resale.Just saw a guy buy 42 ipads, 17 Rokus and 14 PlayStation. Bill was over 13k.
I hope not, the greed and total disregard for others displayed by so many on this day always makes me feel better about myself.Good riddance.
Is this the last Black Friday? http://money.cnn.com/2017/11/23/news/companies/holiday-shopping-make-break-season/index.html
How much can you make selling all that via ebay?Just saw a guy buy 42 ipads, 17 Rokus and 14 PlayStation. Bill was over 13k.
I think with the 6pm Thanksgiving opening, a lot of the stabbiness has gone away. The zealots still go the earliest while the casuals will get up the next day for the Friday morning specials. Spacing out the crazies might have been the best plan they came up with.Which glob of consumer electronics are you stabbing your neighbor for tonight?![]()
Definitely agingI usually start thinking about this thread around Halloween every year. We are getting old!
Black 'Friday' was yesterdayJust saw them interviewing a couple at the local mall. The entire interview, I saw ONE other pair of people pass behind them. No throngs of folks, no pushing and shoving. The mall, which is normally packed, looked virtually deserted.
Maybe it's because you have that extra $170 to spend.Went by a Best Buy yesterday (turns out they're still in business) and saw about 10 people camping in tents. Sad that they apparently don't have friends or family that spending that time with would be more valuable then saving a few bucks on crappy electronics.
I mean, the best deal BB had that was a doorbuster was a 55" Sharp TV. Camping out all night and spending the day in 40 degree weather to buy a crappy tv for $180 when you can get a much better one for $350 or so is crazy to me.
Can you even make arbitrage on that stuff anymore?Just saw a guy buy 42 ipads, 17 Rokus and 14 PlayStation. Bill was over 13k.
Seriously. How are people making money on iPads? They’re the same price everywhere. Can you even make arbitrage on that stuff anymore?
Yeah, I get that. Just a few short years ago $170 would have been a lot of money for me too. But if you can't work a few extra hours somewhere to make the difference, or can't afford to spend $170 extra because it will break you financially, maybe don't buy a new 55" tv at all.Maybe it's because you have that extra $170 to spend.![]()
Black 'Friday' was in the early 2000's. Amazon killed it when they started offering the same "deals" all year long.Black 'Friday' was yesterday
today is for the slackers
I am right there with you, but like you said, I think a part of it is still a right of passage or tradition for some people.Yeah, I get that. Just a few short years ago $170 would have been a lot of money for me too. I get that not everybody's time is as valuable because I was there fairly recently too. But spending a couple of days in 30-40 degree weather to save a couple of hundred bucks on non-necessities while bypassing Thanksgiving seems pretty awful to me as well as inefficient. But I guess some people must get some enjoyment out of it or something that makes it worth it for them. I just happen to think those people are weird.
I do think they play games on pricing in other parts of the world. Like South America. So you can make decent coin reselling phones there but not iPad. I mean who needs a new iPad that hasnt been sat on by your fat grandma or something?Seriously. How are people making money on iPads? They’re the same price everywhere.
Well, apparently at least at one place they are now out of stock.Seriously. How are people making money on iPads? They’re the same price everywhere.
They're amazing. They're also $$$.What happened to OLED sets? I thought that was going to be the next level.
I thought the same thing when I went by my local Best Buy on the way home from Thanksgiving at the in-laws and saw the line around the building.. #crazyWent by a Best Buy yesterday (turns out they're still in business) and saw about 10 people camping in tents. Sad that they apparently don't have friends or family that spending that time with would be more valuable then saving a few bucks on crappy electronics.

I dunno. We were trying to figure that out last night in the car. Everybody has similar deals in stores near them. We figured he has to sell them overseas? Can you even make arbitrage on that stuff anymore?
Look at me! I make a lot of money like Otis and Chet, now!Yeah, I get that. Just a few short years ago $170 would have been a lot of money for me too. But if you can't work a few extra hours somewhere to make the difference, or can't afford to spend $170 extra because it will break you financially, maybe don't buy a new 55" tv at all.

This is funny. Can probably get 4 of these for a grand now. If not a half dozen.Circuit City's selling a 46" Sharp Aquos for about a grand under their regular price.

Says 13 is out of stock when I load it into my card.
And things are cheaper now than they were 10 years ago...go figure.Hey guys, as specific technology becomes more mainstream, the price goes down. Apparently a couple people in this thread are just learning about it.
The marginal improvements in quality and tiny decrease in price now vs 10 years ago has to factor. In 2000 there was a bigger ceiling and lower floor for panels.Hey guys, as specific technology becomes more mainstream, the price goes down. I wear these with my Dickies.
I’d bet this is for gifts, Secret Santa in his town, needy families getting a great present, etc.Can you even make arbitrage on that stuff anymore?Just saw a guy buy 42 ipads, 17 Rokus and 14 PlayStation. Bill was over 13k.
The hopeful outlook. Be cool if that's what it is.I’d bet this is for gifts, Secret Santa in his town, needy families getting a great present, etc.
