Path of Exile (free to play & now on Xbone) (3 Viewers)

Since getting my IIR up to 363 I am averaging around 3 uniques a day playing. The problem is they all suck!
didn't they just double the unique drop rate?

and the crappy ones are probably the common ones.
I dunno about the drop rate? But, the amount of unique's that suck are too many. Many unique's are less than 1 chaos value each. If you could sell them at all. I would rather have very very good unique drops and less of them.
That was half of the design principle. Two main types of uniques which split into subcategories of their own.Common uniques that facilitate the process of making more characters (this is the goal of GGG, to keep you playing). Rare uniques that facilitate unique builds. The rare uniques will almost always niche items that will make entire other builds possible, niche + rarity = high value. The common uniques will always be useful for almost every build while leveling, so while their value is great for leveling, not everyone levels new characters and at the same time, they are intentionally more common than other uniques because GGG wants the experience of leveling a new character to not feel like a chore. There are exceptions, typically these are power items - uniques that are specifically meant to be highly sought after, an example of this would be Kaom's Heart or Lioneyes Glare.Power items are the reason why the chance rate of uniques was changed, prior to the patch unique drop rates were varied but the chance rate was not. If a unique dropped it was very likely one of the common ones. If you were chancing two separate uniques however it would be the same chance for both (approximately 1:1000).So they changed the chance rate to be in line with the drop rates and then doubled the drop rates of all uniques across the board. The end result will be a net increase of even the rare uniques, but the odds of yourself getting one is actually lower <_<Tried explaining this to a guy in global for 10 minutes, quite the waste of time.

FYI HURANK LikuidICE is trying to run a scam through trade. Just be careful people.
What kind of scam?
I'm also curious of the details, 9 times out of 10 its typically just some ##### trying to game the market, not really a scam.
Yeah, I don't really know how you could scam. You have to mouse over the item being traded to make the trade. In D2, one of the scams was someone would put up a high level unique item in the window, then when you tried to trade they would say "Oh wait, I don't have room in my stash, just a minute". Then they would put up an item that looked just like the previous item if you didn't inspect it, but was really a much more common item. POE fixes this by making you mouse over the item, unless you're just not paying attention you shouldn't get scammed.

This is exactly what this ##### was doing to several people on trade chat today. The problem was he was going under several different names and once he was called out on it he changed names and started over. He had a 6 link armour he was selling for 6 exalts good price for the item. When I was speaking with him he had another one that looked exactly like the 6 link but was 6 socket 4 link. The problem was the color of the armour was hiding the links and it looked exactly like the "real one." What happened was he had the 6 link chest and something else in the trade window. When he said something like , "oops let me put back this other item." So when he comes back to trade window it was the other chest. I told him "go get ####ed!" About that time his name was being blasted all over global and trade chat.

Found some rando in game and his name was FBG_Spartacus, asked if he was a footballguy, now I know there is a town in sweden called Franklenberg and its abbreviated FBG... The more you know!

Picked up a 5 link bow tonight. iLEVEL 62 all green sockets if anyone is interested.
Whats the base type?

http://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/348086 here is a link. I don't know what base type means sorry.
Its a citadel.

Base type means the specific type of item, like a Thicket, or Imperial. All important base type determines crit chance, attack speed and base damage. Sorry I'm not interested in the bow, if it were a grove, thicket or imperial id be interested, good luck.

Yeah I don't know what it is worth? I have never played a bow toon yet. IN fact this wouldn't be a good bow to learn on since the level is high. Hopefully someone will offer me something online.

I've got too much stuff and I'll either trade it or give it away.

Does anyone need:

Wisdom Scrolls - I have like 1300 + 600 portal scrolls + 450 Trans Orbs, so convertible to another 1800 - Grand total of like 3500 and I don't use them as fast as I get them.

Most Gems - I'd like to keep portals, chains, gmps, lmps but I have 3+ of most others and I don't really want them. Some decent stuff like faster casting, IIQ, IIR, auras, leech, life on hit, etc are all free if you need them for a build.

