CBS 11 Sources: 'Pacman' Involved In Hotel Scuffle

Reporting

Steve Pickett DALLAS (CBS 11 News) ―

CBS 11 News has exclusive information involving a Dallas Cowboy with a troubled past. Sources confirm to CBS 11 that Adam 'Pacman' Jones was involved in a violent scuffle. The investigation surrounds what happened inside a Dallas hotel overnight.

Jones was banned from the NFL for at least a year because of conduct unbecoming a player. He sat on the sidelines only to come back with the Dallas Cowboys under the assurance and the hope that he would not be involved in any conduct that would be deemed illegal or creating an embarrassment to the league.

The question now is – what happened inside the Joule Hotel? Hotel management wouldn't talk to CBS 11 News and offered no comment regarding the incident. However CBS 11 Sources say there was a violent confrontation, involving Jones, at the hotel Tuesday night.

Sources say police were called after Jones argued with one of his own bodyguards. By the time police arrived he was headed back inside the hotel and patrons could clearly hear a fight going on in the bathroom.

That fight was allegedly between 'Pacman' Jones and a member of his security detail. Security inside the hotel allegedly pulled the two apart. At least one mirror was broken in the confrontation.

Sources say Jones went outside and left the hotel without paying his tab. He was reportedly with a woman who drove the two away from the scene.

There was no police report filed regarding the incident. In a statement, Dallas Cowboys Spokesperson Rich Dalrymple said in part, "The organization has no information regarding the incident involving Adam Jones, therefore they had no comment."

Jones has been arrested in years past for public intoxication, disorderly conduct and faced questions involving a shooting in Atlanta.

CBS 11 News tried to contact Jones for comment but have yet to receive a response.

Not sure what Goodell can do here. No charges filed. Maybe 1-2 witnesses claiming that Jones fought with his employee. The hotel tab will be paid for by the end of the day.

I don't think it matters if charges are filed. With pacman's history and a couple of witnesses Goodell will have all he needs.

Scuffle is different than a full on brawl...
Whatever happened it is not a good move for Pacman. He may have just played his last game in the NFL. Either way this should not be a big deal for Dallas who should just move on and pray the T.Newman can get healthy quick!! Somehow I doubt the media will let that happen.

The women who drove Pac Man away was overhead saying she was taking him to the strip club where he would be safe from getting into trouble,

Hearing on Sirius

- Packman appeared to be intoxicated

- One of the mirrors in the hotel was smashed

Guard said he as taking a ..... in the restroom and was cold cocked by Packman and that started the fight

Guards are supplied by Cowboys to be with Packman at all times to keep him out of trouble

Hotel plans to fix the mirror and forget about it

Interesting bits and pieces. Key is whether guard will charge Packman with assault

Per PFT:

Per a league source, the “bodyguard” with whom Jones fought in the bathroom of a Dallas hotel was an off-duty police officer who has been hired by Cowboys owner Jerry Jones to babysit Pacman.

The source says that the problem started because the babysitter popped off to Jones’ female companion. Jones, who had been drinking, then started up with the guy, and it culminated in a scuffle.

Getting in a "scuffle" with an off duty cop can't be good.

Really? Why?
because he's already been put on notice by the league (Goodell) to stay out of trouble. his last suspension was a year. he was reinstated, what, about 2 months ago and now he's causing trouble again?

I agree this could be trouble for Pacman. He may be gone. It will be up to Goodell and I doubt he will be in the forgiving mood for Pacman.

The expectation is that Jones is likely to be called to New York to explain his conduct to Goodell, a source close to the player said. Jones' reinstatement is contingent upon his ability to conduct himself appropriately.

Compounding the potential consequences for the Cowboys is that Jones has been starting at left cornerback for Pro Bowler Terence Newman, who is attempting to confirm a preliminary diagnosis of a sports hernia injury that could sideline him for a minimum of six weeks if surgery is required.

In a sitdown interview with ESPN just before the start of the NFL season, Jones explained his decision to provide Jones with a four-man security detail at the team's expense.

"We have in place a staff here that really is good at monitoring what our players do," the Cowboys owner said. "Now I say this at the risk of knowing that in the next minute or in the morning I could get a phone call. ...When you're dealing with the numbers of people that we're dealing with and get some news that isn't too savory. On the other hand, this does call for an awareness on the part of any player that he is being monitored and the reputation of our team is at stake."

I have a feeling that without this staff that Dallas has in place PACMAN would have no chance at all to be in the NFL. The biggest worry to Dallas is the Newman is out as well. Dallas secondary is in trouble if Pacman is gone also.

If Jerry Jones hired this guy to babysit Pacman, as the stories say, then the "off duty" police officer will make a year's salary in one check to keep his mouth shut and not press any charges.

By being tied to the team, the league has more leverage over him and the team than if he were not. If this was PacMan's privately hired security guard, it would be different, but Goodell can sanction the Cowboys if they don't cooperate with the investigation.

There's too much "testosterone" in the NFL world to judge this without knowing if these guys were buddies or not. Every team's training camp probably had a fight or two or three. Finnegan and Bulluck just had a brief skirmish and they're friends again.

Good thinking. Cheap shotting a security guard while he's taking a dump in a hotel bathroom is exactly like a training camp scuffle on a NFL practice field.

don't you get tired of being "wise" all the time?

He wasn't a "buddy", he was an off-duty cop hired by the team to "babysit" Jones. Apparently, the babysitter said something to or about Jones girl and Jones went at him in a bathroom.

It's very tiring - a sacrifice really - but someone's got to do it.

PACMAN PARTS WAYS WITH AGENT

Posted by Mike Florio on October 8, 2008, 9:42 p.m.

In what could be even more evidence of the rapid unraveling of Pacman 2.0, Albert Breer of SportingNews.com reports that Jones recently fired agent Manny Arora.

“Adam and I see things a little bit differently,” Arora told Breer. “He’s the boss, and he made this decision.”

The move is surprising, given that Arora stood by Jones through his string of off-field challenges, including his lengthy suspension from the NFL.

And so the biggest question currently facing the Cowboys is whether Pacman or T.O. will completely implode.

We place our money on . . . both
