Colonoscopies result in the best nap you’ll ever have. Almost makes you want to do them frequently. Almost
I am not sure why people dread the colonoscopy itself. They put you for a nice nap. I have no recollection of anything happening. It was just a great nap. Now the day before wasn't great but it wasn't as bad as it was portrayed. I even did the gallon jug of stuff because the doctor said "it works better". 8 oz every 10 minutes. It wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. All in all the anticipation was much worse than the actual activity.
I've had three. Not bad at all. I actually watched the TV monitor of the procedure during the first one. Interesting ?
That’s some fetish you have.

From the pages of Captain Obvious - stay ahead of the foods that give you heartburn.
Man, that one hit me like a ton of bricks after I turned 50. Never had heartburn in my life until one bout of extra spicy thai red curry a fee months after i turned 50. Almost went to the ER thinking it was a heart attack!
It started as heartburn in my 50s. Then I started getting acid reflux. Took a lot of antacids, then started taking Pepcid AC. It worked for a while. Doctor finally prescribed me Omeprazole. One pill a day for the past six months and no more problems. With insurance the cost is $0, which is great.

For those that don't have the prescription version covered by insurance, you can also get an OTC version.

When your watching the live feed of your own colonoscopy it's time to reevaluate choices in life. I'd assume it's a one time watch show? Or have you rewatched it a few times? Ha ha

I was out the other two times. Not sure why I was awake the first time. Did not get a DVD of it to watch later. Would have been a good show for the kids. :scream:

I don't think hour supposed to be awake for any of them. It's what happens when you use a 90% off coupon and the place is connected to a McDonalds. Ha ha

Any time I hear someone complaining about a colonoscopy you know they've been quite fortunate, health-wise. Like you said, it's a total breeze and it pales in comparison to sports injuries, especially major ones, and a slew of other ailments. An easy, elective procedure that is good for you and helps prevent cancer while you're zonked out?

But wait, omg, I missed a meal. Call Africa and tell them.

And it's not very frequent either. That's like complaining about getting your teeth cleaned. Love that too, btw.

I was enjoying my Happy Meal

I have put on an extra 15 lbs in the gut and that is bothersome.

May be time for an avatar pic update - you were always too skinny in that one anyway.
Ha! Yeah. This was never me, though the number of times people thought it was amused me.

I know GB - good to see you around
Agree with AAA. Good to see you IB! I think I remember looking you up and it said you hadn't been logged in here in a few years?
He was in the bathroom

I have a feeling 80% of FBG's fit into this category, but the over 50 crowd can appreciate this.

I am late to the party, but I just discovered slip on sneakers/tennis shoes).
Absolutely love my Sketcher slips ons. Only 54 but get annoyed when I have to tie my shoes now lol
I got a pair of sketchers last year also. I used to wear Vans slip ons. But there's way more support in the Sketchers.

Grown men over 50 tend to not give a **** what others think.
It's one of the few perks of getting old.
It really is. Had some funny conversations about it the last few years. Friends going through similar. You can see it more in some.

Bathrobe in public is a pinnacle one must reach. Not as some show, just whatever, with everything. I'm not at that level yet but on track.

I try to get 10K steps in every day which means footwear is important. I switched over to New Balance a few years ago and swear by 'em. Yesterday was my son's college graduation and I wore nicer shoes for the day. Well.....we got 10K steps in going back and forth from one ceremony to another and man, I was pining for my New Balance sneakers by the end of the day. At the after party, another dad in our group who was staying for the weekend switched into flip flops and I just stared at them longingly while my feet barked. I hope that guy doesn't think I'm weird.

Get ready to become more friendly with bathrooms as out of nowhere you find yourself needing to pee.
I map out every rest area with a bathroom along the Interstates and Turnpikes here in FL before I go on a road trip

-Publix!
They are everywhere around Florida and usually the bathrooms are clean or you can just duck into the "Family Restroom" which is usually empty, always **** n span

THEY MAKE COOL ONES NOW!!!!11

Sketchers are awful for your feet
Just curious as to why? I have 2 pair that seem to have a ton of cushioning and after super comfortable and they seem to have decent arch support especially compared to the Hey Dudes I wear. What are some good shoes (for your feet) to wear?
Shoe guy I trust says 75% of the old guys coming in with plantar fascitis have been wearing Sketchers. He says they're terrible and don't have much arch support at all.

My feet were wrecked. I sprung for a pair of Pikolinos for work, and they've been fantastic.
From a very short stint of a mid-life crisis running jones I had for a few years, I learned very early on, don't skimp on your shoes. You will absolutely wreck your feet. Since then I haven't gone cheap on footwear. Makes a huge difference, especially if you're on your feet a lot.

Speaking of feet I recently noticed the joint on the side of my right big toe was larger than my left so I googled and had no idea that what a bunion was. Nothing crazy yet but got one of those brace/strap things to try to get it back in alignment or at the very least keep it from getting too bad. Getting old sucks...

This is gonna be controversial, but here goes. Grown men don't wear Skechers or Crocs. They are for children.

Isn't that the GenX mantra?
I learned it by watching you.
That's been bouncing around social media a lot lately. I've often quoted it as well.

That line, along with "And knowing is half the battle" are two of the greats.

I'm 55 and have never worn or owned a pair of New Balance, Skechers, or Crocs.

Pretty much only Nike and Vans for over half a century. If it ain't broke....

This is the answer. Add in Olukai and those 3 brands of shoes have been locked in for decades. Its not about caring about what others think. It's about paying for comfort. Self respect. Ha ha

I walk a lot for work. I use the slip in sketchers for home. For work, I swear by the brand 'On Cloud". Most comfortable shoe/sneaker I've ever had.

You must have pretty thin feet
My feet are not particularly wide but they are as flat as a rabbit's foot and I have to be very careful with shoes and now that I'm over 50 I use an insert in my shoes to help
I prefer Asics but I am just getting over a pretty wretched ankle injury and I do partly blame the shoes so i might start looking at other options, "tennis"
I also buy Asics Kayano and pretty much swear by them...never pay full price, Asics blows out the models sometime in the fall when they are going to get the new editions released

I’ve really learned to embrace Hokas - they’re ugly as sin, but see my earlier post about not caring what others think.

Everyone is wearing Hokas. I see all ages wearing them.

You came up with a great thread idea, I always appreciate threads these days that bring us together to share and trade notes with each other
Thanks Bud

I am 51 and won't even consider New Balance shoes even though I've read good things.

Was always a Nike guy. Tried On's and the laces never stayed tight and I felt they were above average.
Just bought Hoka's and they are far more comfortable. If anything, they may be a tad too cushioned.
Rotate that with my Ecco work shoes, Ecco sandals and two pair of Hey Dudes. Nikes are now my lawn mowing shoes.

Reef flip flops, specifically the Mick Fanning model that has some cushioning and a bit of arch support.

If you need a more formal flip flop, Olukai makes some nice all leather models but they take some breaking in.
