Bye weeks in ()

QB Commentary: I expected the typical Peyton/Brady picks early, but all in all, QB's were moving quicker than I expected here. I was hoping to sit back and wait till my round 7 pick, but I was worried about what would be left. Eli should be a solid QB1. I had thought about Bulger as well who went a few picks earlier, but he just misses too much time. I like that Eli has played a full 16 games in each of the last 3 years and under this scoring has been top 10-15ish each year. Maybe he takes another big step forward in 2008 coming off the super bowl victory?

If I had nabbed a high end QB, I probably would have waited on a QB2, but with Eli as QB1, I want another regular contributor. Campbell should fit that bill. I like Zorn's recent comments assuring that Campbell is 'THE QB'.

RB Commentary: From the 1.12 spot, I was very happy to land Reggie Bush. In PPR, he is a monster. Should be another 80+ rec year, which should place him in the top 10 in this scoring format. Obviously health and who his RBBC partner is will be issues, but again, at 1.12 me likey. Happy to land Graham at 4.05. He should be a solid RB2 for this squad and I think he is an underrated pass catcher. Not sure why I waited so long on RB3 to be painted into the Kevin Jones corner. Who knows about his health, where he could land, or what he could even contribute to this team. Added Ward as a possible bye week filler. I'll likely only need him to cover weeks 9/10 when my RB1/2 are on byes. I figured he has a reasonable shot to be in the mix due to injuries at that point in the season. I like Forte, but who knows if he contributes at all this year.

WR Commentary: Very happy with Wayne as my WR1. Probably more 'upside' with a TO pick, but I like a guy like Wayne as a core player. He probably has a fairly nice floor of about 85/1200/8 even with a developing Gonzalez and possible return of Marv. If he builds on last years 104/1500+/10...watch out. I love Welker as a WR2 in PPR. With the resigning of Randy, here is to hoping for another 100+ catch season. I was looking at a variety of guys with my 5.12 pick, but just decided I couldn't pass up on Driver for my WR3. I think he is being written off/undervalued by too many for 2008 imo. This would be a risky pick if he were my WR1 or 2, but I think he'll end up out playing his WR28 price.

Happy to add Bruce as WR4 to my group, pretty solid value late in the 9th. Byes w/ Vernon Davis/Bruce shouldn't be a big deal since Bruce is my WR4. Curry should have a few big games and contribute in this best ball format. If Walker has any lingering health issues, this was a steal imo. Not a big fan of doubling up on WR's from trhe same team, but went ahead and drafted another NE WR. I have been a fan of Chad Jackson since he came into the league. Health has kept him off the field. It'll be interesting to see if he can actually go out and play a whole season. In NE's potent offense, he could have some nice upside with Stallworth gone and only Gaffney in front of him, which is what these rd15+ picks are all about imo
TE Commentary: Thought I'd wait on TE and get TE15 type guy or two. Honestly very surprised Vernon Davis was still around @ 7.12. He hasn't lasted past TE10 & 6.10 in any prior SL draft this year. It'll be interesting too see how he is used in the Martz system. If reports of him being used in the slot role are correct, he could be golden. In any even, he should put TE14 level or better stats which is what I paid. Eric Johnson was one of the last TE's I was willing to roster. He's no stud, but he may have some upside.
DEF/ST Commentary: Decided to go back to back with my rd 13/14 picks to get two units that should finish in the top half of the league, with upside for better. Went D/ST with last pick as the return on investment seems better than another flier RB/WR. ATL oughta contribute 1-3 weeks anyways.
K Commentary: Not much to say about K's really. Usually I wait and get a couple of bottom half guys, but several of the skill guys I considered here will likely still be available a few more rounds.....might as well 'upgrade' my K slot. I like Brown to have a solid season. Rams OFF should pick up, and kicking home games inside is nice as well. Stover is a solid K, and at least he doesn't share a bye. Good enough.
Bump to include bye weeks

I am in the same boat as you krsone21... Both Moss and Williams have the same bye week in week 4. If I can get through that week then the rest of the season looks manageable!

