Got home after a long day of work. Sweated my way through putting together the patio set. What a PIA. But it came together OK. Also we did our first BBQing. The bacon-wrapped asparagus came out WAY better than in the oven. The turkey burgers with feta cheese in them were dried out. I'll need to work on that. Regular burgers next time...
Mrs. TF and I are contemplating the same set.How long did it take to put together? Can you post some pics? Thx
Was a PIA to put together, but not the end of the world. Most of the work was in pulling off all the packing covering. The actually building was fairly painless. Maybe took me a couple hours last night. Quality seems good, everything is HEAVY. Chairs are comfortable, table decent. We still need to get an umbrella. All in all, we're very happy with it so far. I'll take some more pics for you tonight.
thx. All the reviews on Home depot were very positive. I was skeptical of how quick the seats would dry if they got wet. Any initial impressions?

I suspect pretty quickly. I'm not sure what they are made out of or what you call the material, but it is thin and doesn't feel like something that will retain much moisture. Seems like you could wipe it off and it would dry fairly quickly.I posted a pic of this set up above here in the last page or so, not sure if you saw that yet. It captures it pretty well.We also bought based on the favorable reviews online. Be prepared for it being heavy as hell, but it's worth it for what seems like pretty good quality.

Wife just called. She's going to go see the ear doctor. Something is wrong with her hearing. For the last few weeks she hasn't heard a siren or a garbage truck or the sound of a wino pissing on a wall or some guy named 'Pauly' yelling at someone named 'Anjerlah' to hurry up because he's 'double pahked!'

Fictious things Otis' wife calls him about thread?

The wife just called me and asked what the box is out in front of the house with the red flag attached. She said she looked at some of the boxes down the street and a few of the boxes had the red flag up and a few had the red flag down. Any idea what she is referring to?

Big O' - enjoy your first long weekend in the burbs. Summer season officially begins!

TU is heading out of the dirty dingy city to hang with me and the Fiance (last weekend of Fianceness mind you) - swing on by for a drink.

:banned:
You're doing THAT next weekend already!? :excited:
Already? I'm 38... It's Time!
LOL! By "already" I meant as in "that went fast!" since I recall getting wind of the event. 38. I remember 38... :kicksrock:

The wife just called. Trash is piling up in the garage, there's no disposal chute, and I took our only car so she can't drive it to the town dump. Neighbors told her something about uniformed men coming on Tuesday, but I don't know what that's about... anyone??? Will they just take our trash away? How much do I tip? Who do I call if I want them to come back again?

Am I the only one that really likes that wood ceiling?
I think the problem with it is that it's a bit too "country" for our tastes. The color and look of the wood is very country kitchen/farmhouse/rooster decorations everywhere. That's just not our shtick. I'm not opposed to "beautiful hardwood" ceilings. And maybe even a dark stain would look better on it. But a dark ceiling is meh, and I think painted white the same color as the trim will look great, especially since it will have some detail/beading.

My wife just called and she's a little upset. There are these strange flying creatures in the trees near our house. She says they look like they're made of feathers or something. And they chirp and stuff. A neighbor told her that they were called 'burrs' or 'burds' or something like that. Should call someone and have them removed? I called a burr guy and he said he'd get rid of them for only $5k.

Not sure you can see it at the imageshack resolution, but one squirrel just forcibly took another out in front of our house.

It's a jungle out here, gang.
walk us through the pic. (p.s. you might need new gutters. The one in the picture looks different.(I can provide a wiki link to "gutters" if you need an FYI) ;)
Siding guy is replacing siding and all trim, leaders and gutters. Already on it.Check out the little rock retaining will in the middle of the picture. There is a tree just above that. The infraction is being committed at the bottom of that tree.

I'm not sure this pic is safe for FFA

How trim should be done.http://i280.photobucket.com/albums/kk161/offdee/FBG/IMG_2261-1.jpg
What is that paneling stuff on the wall?
Framed zebrawood (using texture as art). Those 2 frames together are about 3.5 feet wide x 8 feet tall.
Interesting. And they are stacked why?
Just to break it up for some added visual interest, but continue the grain pattern from one to the other (like diptych art). Hanging it vertically like that (with the grain running vertically) takes your eye from floor to ceiling and accentuates the ceiling height (11 feet ceilings) closeup of zebrawood pattern:http://www.ultrawood.com/images/species/zebrawood.jpg

Cool. But the fact that they aren't centered over the outlet below would make me crazy. Welcome to MY world...

At some point can't worry about outlets when designing. Made them try to disappear as much as possible with the wall color.Full wall shothttp://i280.photobucket.com/albums/kk161/offdee/FBG/IMG_2261.jpg

Okay. I feel better now. ;)

I'm really starting to love the suburbs.

Took the day from work today. Sitting out back at the table, under the shade of these wonderful wonderful trees, having a drink, plugging away at the laptop on some work stuff. Cool breezes, birds chirping everywhere. Awesome weather in NY today and this weekend. I still hate all the damn bugs, but I plan to pick up about 40 gallons worth of citronella candle today so that tonight is a bit more bug free. But otherwise, this is totally rad. Looking forward to doing some grilling this weekend and soaking in this glory some more.

This strange new suburban life is wonderful.

Still not as good as the city, but it has its moments. I've found that Cutter Bug Free Backyard spray works better than citronella.

Thats what I use and it works great. The one that hooks up to your hose.
Spend one evening outside with a thermacell unit running and I guarantee you'll never mess around with all that stuff again. I've bowhunted in southern Georgia in early September with swarms of bugs and Mosquitos around me and a thermacell next to me. Not one bite and it clears the area. We use one all summer long on our back deck and never have a problem. All friends/neighbors who come to our house end up buying them as well. They work

Can you recommend one? I'm looking and only see one that goes on your belt and a lantern looking one.

My yard becomes inhabitable once the summer really kicks in.

Edit.. I think I found itThermacell

Just oredered 3 of em with replacement cartridges from Amazon - Looks like a lot of good reviews too  :banned:

I'm going all out this summer - Spray every few weeks plus these things... I think we have some swamps in the area.

My faith has been restored, but that tv wall doesn't fit. And I agree about centering the outlets. Good looking joint overall.