Doubles/Triples of some uniques - Searing Touch (the double is an item level 49 which really sucks), Death's Touch (Ilvl 50+), Crest of Perandus, Wondertraps, Geofri's Baptism (i loved using this to level up my ground slam/ leap slam maurader - the double is Ilvl 37), Perandus Blazon - bad roll but w/e.

I'm not really running a shop here. If you can use it, take it. You're doing me a favor. Please don't take 2k scrolls or 40 gems or anything like that (if you want that much, please send something back just for the sake of propriety).

IGNs: TheBarrister, DaddysBlueFrightWig most of the time. CurlyWhiteWig, GottfriedWilhelmLeibinz sometimes.

If still available, will take some wisdom, some portals and 2 gems (iiq, iir).

ign: blitzokrieg

Thank you!

Just a follow up on my spork build. It am about 1/2 way through merciless and it is actually a breeze. I can farm Merveil with out any fear of death at level 57 and the only time I run into an issue is if there is chaos damage or i zone out and dont pay attention to my zombies.

I will be taking a few of the chaos nodes to see if that helps and I will begin to hunt for some chaos gear to wear in certain areas as well. The biggest help is having 4 zombies with the 15% health and 15% damage bonus. They are fantastic meat shields as I walk through areas and toss down the totems.

This the easiest build I have ever played with at this point (though it started out tough).

does everyone start with -60% chaos?

I was watching a kripparian vid recently, and he seemed to think getting that up into the positive range made a huge difference.

I'm a big fan of the zombies.

I'm on my first char -- act 2 lvl 30 default, and those guys help me a ton.

kripp's also got a vid about modding them up, but I don't know if you want to watch it -- that stuff's like spoilers.

do you feel the dual totems wrecks the game for you at all?

I have pretty good gear (a 6L with 627 ES and some other pretty good stuff too) and run a dual spork L77 witch with zombies and skeletons (+ life and + speed) and while I can solo most lower level maps pretty easily, it definitely doesn't wreck the game. There's plenty of challenge to be had on lower level maps with bad mobs or higher level maps. I think I have about 6600 ES and I still have to be reasonably careful.

Does anyone have a link to the build of the guy who was helping people in maps? Wanting a build that I can solo maps with and looking to start a new character. Has there a been a character build yet that just breezes through all levels and maps?

Not sure what build he was but there are a handful of powerful builds that meet your requirements.I recommend Ethereal Knives or Lightning Arrow personally, not sure what you've been playing but EK and LA are easily the two strongest builds in the game. Freezing Pulse isn't far behind but requires a lot more gear, whereas EK and LA require not much at all.Rain of Arrows is almost as good as LA, Elemental Cleave is also good it does absolutely ridiclous damage but has survivability issues. If you have an idea of what you want to play I could link a build, I've got a bunch just sitting around.

I would like to play the most powerful build in the game to date. Currently playing a Templar with Lightning Strike. Made it to level 75 and get crushed in maps. I don't want to tweak the build to get it where it can beat maps. I want to build a character that breezes through the game. If that helps.

I'm not familiar enough to actually make an EK build, but there are plenty of guides available. Would recommend any of the builds that are "tanky" as EK hits like a truck and needs very little help in that department.

I'm much more well-versed in lightning arrow, you have a lot of options here. You can go LA as virtually any class but I would recommend against going Witch or Shadow, Ranger, Marauder and Templar are ideal.

The biggest boon of Lightning arrow is that each arrow will burst and do an AoE attack when it hits a mob, hitting up to 3 additional mobs. This can be combined with multiple projectiles and chain to a devastating effect, you will be shooting 3 arrows that hit 4 targets (additional plus 3 aoe) and then chain two times each and at each chain hit 4 more targets.

One shot = 36 hits. Lightning Arrow uses Life Gain On Hit support gem, my level 18 LGOH gem gives me 29 health per hit, so hypothetically if I hit a pack and do the full 36 hits (not uncommon at all, only need 5 mobs for it to happen) I heal for 36*29 = 1044 life instantly. I made my build as tanky as I could without losing significant DPS, but its possible to build a more devestating build or a more tanky build.

