What say you?

My opinion is that the attitudes of Packer fans have become very negative on the sports community. I actually used to respect their fans, they had humility back in the mid/late 90's when they were very good and Favre was winning all the awards. There were bandwagon fans back then which was the only problem I really had with any of their fans, the die hards were great fans I though, much more humble than say a Cowboys fan. I always noticed that 49er fans were humble during the winning days. If somebody said something about Montana not being great or Rice it was pretty much where the 49er supporters would just say OK, you are entitled to your opinion. This was actually the same attitude I witnessed from many Packer fans.

It seems that somewhere along the line, the tides have changed. I get status updates on my facebook of Packer fans bragging about every single TD, field goal, turnover, first down, etc; On this forum you have Packer fans who if their guy doesn't get 100% support on MVP, coach of the year, athlete of the year, QB of the year, etc; then you get yelled at and Packer fans push their thoughts and just drone on and on about why they are right. It's unfortunate in my opinion, I know if I was a Packer fan that I would simply brush it off and simply say I didn't agree but they are entitled to their opinion.

Come on Packer fans, be a little humble. Everyone knows you won the super bowl, you're the super bowl favorites this year and next year, you have one of the best QBS and one of the best offenses in the league, great coaches, great fan base. What's with the hostility, show some humility, it goes along way and why do you care what others think anyhow? When you're winning act like you've been there before.

I don't post often but I'll say this....and by no means is this an excuse, but, success attracts a lot of people to the bandwagon and it sucks when a few very vocal people can ruin the perception of a crowd.

I do take comfort knowing that it's not just like this for one specific group of people (in this case packer fans), you can actually apply this logic to EVERY group and it holds true.

Packer fans aren't all loud, braggart, belligerent, drunken cheesehead fools but there are certainly some out there.

Trust me, as a fan of the Packers who is living in Minnesota, I equate the amount of bragging that's going on this year to the amount of bragging that happened in 1998 when the Vikings went 15-1 with some young buck named Randy Moss. It goes both ways and it's fun while it lasts (which isn't very long).

This too shall pass and you'll be less annoyed down the road.

"Gopher State" must be a band wagoner because I remember him in 2009 being a Vikings fan. Im not sure what he was before that.

Faulty poll

Correct answer is that packer fans are euridite, goodlooking and well educated,

And thus are naturally attracted to America's team

Obviously your poll follows your opinion on Packer fans, and it's a negative poll. I'm a Packer fan and am afraid I didn't fit into any of your choices. I'm sure there are poor sport fans of every team, the Packers included, but I have not noticed them being any more negative than other team fans. You, of all the posters I've read on this board, don't follow your own requests of Packer fans. Negative?...Hostility?...Show some humility? You have got to be kidding. Most of the interaction I've seen between you and other posters is negative. I have no idea which NFL team you are a fan of but maybe you should do a discount double check and look in the mirror.

This perception of fans seems to occur when teams are good. I know there was similar backlash against Patriot fans for a while. At the end of the day, there's probably a good chunk of Packer fans that are indeed annoying and arrogant. Just like every other team. But I will also say this. Lambeau is a great place to watch a football game, and for the most part, opposing fans are humbly welcomed with some good natured ribbing sprinkled in.

I don't think the bad/good division of Packer fans is disproportionate but with the team being good the bad ones are more likely to be out in full force. Thus you have posts like "If Flynn was the starter he would have done better than Brees" or the ridiculous hype around an average player like Finley. As for the OP, well, I don't think he should be talking smack about anyone given his behavior here. You'd think Mark Ingram must've pooped in his oatmeal or something.

I'm a Packer fan living in Western Wisconsin near the Minnesota border and I think most of what you said in the original post could be said about Viking fans in our area. I don't think this unigue to fans of any particular team. As a matter of fact, in my group of facebook friends in this area the Packers fans tend to post on facebook on game day rooting for their club. My facebook friends that are Viking fans are constantly trying to stir the pot and start something. My Packer friends really could care less about how the Vikings are doing and who they are playing while my Viking friends are constatntly posting how much they are pulling for anybody playing Green Bay. I really think it's the mentality of the fans of the less successful club always pulling to see the big dogs fall down.

