If Carolina ends up keeping Pep, what becomes of the value of Charles Johnson? Is he just a backup DL?
In IDP terms, yes, Tyler Brayton played so well last season -- particularly in the second half of the year -- that it's hard to project Johnson to an every-down base defensive role. He's proven now that he can be effective rushing the passer on nickel downs and has the size to hold up against the run, though, so his value remains high as a back end roster player in deeper dynasty leagues. Like Richard Marshall, he may have to continue to bide his time, but should be an effective box score performer when his full-time opportunity finally comes.
