Owens to be released by 4 p.m. (1 Viewer)

I'm amazed at how many people think Owens is some type of team crippling divisive influence.

There's a reason the 49ers were 28-17 with him as their #1, and are 5-24 without him.

There's a reason the Eagles are 17-4 with him, and 14-13 without him, in the last three years.  There's a reason the Eagles were 4-3 with him, and 2-7 without him, in 2005.  There's a reason the Eagles clinched a first round bye earlier than any other team in history and were 13-1 when he got injured in 2004, and almost won the Superbowl on the back of his gutsy performance.

Owens makes a bad team good, and a good team great.

And I would gladly take him on the Patriots.  Give Brady his Rice.
I suspect 31 teams to be throwing a boatload of money at him this evening then.
Bingo. Perhaps the most talented WR in the league (might not even be much of a debate right now) and yet....

I think that you proved rather well that TO is very much a crippling, devisive influence. When he is happy, he will help you put up W's. Then he will get cranky and leave your team a smoldering pile of. . .

The Boys will have themselves T.O and a kicker by the weekend.
IF the 'boys can address the OL, and give Bledsoe time to throw, this would be a great signing. If Bledsoe can't stay upright...
Flozell will be back (they were decent before he went down), and they will adress the line in FA and the draft. The Cowboys haven't made much noise yet in FA, despite having room to do so. There is a reason for that....

:goodposting: I said the same thing in a thread started by Joe sometime back and got ignored...........if Jones is involved, TO is going to get paid. Jones was on a local radio show sometime back and he said that he was going for the Superbowl in 2006 and he was going to be aggressive this off season.

Someone is going to pay out of the nose if/when TO is free.

Obviously you're exagerating, but there should be 5-10 teams involved. Almost any team should be, but many won't.

How many teams were in the market for Edge again? What about Givens? The reasons a team would cross themselves off the list is if they felt that they didn't need a WR, couldn't afford him, didn't have a quarterback to take advantage of him, or they didn't have the coach or locker room leadership to keep him in line. Of course, you'll hear GMs saying that they would never take a risk on a guy with character issues, but that's what you say to the media.

Oakland. They still haven't made an extremely splashy move in free agency yet. They could hit a trifecta with T.O. by making the big signing that is both bad and manages to overpay the guy signed.

Has there been a better person in the past several years for the Raiders to sign, than T.O.? He can singlehandedly put attitude back into the team. At worst, the QB will start throwing to Moss just to get even with T.O. and his soon to follow gay-bashing of the QB.

Moss should be happy with such a scenario, since nobody will notice Moss and his mistakes any longer. Moss could play naked and T.O. would still get the coverage for his turdishness.

Additionally, Al can nail both Denver and KC with this one signing.

There is such a confluence of negative energy with T.O. signing with Oakland that it would be a shock if he doesn't sign there.

I hear rumors that NE is quietly trying to get him. That would be interesting.
I live in New England and have heard absolutely NOTHING in regard to Owens coming to the Patriots.Nothing.

Ditto. All is quiet in Boston regarding TO. Like Belicheck wants that headache...

When he is PLAYING he puts up Ws. When he ISN'T THERE, the team that didn't want him around can't win. The 49ers were 7-9 in his last season there; they were 2-14 the year after he was gone. How can you blame that on Owens? He was long gone.

Sometimes I have a bad burrito and after it is long gone I still blame the bad outcome on it. :hophead:

On top of all this, Al could have his dream offense with McCown as the new QB and drafting Vernon Davis as the new TE.

Pats are an awesome team(as in team effort, team hanging together etc) Not every other NFL team can claim that. It has an effect on malcontents walking in. For an example, see Dillon

The Bucs don't need a WR3.Well, they do, but not one that will mortgage their salary cap.

They need a burner to replace Galloway and a slot receiver (probably Hilliard again)

Clayton is just fine at split-end.

And I would have to agree that Key's release spells the beginning of TO in Dallas.

I don't really think it's fair to call Dillon a malcontent either. He seemed pretty patient, considering he set NFL records for a team that made no effort to become a winner until Lewis got there, then got injured and was semi-benched for Rudi J.

That would be the worst move they could make. Even worse then getting crybaby, waste of air, MEshawn Johnson.Galloway and a Healthy Clayton is good enough for a 1-2 punch. Bucs just pay attention to the offensive line and everything will be ok.
