.

Best "diet" ever imo

While I agree 100% with this, it is a double edged sword.  The food tastes so good that I blow right through that "full" feeling you learn during the week because the food is boring.  I just keep eating for the pleasure of it because it tastes so good.  I have to figure out how to reel that in a little better.

Wife said she could finally see some difference.  I'm not sure how legit of a comment it was since she obviously knows I'm losing weight, but I'll take it none the less.

Beer, bottle of wine, and a couple of fingers of a $300 bottle of a Macallan special edition, after a massive greek gyros and falafel meal followed by cookies and salted dark chocolate and chocolate ice cream.

WOW TOUGH DIET

Eating a filet with my second bottle of wine. Just had my own loaf of bread with some sort of fancy oil and cheese sauce.

Saved a dude's life today. Because lawyering.

Oh and now, special edition cigar my BILs got me for a recent birthday gift.  It's still nice and fresh.

Is there anything this diet can't do?

I'm kinda in agreement here. I used to love Oreos and still like a couple on occasion but the taste is definitely off. It's Reese's Cups for me as well.

Now with that being said, Oreo's make a helluva crust on some types of cheesecake.

Three weeks ago, I started hacking the Potato Hack by having them only at dinner. As a Type II diabetic, I didn't want to eat potatoes all day, and my biggest problems with satiety are at night. So it's high protein, low carb for breakfast and lunch, and spuds for dinner. In three weeks, I'm down 5.4 pounds.

7 beers, 2 margaritas, 3 dogs, 2 beef sliders, baked beans, few chips, famous Amos cookies, nutty butty bar, egg mcmuffin BUT 2 hashbrowns - think I went up a little - maybe should have had more hashbrowns

So you guys that are doing this for real...How many pounds of potatoes are you putting away per day on average?