I'm not sure that this is important in my response but I believe my group of fans in this area are fairly equally split between Viking and Packer fans.

P.S. The second question in the poll is flawed because it asks if Packer fans are better or worse. How about an option of unchanged?

I think the perception is off. What I have noticed is that since the Packers have gotten extremely competitive again, there are a lot more haters that seem to always be on the attack. Packers fans are very, very loyal, and when their team is attacked most will go toe to toe with you to defend their team. There's nothing wrong with that in my opinion. You can't really place judgement on Packer fans without placing judgement on the people always attacking the Packers and their fans as well..

I have been a Packer fan all my life and there is a little bit of on an issue since the Mid 90s. People have come out of the wood work and are now Packer fans. They maybe diehard fans but how much of them really understand football or how the NFL works? The real hard core fan that understands the inner workings of the Packers and NFL isn't going on and on it is the other types.

I sat at the Lions game in a suite at Lambeau with my fellow employees and heard all kinds of nonesense during the gams. I love my co workers but they really are onesided on how great the Packers are and how the game is called. My best friend works with the same company and we had some good laughs how people were going nuts on things that there was no reason to.

Their are still Packer fans out there that hate Ted Thompson for how he runs the team and moved on from Favre. Still bashing after bringing a Super Bowl to Green Bay it is crazy.

A lot of fans are douches and they're the loudest and most obnoxious when their team is winning.

I liked them better when most of their fans were in the Midwest. It's a turnoff now that they are popular everywhere.

It's been mathematically shown that they are 30-40% worse than Patriots fans.

They're actually the worse fans in the four major sports. You have to look to Guatemalan soccer fans to find any worse.

TT can bring 5 SB's to Green Bay and I will still think he is a ######## closet homosexual (and it has nothing to do with the entire Favre fiasco).

Fixed.

When you're winning act like you've been there before.
I have always acted like I've been there before and will be again. I do agree some of the newer fans are of the new generation. (Less than 25 years old) and all they've ever seen is winning Packer football since the early 90's. So I understand how the humility in this case may not be intact like it is with someone that's been around for 30 years or more.

I have no idea what this statement has to do with anything related to this topic. After the validation of the Super Bowl victory, TT should be allowed to walk around Green Bay and piss on anyone that even looks cross-eyed at the guy. He has the brass balls to do what nobody else would have. Get rid of Favre & insert a Joe Montana clone. It's worked well so far. Let's see what happens this season.

Flawed.

1. I like Packer fans IRL and find them to be among the most knowledgeable and best to have a few beers with and watch the game.

2. I don't think real Pack fans attitudes have changed, there are just more bandgwaggoners lately. Happens to most teams during their big runs.

Like we ignore some 49er fans on this board, I'm sure Pack fans would like to ignore some FBG Pack fans too. All in all they are good people.

Packers fans the worst fans in football? Has anyone sent a memo to Eagles and Raiders fans letting them know of the throw-down brewing here?

im not very smart and most of the guys at the plant feel free to tellme that a lot but even i think your poll is poorly constructed and frankly that doesn't speak well for you so i wonder if you are having a bad holiday season and if so maybe you can let us know what is bothering you and we can help you out because no one should be lonely or sad this time of year because you could get depression so let hte shark pool and some packers fans help and then maybe you will have a more better opinion of them take it to teh bank and turn that frown upside down brohan

Faith has been somewhat restored with the responses. Of course the usual 5 trolls showed up and threw stones. I think those 5 are the ones giving Packer fans a bad reputation.

To SWC, never seen you, thanks for the concern but life is great these days, no complaints.

To whoever implied I said you were worse than Raider/Eagle fans - I never implied that nor think that, Packer fans have never reached that level, never sniffed the gutter.

To the rest, it's just a few but they post a lot so it seems much worse. I'll try to not let the few bad apples spoil the bunch.