You may get to see a trend forming early in the round and choose either to stock up or head completely in another direction. In R1 & 2, I felt that RB's were too valuable (as they are in most any draft) to not stock up here...Especially with two solid PPR backs like Ryan Grant & MJ Drew still available. I knew I was sacrificing the stud WR, but the top 2 Q's were already gone, I like my young RB's. When my pick came up at 3.15, I noticed a huge run on WR's, few TE's, couple more Q's...I thought about taking Carson Palmer here, but decided since Burress dropped this far, I should nab him. He was the #15th WR taken, which I think is a deal. Palmer was taken the next pick, which did not hurt my feelings too bad as the Bengals will not be as pass happy this coming year. With the trend strong WR, I took Bowe at 4.025.15 - I knew I needed to go Q here. In retrospect I should have gone with Eli (next Q taken) or Kitna (who didn't go until 7.14, QB20...a steal). But instead chose Bulger. Hopefully his '08 will be a comeback year with a revamped line to keep him upright and healthy RB Jackson.6.02 - I originally tried to draft Kellen Winslow, Jr here, but awesomeness who drafted him at 3.02 didn't think that was fair, so I had to go back and re-pick. If Marvin Harrison can last just one more year, I just stole him here.7.15 - Looking at the board, I really thought I would have a chance to grab Kitna here. But Kirby snagged him the pick just before mine. Not many quality starters left. Leinart has potential, so I grab him here.8.02 - Crumpler was solid on an awful Falcons team. Now he's with the Titans, under Heimerdinger's system, he should be an Pro bowler again.9.15 & 10.02 - Crayton and Williams - just good WR's.
Bump adding bye weeks and rounds 11+

Adding more commentary:11.15: Chris Redman is about the only "starting" Q left, so I take him.

12.02: I think Jax could be a stretch with the #4 D, but they were good last year, and will even be better this year under Greg Williams, so they may very well be worth the pick there. Plus 13 more D's went off the board before my pick came back around.

13.15: Biggest gamble yet - Matt Ryan - Rookie Q's rarely perform...I have Bulger, Leinart, & Redman taken. The pickens are VERY slim...I take a chance.

14.02: Time to get another TE. Chris Baker had a decent season with the Jets.

15.15: Darious Walker - Could be a sleeper pick in a crowded Houston backfield. Got some late season action and did OK...

16.02: Miami D - Need another D. These guys were a decent crew before the wheels fell off last season. I have a feeling they will be back under the Tuna regime.

17.15 & 18.02: Matt Bryant & Jeff Reed - 2 solid kickers still available...snagged them both here.

19.15 & 20.02: Mike Furrey is still available? I will take him! Lance Moore had a decent year as well in NO...they are crowded at WR there, but he's still listed at #2 on the depth chart and he would provide nice bye week relief points.

Comments are welcome...

Feel good about QB... would have liked the other half of any of these situations, but had other needs;

Adrian Peterson

Rudi Johnson

Kenny Watson

Najeh Davenport

Correll Buckhalter

Felt really good about this until the bye weeks came out... week 8 looks like a killer here!

TJ Houzhmanzadeh

Hines Ward

Arnaz Battle

Brandon Stokley

Nate Washington

Jacoby Jones

I like my WRs in this 16 teamer; again, that week 8 bye looks troublesome here

Jason Witten

Jeb Putzier

Very happy with these TEs

Phil Dawson

Joe Nedney

Green Bay

Oakland

Overall I'm pleased, and if I can withstand week 8 I feel good about my chances to win... of course that's a huge IF with so many players off that bye week

All comments welcome

Yup, same byes for the TE's. Oh well. Only found that out by around 16 or 17 when the sched's came out, when it was really to late to do too much. The TE pool was thin as ice by that point. I considered taking a TE3 of Daniel Graham in rd20, but he came off the board a few picks before then. At that point, I figured why waste a spot on an absolute crud bucket of a TE that I really only need 1 week, who may not even play that week or catch a pass....went DEF3 instead

At that point, I figured why waste a spot on an absolute crud bucket of a TE that I really only need 1 week, who may not even play that week or catch a pass....went DEF3 instead ;)
That's cool..u won't be around for week 9 anyway but yep you got your 3 DEF ;)

This was an interesting experience - not one that I'll ever repeat here again - but interesting nonetheless. My team is average at best (talentwise) but I had to change plans when the bye weeks came out and I discovered that in week 7 I would be missing QB1-WR1-WR2-WR3 and WR6. This scuttled my plans to take a 3rd DEF and a 5th RB.

