Cowboys | Parcells won't commit to Bledsoe beyond Week 2Sun, 17 Sep 2006 07:09:45 -0700ESPN reports Dallas Cowboys head coach Bill Parcells will not commit to QB Drew Bledsoe beyond Week 2, should Bledsoe struggle this week versus the Washington Redskins.

Spin Spin Spin. what BP said was bledsoe was his qb right now when asked who's your qb?
I think we'd both agree that Bledsoe is probably the weakest link among the offensive skill position players, so if he has a showing tonight like he did in Jacksonville, the Cowboys could well be 0-2. Under those circumstances I could see Parcells making a change. That's not a prediction, but it's a possibility that I don't think you can rule out right now.

IMHO-Parcells doesn't play to the media. He doesn't feel compelled to answer many of their questions because it's none of their business. My guess is the question was implied towards Parcells making some ackowledgement to the media regarding the QB and he refused so they are making that out to be a lack of commitment towards Beldsoe rather than a nonresponse to the question asked. I'm not going to read much into that.Keep in mind that the media wanted to make an issue between TO and Parcells and that didn't work either.

:goodposting: I'd like to add that things aren't in his favor either. I heard there will be rough weather conditions so he's going to have to play pretty well to overcome that. Also, their bye week is week 3, so if they're going to make the change and run for the playoffs...thats the week to do it.I don't think it will happen, but IF its going to it will be either this week or one of the last weeks if they're out of the runnings for a playoff spot.

To be honest, Tony Dungy hasn't committed to Peyton Manning beyond Week 2.
Well, that's for very good reason. Every time I watch him I'm like, "Peyton, show some enthusiasm, you're the quarterback and you need to win this game." I just don't see it from him. They need somebody who is going to get in people's face and yell and scream. Someone should go over to him and tell him, "Come on."

I agree there's spinning in that report. If Bill is gooing to change his QB, we'll know about it or at least a very strong hint on his part

This doesn't appear to be that much of a surprise. Parcells seems to want to Romo to have the job at some point, and if the team loses to its hated rival on national TV, going 0-2 in the process, a change could be possible.

Bledose has 13 picks over his last 7 games (Cowboys 2-5). Unless he turns that around pretty quick, we won't have to speculate any longer about Parcells intentions.

Football is entertainment. Entertainers are paid by people like you and I who decide it's worth spending a lot of money to see them entertain. The media is representative of us, the people who pay their salaries. So I wouldn't say it's none of their business.I agree that Parcells probably thinks that, however.

I am not a huge beleiver in Bledsoe but I am not sold on Tony Romo making that big of a difference. I like Romo and I think he is the QB of the future but I just dont know if he is ready to be in there yet.

That being said, I sure hope Romo is as good as he looked. I have liked Romo since he signed on here. I even downloaded a few of his highlight reels last year, just to see who the guy was. He was pretty impressive in college.

Parcells has also been high on this guy since his first training camp and I am going to go out on a limb and say The Tuna knows a little more about QBing than me....

While you make a good point, I have to disagree with the bolded comment. I have never observed the media to care about anything more than "ratings". It's not about representing us as much as "creatively" making a story that people will tune into to hear about. And that usually means controversay which what the original story here is about. They really aren't too much interested in facts.

Football is entertainment.
Sad but true.
The media is representative of us,
:X I hear what you're saying, but speak for yourself. The media is representative of a group of people vying for attention, by definition. Just because there are a nauseatingly large % of people who actually pay them any attention doesn't mean they are "representative of us."

Bledsoe is a case in point. Sure if Bledsoe continues to really stink it up, Parcells isn't above playing Romo. But the leash isn't nearly as short as the media wants us to believe. So why do they play that game? Again, they're trying to get attention, once again by overblowing a story (or in many cases creating one that doesn't even exist).