Every team has the same fans...some respectable and some just embarrassing. I am a Packer fan. Lifelong through thick and thin, but I respect the opinions of other fans and am currently just enjoying the ride.

I'm an Eagles fan living in Packers country for the last 7 years. It's been rough. Lord knows if I could honestly change who I cheered for, I would (being an Eagles fan is like being in an abusive relationship). Anyway, I still have to vote the neutralish "They're OK". Like others have said, any team having success will generate some obnoxious fans. And at least the people around me are life-long fans. The Brewers have been breaking their hearts, the Bucks are always mediocre, and the Badgers (football and basketball) always seem to be big teases. Plus they have to suffer through Wisconsin winters. Let them enjoy the Packers.

Now so-called Packers fans not from Wisconsin (either currently or in the past) ... they should be smacked :P Especially if they're Yankee fans for baseball and/or Lakers fans for BB.

Don't the Packers have more NFL championships than any franchise in the league?
13 total Championships / 4 Super BowlsThe only team to win 3 championships in a row....TWICE (29-31 & 65-67)Rodgers speaks about doing something no QB has ever done, win 5 Super Bowls & he wants to win 3 in a row. No team has won 3 Super Bowls in a row.Miami went to 3 straight losing their first, winning their next 2. We all know the Bills went to 4 straight losing them all. The Niners won 2 straight then lost to the Giants in the NFC Championship Game. Steelers had a pair of 2 straight Super Bowl wins. Cowboys won 3 out of 4 in the 90's. Patriots won 3 out of 4 over 2001-2004.Green Bay is trying to humbly & graciously win a 2nd Lombardi in a row this season. It should prove to be quite a challenge.

Steelers fans are often pompous and make excuses for their team (even more than normal fans do) but they have a consistently-great team so you understand where it comes from. They're used to success and their team finds a way to be competitive every year. It's not like they make excuses for a perennial loser. The Steelers are winners, and you just have to accept some of their fans.

Saints fans were pretty arrogant when they won it all, but they weren't used to winning and settled down. I think they're pretty normal fans now. They just seem to be enjoying a great run with a premier QB.

Cardinals fans were cocky for like 10 minutes. I kind of wish they had more time to be jerks. They deserve it.

In my opinion, Packers fans have been pretty good about their success. Even when Favre had the Vikings on the cusp of the Super Bowl after beating down his old team twice, they weren't too low. And when they won the Super Bowl, they weren't too high. They don't really get on my nerves, which is saying something because champs normally have fans that discredit the team in some way...at least for a little while. I haven't seen that out of Green Bay. :2cents:

i am glad to hear you are ok and maybe just venting a little because sometimes guys get angry and let it build up and bam they get sick and have to worry about a cold for months or worse heaven forbid so be well and healthy and keep on taking it to the bank my man

So were you traveling in a Third World Country during the entire Favre/Jet/Viking ordeal? Packer fans started showing just how smug they can be during that time period.

i dont think anyone should pee on anyone else unless there is a jellyfish sting involvedand they ask you to pee on them like on friends that one tmie with monica

I occasionally glance at the comments following an ESPN story and it's pure stark raving idiocy. Every fan base has them. We're pretty lucky to have so few blind homer idiots on this board, few enough that they stand out. I don't think the Packer contingent is all that bad but the NFC North bunch as a whole seems to have trouble controlling themselves. They bicker worse than anyone else here. The AFC West crapfests come in a close second.

Yeah, if you want to convince yourself that ___________ fans are jerks, morons, whatever, reading the comments on an ESPN or Yahoo article about that team is a good way to get started. :)

Come on now. The poll was a fishing trip to begin with. I have never done anything to give Packer fans a bad reputation personally, nor do I post that much. And I don't throw stones unless I'm baited. I've allowed you to bait me into childish stupidity in the past but it's 2012 and I've decided that is not time well spent. From the bulk of your work which I've read, I don't witness excellence to others in your posting.
