Patriots to take a look a Terrell Owens (1 Viewer)

According to Nick Caserio who is the Patriots director of player personnel the Patriots are going to evaluate Terrell Owens...The Patriots clealy cannot be happy with what Ocho Cinco is giving them and based on last year Owens still has a lot more in the tank than Johnson when healty.

In my mind this is still a long shot, but if Owens is healthy he could be still be a force with Tom Brady throwing to him. He would have had over 1,000 yds and 10 td's last season in a dead offense with an over the hill Carson Palmer throwing to him.

Keep an eye on this situation. Terrell Owens in New England is clearly worth a roster stash.

Owens would be a perfect fit in Houston once Dre returns (IMO)......even with the TEs performing the way they are for HOU in Johnson's absence, Owens would be a great compliment to an already potent offense.

Crossing fingers HOU looks at him.

Owens still has something left. Say what you will about his off field nonsense and he is the definition of locker room cancer, but when he is on the field the man is still a force at 37 years of age. If he could post those numbers in Cinci imagine what he would do in New England.

Owens is one of the top 5 wr's in the history of the NFL and he has a huge football IQ. I'm sure he could walk and be a difference maker within a few weeks. I think a strong coach and qb like Belichick and Brady could keep him on the straight and narrow for the rest of the season.

If he is healthy and ends up in New England that offense would be nearly unstoppable.

I think this is nothing more than the Pats front office doing due diligence on an available player. I think it's HIGHLY unlikely that the Pats sign him. The NE offense is notoriously difficult for WRs to learn on the fly and they already have one fading WR that's struggling to find his way through the system. I just don't see this happening.

The Pats regulary have guys in for try outs and keep tabs of players for emergency lists should they have a dire need to fill a roster spot in a pinch. Do not read this as if they have a profound interest in Owens.

Who knows what happens here...anything is possible with the Pats...as far as their current WR situation they coud use another one...if Welker or Branch went down they'd be in big trouble...while Chad gets all the (negative) attention the guy that's dissapointing me is Taylor Price...he looks like he has a lot of upside but injuries seem to have really hurt his development...I'd like this kid to get involved after the bye week...he's been here a year and a half and he needs to finally step up...

moss is washed up though, he couldnt crack the starting roster in tennessee Owens was a top ten receiver last year

If he goes to the Patriots - Bill Belichick is a genius, who pulled off yet another brilliant move.

If he goes anywhere else - it's a wasted move that will be blasted by the sports media.

Any guess as to how many teams will actually show up for this workout?
in my mind I would think almost every team should be at least taking a sniff....send someone to take a look....whats the big deal......teams should always be looking for ways to get better.....TO has shown that he can be an impact player......think you are doing your team a disservice if you don't at least check it out.....

That's what happens when you're the best ever at what you do. Not that complicated.

:goodposting: Far too true!

ocho would still get paid and have even more time to mess around with a juicy pay check each week. TO would have to certainly prove to be a lot more valuable during his workouts since they would have to pay both

Zero. Seriously, Rachel Nichols said "Agent Drew Rosenhaus admitted that it's possible no NFL scouts will be at free agent Terrell Owens' open workout scheduled for 2 pm ET Tuesday."Yeah, zero NFL scouts.http://content.usatoday.com/communities/gameon/post/2011/10/terrell-owens-workout-attracts-zero-nfl-teams/1

Why bother showing your team's interest and bring on whatever noise comes with that, when you can watch it on TV and get the tape?

Did people really think that NFL scouts were going to be in attendance? Of course teams are interested... but they don't need to send a scout live to watch his workout. It isn't as if people aren't familiar with Owens. They may have watched it live, and I am sure that all interested teams will watch the tape... if they are interested they will probably have him work out for them... get their medical staff to check him, ect...

NFL | More on Terrell Owens workout

Tue, 25 Oct 2011 12:31:15 -0700

Free-agent WR Terrell Owens (knee) didn't show any ill effects from a surgically repaired left knee during his workout Tuesday, Oct. 25. "I've not seen any buckling (of Owens' repaired knee), that's what I was worried about," NFL Network analyst Charles Davis said. "Weakness in the joint, weakness in the knee … haven't seen that." However, there is still skepticism that Owens can contribute to an NFL team in the short term. "I still think he's a couple of months away from being NFL football-ready," said Heath Evans, who played 10 years in the NFLand is currently an NFL Network analyst.