This is my build currently at lvl 82

In your opinion which is the best build to breeze through maps?

I can't definitively say but in my opinion, either Tanky BM Ranger LA or Tanky BM Templar LA.

Pretty much preference, virtually the same build, the Templar has less attack speed and a little less damage but has Inner Force which at later levels will mean a direct damage increase over the ranger and has about 30% more life. Both are easy to level.

Templar is actually in my opinion the easiest class to level in the game, you can go elemental cleave from 1-60 with crappy elemental gear and still be smashing mobs apart.

Just a heads up you have enough quality gems there to vendor for a GCP, if you vendor a number of gems with a combined quality of 40% the vendor will give you a GCP.
I usually do that with most gems, but I was hoping that the quality gems would get an offer on their own.

edit to add: I typed this twice

Paying 1gcp for a Chain gem (actually offering 10 alchs). Is this a fair price?
I have a bunch of level 1 chains. I will give it to you for 3 alch's (or some Glassblower Baubles if you have extra) i will be online around 10:00pm tonight if you want to trade then

well, I played a bit of this a while back, but got derailed on torchlight 2.

think I'm ready to actually get some playing in on my witch.

what are these races all about?

Damn, I should have waited! The guy was willing to accept Alterations, of which I have a crap ton from my Merveil farming, so I grabbed it. The exchange rate wasn't great, but I figure I can replace alts easily, but not higher currency.

I should probably grab another chain though, so I will still take you up on your offer. I have 20 baubles, how do they convert to alchs?

Always check here first. People here give great discounts :) . I have no idea what a Bauble is worth but they are not frequent drops for me. Would 6 be too many to part with for a Chain?

After (I think it was run it up's) analysis of how it really maximizes life gain on hit, I logged on today thinking I needed to add it to my LA. I haven't had much play time recently, just logged on a few times to check for Aabye.

So I watched trade for awhile (as my 3 year old would say, it's a really long time, but it was probably no more than 10 minutes), no one was offering any gems at all. So I sent up a chat saying WTB chain hoping to get multiple offers that I could just chose one from. I only received 1 offer at 1 gcp. I did some quick research on the POE forums (to no avail) to try to figure out it's value, then posted here. Then tried to stall with the guy (my only lead on a chain gem and hey, I have time to play tonight!) by figuring out my currency... So I offered the alchs, which he didn't like, but he responded that he'd take alterations. I'm not going to say the crappy exchange rate he gave for alterations because I'm embarrassed, but I figured there were no responses here (at that time, hey it had been a whole 3 minutes!) and I knew I could re-gain Alts (by farming Merviel), so I took it.

Immediately after I responded to you, Mad Cow logged in and offered me one for free! So now I have two that I'm leveling and am trying to balance my gems to maximize them. If you don't mind trading one at a discount (I have plenty of baubles and 6 seems more than fair - I've collected about 20 baubles simply by picking up quality flasks), I will try to sell it to recoup the rip off price I received. If you're not comfortable with that, I understand too.

Basically, this is a lesson in what not to do, kids. Have some ### #### patience.

Baubles need a vendor recipe I swear, you can convert scraps and whetstones but not baubles... baubles are pretty important too, just as much as whetstones and scraps imo, I would say a stack of baubles should be worth around a chaos.Embarking on a journey tonight, I tried several times to make a crit bow build but found it to be simply impossible - until I realized today if I just sacrifice, health, armor, evasion and energy shield I can make it work, pure glass cannon. If nothing ever hits me ill be just fine. :topcat:

Read about them here. I have not tried one but I am going to some day.http://www.pathofexile.com/seasons
so, you just make a new char, play hc, and level like a mo?

the week races you have to ply 16 hrs/day?
You don't play in HC for the race. You use what ever league is defined in the specs of the race. This link has even more detailhttp://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/44360