5:09 - QB - Garrard,D - Jax (7)

6:08 - QB - Delhomme,J - Car (9)

Original plan was to draft Brees in RD3 but when he was gone I decided to grab 2QB's that I thought had upside with improved WR's so that I could have a couple of "pitch and catch" combos. Only partially sucessful as one is more of a "pitch and oops" combo. If these 2 can stay healthy, between the 2 of them they should provide me with decent points each week.

1:09 - RB - Lynch,M - Buf (6)

4:08 - RB - Jones,T - NYJ (5)

9:09 - RB - Jones,F - Rookie

14:08 - RB - Morris,S - NE (4)

I actually liked Bush better than Lynch but I planned to take Brees in RD3 and didn't want to intentially create possible bye week problems that early in the draft. I took Thomas Jomes gambling that "Alzheimer Al" won't be able to resist a shiny new toy on April 26. In retrospect that may have been a mistake. Morris is a good backup (especially where I got him) and I just have to hope that Felix lands in a good situation.

2:08 - WR - Fitzgerald,L - Ari (7)

7:09 - WR - Brown,R - Phi (7)

8:08 - WR - Williams,R - Jax (7)

10:08 - WR - McDonald,S - Det (4)

12:08 - WR - Muhammad,m - Car (9)

15:09 - WR - Jenkins,M - Atl (7)

19:09 - WR - Wade,B - Min (8)

20:08 - WR - Bryant,A - TB (10)

Purposely drafted my 1st 6 WR from 6 different teams to minimize bye week problems. That plan worked out perfectly. Week 7 will probably do me in (if I get that far). Fitz is my only top 10 WR but if 2 of my other 7 can step up each week they should be able to keep this group from being a complete disaster.

3:09 - TE - Gonzalez,T - KC (6)

11:09 - TE - Utecht,B - Cin (8)

At 2PPR, Gonzo should do quite well every week. Took Utecht as a backup. With the unsettled Cincy WR situation, Ben may actually put up some decent numbers. Definitely my strongest position.

13:09 - DEF - Tampa Bay Bucs (10)

16:08 - DEF - Buffalo Bills (6)

By the time I was drafting my DEF's, I just wanted to get this draft over with. No thought whatsoever went into these picks other than the fact that I wasn't going to be dumb enough to have only 1 DEF.

17:09 - PK - Nugent,M - NYJ (5)

18:08 - PK - Tynes,L - NYG (4)

See DEF.

Considering that my only previous FF drafting experience has been 3 years on NFL.com, I'm not all that unhappy with my team (talentwise anyway). Now the waiting begins.

Good luck everyone

Uh, reasoning why would probably be good. Like if Bush gets hurt, things aren't looking too hot, but otherwise he has the most important slot covered and two streaky TE which is the best to have if you aren't going with the stud theory. :goodposting:

I thought it was self explanatory but he chose a 3rd DEF/ST over a 3rd TE to cover the bye week :football:

Look at what I quoted.

Was looking for context there if you have some sort of valid reasoning or if it was just pissing, I thought it was self explanatory... ;)

Will break my team (and maybe others) soon - but Draft Week is kicking my ###.

When it calms down, perhaps....... ;)

Ugh. Just couldn't even remember who I'd drafted in this one so went digging. Ugh, that's some serious ugliness. Got a great QB, probably a great RB1 and RB2 (if steward continues to develop), great TE, but I literally have NOTHING at WR2/3 and no real prospects either. Aye caramba that hurts. But, I will give myself props for passing on Ocho Cinco for Marshall; I know at the time everyoen thought I was completely BONKERS there.

i wouldn't be so sure :(QB- none RB-Westbrook (is Questionable), Fred Jackson, Brandon Jackson, Leon Washington. WR- Roddy White, Bryant Johnson, Vincent Jackson, Josh Reed, Devard Darling, Devin Thomas.TE- Kellen WinslowPK- Shayne GrahamDef- San Diego ChargersIf Westbrook doesn't play you shouldn't have any problem outscoring me. Even if he does play you could still outscore me since he'll likely get significantly less touches than usual.

Yep, just noticed that. That's nuts that I've never bothered to follow it! :bonkers: Now, anyone know the direct IP addy to get to it so I can get around the filter/block at work?
