and always say the same self deprecating jokes about their game.. I get it, you're in the woods so much you can tell me which plants are edible, unless you are Bob Hope, stop it.

All of the serious golfers I know say "play golf".

I have a buddy who has a close connection to the PGA Tour and like to mock the golf as a verb folks. "He really golfed his ball good".

I also say hoop or ball as a verb.  That doesn't seem worthy of something worth being irked by

"Play golf" sounds dumb to me too. Ask your buddy if he can get everyone to start using "chase around golf balls".

The real question is why is the word people put in quotes?  Are these fake people pretending to be people?

I play a lot of golf in Bergen county NJ which has a very large Asian population, and they're golfing ALL THE TIME.

Yesterday I was playing with a 75 year old Korean man who, despite speaking absolutely no English, was very adamant about giving me tips. A whole lot of hand movements and body gyrations in order to attempt to get his message across.

Those are the "people" I hate.

I wish I had time to golf & get back into it.  Unfortunately, I am stuck with hobbies like pokemon go these days...

can you rate his garlic odor on a scale of 1-10?

Golf extrapolated humor:

Hit a good drive past your opponent - a "Linda Ronstadt" (for the song Blue Bayou)

Badly pull a drive - a "Thurman Munson" (dead Yank)
