Let's trade people.  I need some ####in' pitching.
I have a lot of young pitchers.Whatcha got? Could use an accomplished OFer or a 2B.
What can I get for Carl Everett (.304 24 101, $3.5M salary)?
Downloading the latest info. I'll take a look...
I'll take a pass on Carl.I'm thinking of starting this guy in CF for me:

Winford Elsner:

Avoiding Ks - 2

LF - B/D (range/throwing)

CF - C/D

RF - C/D

Speed - B

Steals - A

Sac Bunt - C

Bunt for hit - A

How bad will hit with the 2 for AVG and Avoiding Ks???
It's hard to tell. You have to remember that those numbers being reported don't accurately reflect what numbers the sim is using for the player. It's suppose to be the scout's interpretation. OOTP has a feature that allows each team to hire a scout, and depending on how good or bad the scout is, the numbers you are given from the scout regarding a player could be pretty accurate or pretty far off. With that feature turned off all teams use the same scout and he is average, which means he can be wrong pretty often. I've had batters ranked at 3 for hitting hit .300 and have had batters ranked at 7 hit below .200. In fact Everett was a 4 at hitting and was above .300 all season for me. Bottom line is the scouts info isn't always right, so you take that information into consideration and watch how he performs in the minors and make your own call. If he's hitting over .300 in AAA with those numbers, then you'll probably be alright. But is he's hitting .250 at single A then he obviously isn't ready. I've got plenty of accomplished OFs:

Everett, Ramirez, Wilkerson, Pascuci, Sledge, Chavez

and not enough room for them to all play. But Everett is the only one I'm willing to part with right now. So I'll be shopping him around to the rest of the league. I probably won't get an SP for him, but a couple decent prospects would be nice.
:goodposting: This is great info.

Is it a safe assumption that if they've been hitting well at each level that the scout is likely lowballing his ratings? Or is there also just as good of a chance that he's a AAAA type player and just won't succeed in the majors. I'm just wondering if its a 50/50 thing or tilted more one way or another.

If I sim a season on my machine with him in the roster would that give me an idea?

Good luck with that. Unless you start a brand new league with the rosters, you can't without the commish password.

Well, the scout is right more than he is wrong, but if you really feel like the scout is just dead wrong, then do your own thing. I did that with Benjamin Cason. He was tearing up AA after 3 months, but the scout said he wasn't ready for AAA. Given his AA numbers I figured the scout was just wrong about him, so I promoted him. He struggled at AAA hitting below .200 for six weeks before finally finishing with a decent couple of weeks raising his average to about .220. In that case the scout was right even though he appeared to be wrong. But every now and then one of those single star prospects with low talent ratings that the scout hates turns out to be a star. That's how things worked for Ryne Sandberg and Mike Piazza. For a rule of thumb, if the scout has good things to say about the player but also says he's not ready for the next level, he's probably right, but if he hates the player but the player is producing anyway, give him a shot at the next level as the scout may be "biased".

Cool. Thanks.

Tremont...

Webb & ________

for

Blalock & ________
 Without Sori I'm not sure. I'll take a look.

The thing is - Hillenbrand was very good last year and I have Chad Tracy ready to come up too. So I'm already a bit overloaded at 3B.

Spock question: How easily could I "train" either Tracy or Hillenbrand to play 2B? OF?

I've got some tasty SP prospects that you may be interested in instead of Blalock. Perhaps a highly touted SP prospect and Mench for Webb?

Meh. You did see that Webb won the Cy Young, right?

I'm at your service, I aim to please. Just tell me what you need.

I want Blalock. What will it take?
MLB stud SP. IE: A deal including one of the "untouchables."I'll be straight forward... I've got a deal worked out with Larry for Jeremy Bonderman that includes Blalock, so I've already got that to fall back on.

Anyone doing pro or college hoops?
I would post in there. I think there are open teams even though they haven't been "announced" as available yet...I know that some teams are being set to CPU control for the free agency period.
What's up with the downloading I've seen mentioned? I have a feeling I won't be able to get to these sites at work, which would diminish my interest quite a bit. Seems like alot of work and tweaking that I don't have time to do at home right now.Kraft, I see your post about the Sox.

I do it at work and it didn't require admin rights. You should try downloading OOTP 5 and see if it runs on your machine.

GWB/RnR - 360 was delivered today.  Just in time for NCAA 07...
 Here is a link to the cord I was talking about... TRANSFER KIT
Glorious. Do we know of a site that's definitely doing rosters for the 360?
I'll post that link later tonight, don't have it right now.Edit to add: I've got XBox360 Live. You're going down.
I do too, but I've lost my wireless router thing. Its somewhere in my house though. I'll find it and begin the ruling process.

Get used to this RNR. It'll be one lousy excuse after another....
I'm convinced you don't even own an XBOX.
Please. You'd never know one way or another since the dog ate your router.
I brought my router over to my brother's house to show him how to set one up in an attempt to get him on-line. Since then I haven't used it. Its somewhere, I just don't know where. My brother ended up pulling a Badger and not ever going on-line.

Oswalt, Mussina, Bonderman, Riley, Rodriguez

Lidge, Cordero, Ramirez, Snare, Vance

Look out. Texas has pitching boys.

so, anyone interested in Rodriquez??? 4.5 star catcher...
For what?
not sure...I definately want to get younger, and Rodriquez is not young, and his $10 million price tag is kinda steep (although he is good enough that I'm ok with keeping it)... I'm just not sure I can turn the team around fast enough for him to do that much good for me...

what would you give me? (what team are you? lol)

I probably can't take him on. I already have Piazza at $15M for this year.

Minus Texeira, Blalock, Soriano, and Nix on offense.
free agency down? Glaus is already a Ranger. Expect Ortiz and more to come.

Glaus and Ortiz suck. Ortiz is 5 stars and still has mediocre numbers.
Glaus will be fine. His HR and walks ratings are superb.... and that's all that really matters to me.
