Owner Wants to Hire His Girlfriend (1 Viewer)

His brother and I are both in agreement that this is a terrible idea. Power of the p is right.

No pics. Only met her once. She's a 7 in good shape.

Apparently the girlfriend is going to hire her son and she knows a few other people who can help shore up the staff.
This sounds very communist to me, "I got a guy for everything", she must be Russian.  Not too long until she runs the restaurant into the ground leaving a wake of disaster behind her.  This is worth the entertainment value alone for us readers.  Discourage him but don't flat out say no.  You CYA and give us a few months of entertainment.  Win/Win.   :moneybag:

His girlfriend has been training at another store location for a week. Boss said it's going well but no details. Background check came back pretty solid.

The main problems at the store happen at night with no real supervision. Lots of drama. So the night crew needs to be shored up and held accountable. When we talked about a training checklist I started out with the basics, opening/closing, cash, POS system, scheduling, purchase orders, etc. Boss tossed out that he doesn't really want her to close because of safety reasons. I was like, how can she train closers and evaluate them if she never works nights? My guess is no weekends either. For restaurants that's a winning formula.  :loco:

Any amount of leadership at this point will be a step in the right direction and should make the store stable and profitable. Question is will he still want to get rid of the store?

One other funny exchange I had with boss that showed how p-whipped he is. We were talking about his concerns for her safety and the risks to their personal relationship and stuff. He says, I didn't even want to have her to do this, she said she really wanted to. I was incredulous! I said you're the CEO! Why did you offer her the job then? ?

OMG what a moron.

I don't care if he hires his GF, but I do care if she isn't qualified.  every tom, **** and harry thinks they can run a restaurant for some odd reason, that is mistake number 1.  you have a fighting chance of not losing your life savings if you have someone running it that knows what they are doing.  hiring someone that doesn't, is mistake number 2.  find a new company and update your resume.

Time to update this  :tfp:

I don’t know where to start because I don’t want to type a book.

Girlfriend and her son were hired and although the restaurant has remained open for the most part, it’s been a disaster as I and others predicted. Here’s some of the comedy.

  • She started out working more at first but that quickly devolved into working about two hours per weekday "most" days. Enough to unlock the doors and take the deposit.
  • It’s only been three months and she’s been burned out on it and threatening to quit for two months.
  • She and the owner took a planned trip to California and a trip to Mexico despite the fact that they’re short-staffed and everyone is unreliable. All in her first three months. Total cluster.
  • Owner gave her a company credit card and she’s been charging personal expenses like daily coffee, breakfasts, lunches.
  • Even though she knows nothing about restaurants, doesn’t read her emails or respond to corporate staff that are trying to provide support, hasn’t turned in petty cash receipts since she started, doesn’t know the computer software or how to order food or fix problems or cook or prep food, and can’t pass the serve-safe test, owner is paying her $60k (pro-rate) plus (get this!) a $15k bonus...for...three...months. For those of you who are math challenged that’s the equivalent of $120k/year!  :o
  • Really the absolute worst idea in history is that once this store is sold or closed, he is dead set on bringing this girlfriend into our corporate office and giving her a made-up position in his company. It’s unbelievable and beyond lunacy. Lawsuit waiting to happen. Train wreck. He can’t see it despite his brother and I pointing out many facts and pitfalls to him. His brother is working on his dad to get through to him. It could literally jeopardize the company. Brother said he will leave if it happens and I told him I’m with him, but I can’t "threaten" that as easily as him.
  • I told his brother to start a company. He said his brother will never talk to him again.
  • As was mentioned above, time to take a possible job search/potential entrepreneurial venture more seriously if we can’t change his mind.

Hire great looking dude on Craigslist to seduce and bang her. Hire PI to investigate. Show affair to boss. Hopefully he breaks it off.

Her pubes must be made of gold

Her His pubes brain must be made of gold cement.
Or #### (balls).  One of the two*

* One of either cement or ####.  Not one of the two tesitcles.  Unless, ball cancer.

** Wait - we can say balls. We can misspell testicales.  But we can't say male anatomy, which I can't think of a really derogatory/slang use for, ####?

Our company consists of a chain of retail stores. Three years ago the owner wanted to diversify into restaurants despite zero food experience. I strongly cautioned against it because food is tough, and we were unable to reach an agreement for me to run the restaurant concept. He decided to go with a sub-optimal plan with a different employee and it's been a disaster.

I try to stay out of it as it's not my deal. But I give input when asked and I've helped clean up some messes. He's trying to sell the store or close it completely by June.

Today he said he's thinking of hiring his girlfriend of 8 months to run the restaurant. She works at a Dept. Store. He's in his late 40's, never married, not many serious girlfriends, first real gf in a long time. She is about mid-30's and gold diggerish. I've only met her once.

What could go wrong?  :wall:   :lmao:

tl:dr Rich, socially awkward, never married middle aged business owner wants to hire unqualified girlfriend to run his terribly mismanaged restaurant.
The owner of the restuarant I work at is married with children and banging our GM. She’s completely unqualified and has no redeeming qualities as a person, granted neither does he. Everyone hates her and she is the biggest obstacle to doing our jobs that we deal with daily. If she dropped dead tomorrow the entire staff would breath a sigh of relief.

This is an absolutely terrible move on his part unless he wants additional stress and the inability to retain good employees.

Hahahaha I knew this was coming!  The made up job at the company is not that big of a deal.  If owner wants to give his money away let him.  You should suggest that he do this rather than the restaurant so that she doesn’t bankrupt that business.  Is she going to have any actual authority in then company or is is an admin position that she collects a paycheck for but never actually does anything.  Needless to say, she must be a tiger in the sack!

His reason for giving her a job is because he "doesn’t want to throw her out in the street." Mind you she and her high school age son live with him in his nearly $2M home.

Then he says she needs health insurance.  Um, who don’t you pay her COBRA until she gets a new job? She has a degree and 6M jobs in the U.S. are unfilled. There should be no rush to find any old job because your boyfriend is a multimillionaire. What a position to be in! Volunteer! Run a Pet Rescue! Start a business! Host Mario Kart parties with your friends until you’re bored and want to look for a job! Retire!

No. She wants to get her fingers into his company but he can’t see it?  :lmao:

The made up job at the company is a big deal because the workplace will be unbearable if/when she does come in. We won’t want her to do anything so we won’t have to fix it. Their fights will be epic and affect the office. He’s verbally abusive and she can sling it too. When the restaurant was melting down numerous times they would be screaming at each other when the owner was on the phone with me seeking advice. She won’t have any actual authority but when you’re the bosses gf it will get hairy quickly (NPI) when we speak bluntly and feelings get hurt.

He’s almost 50 and hasn’t had a serious gf in like 20 years. He’s afraid to lose her and she’s playing him like a fiddle. :violin:  Textbook case.

I'm so confused here. :loco:

Restaurant was sold and we FINALLY talked him into not hiring her for the corporate office.   It was seemingly a miracle after we discussed it with him numerous times what a  :tfp:  it would be. The kicker was he finally understood when we told him he could just pay her COBRA, which the company is now doing for 12 months.

Not a juicy update but thank god it’s over.

Every time I see this thread title, I read it as "Otis wants to hire his girlfriend." Think that would have been a more interesting thread.
