I can see why this pick but I think I would have liked Kai Forbath, Justin Medlock or Blair Walsh instead. Even though just one injury and Kasay is kicking again. I also considered Tavarias jackson at my last pick. Surprised he did not go'jeter23 said:24.16 John Kasay, PK NO
yeah I saw that NO resigned Kasay, but the report I saw was that it was more for a "camp leg" thing....probably also to block him from being picked up by someone else as well right now....potential trade bait or something if somebody goes down on another team as Kasay would be one of the first guys getting a call after having a nice year last year...they can hang on to him and then just release him at the last minute....right now it keeps him off a roster like division foes (Car-Mare getting old and not so good...also Barth is sitting out and hasn't signed tender yet in TB)....so a little gamesmanship might be in play too.....let's not talk about him actually beating out Hartley if thats okay....lol...but I almost took him with my last pick as well thinking it could give me insurance for Hartley, but more likely 3 kickers at some point this year...I can see why this pick but I think I would have liked Kai Forbath, Justin Medlock or Blair Walsh instead. You sure about Mare?I have it that he's under contract:7/29/2011: Signed a four-year, $12 million contract. The deal contains $4 million guaranteed, including a $1.5 million signing bonus. 2012: $2.1 million, 2013: $2.2 million, 2014: $2.4 million, 2015: Free AgentMare is not the Carolina PK right now. He is a FA. The PK is justin Medlock and why I was surprised not to see him drafted. TB signing Forbath(who was claimed by a few teams) might mean danger for Barth for sure. I took Forbath last year as he was a big name PK coming out. Walsh is just the top PK for rookies but he is not way ahead of anyone. Carson Wiggs, Randy Bullock could be the top guy in the end. Walsh was drafted in other PDSLAnd why do I follow PK so closely. My home league they have nice importance. 16 team with 11 O starters including 1-2 PK. With only .5 PPR and .5 per 10 they can have nice value and starting 2 is almost a guarantee unless your team is loaded.
and the other thing I kind of noticed is that it seems many of these guys are "signed"/brought in just so they have another leg in camp......don't want just one guy handling all the kicks a kicker might have to kick in camp besides FG's, etc.....so I don't neccessarily think somebody else being brought in is an indication of someone's job being on the line....You sure about Mare?I have it that he's under contract:7/29/2011: Signed a four-year, $12 million contract.
