Percy Harvin (1 Viewer)

I'm starting to get really concerned about this guy. Migraines this bad might be the result of another more severe problem with him. Maybe something wrong with the brain? Cardiovascular issues which might lead to stroke? I'm merely speculating obviously but it just concerns me that a young, well conditioned athlete can be put on his back because of constant and pervasive migraines. I sure hope that there isn't some lingering issue with him that doctors have yet to catch.

Maybe he needs to get in touch with JaMarcus Russell for a little sizzurp. It'd keep him hydrated and relieve the stress that's causing the migraines. Voila! Good to go!
I thought it was referred to as "Purple Drank"
Those are two of the names, and you're right that PD is the most common. There are others as well. JaMarcus has used "sizzurp" when he's referred to it.

Too me his commitment level is in question. I know about the migranes and players get dinged and family members die etc. but the truly dedicated ones find something deep inside to fight threw all of it and do their job. The Vikings are paying him millions of dollars to practice and play football not sit out practice and games. I'd like to know how many practices he has missed since he entered the league, it seems like a bunch. I see this as a character issue, no different than players who are constantly late or falling asleep in meetings etc.
Really bad fishing attempt. Or just pathetic. You tell me which aand we can go from there.

Aha. I thought "Purple Drank" was a little more funny, given that Harvin is a Viking.

I've seen plenty of people post in these forums saying they suffer from horrible migraines or know someone who does (two recently in the SLIPPERY SLOPE thread). I don't understand why it's so hard to believe that Harvin might actually have a serious problem with them, especially after his very close grandmother just died

His approach was little blunt (no pun intended), but it looks to me like the two-deep bashing might have been a little premature.
Nah, it was the blunt part that was unwarranted - had he simply been civil and logical and made his points, this would have been a good discussion thread a long time ago.The op was bashing Harvin when it was still reasonable to assume he was dealing with his grandmother's death. And while it's steadily looking worse now, I'm still not automatically going to assume this is just some kind of punk move by Harvin.

Any of you consider the possibility that last year he played despite the migranes and will again when it actually counts this year???

Ironic that his character is being questioned here and it might be the exact opposite in that we might have a guy who played last season with a very debilitating condition, yet only missed one game as a result. I know he had the migrane problem for several other weeks but played and played well on game day each time.

I'm not worried until we get more definitive information. All I see in here is pure speculation and conjecture. And some of it is down right disgraceful in nature considering the actual facts at hand.

Hist first post was "He's been out several days for a death in the family and a day prior to the family thing he went down with what was called at the time a mystery ailment. Who else is starting to feel there is some underlying issues with Percy. Does he get a pass due to his talent level? He seems to be out of practice more than he is in. "He was quite civil starting out and the bashing began because people did not like his opinion that it called Harvin's character into question.

You can change the thread title now. He's back in camp. Be sure to kick this up if he drops any passes this season. I'll be sure to bump it every time he scores.

It's a miracle. Nothing cures your ailments like a "five day letter". Very similar to giving deadbeat tenants a "three day eviction letter". :goodposting:
So, tell the truth. Do you want the guy to be a failure? (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Schadenfreude)

Or are you a fan and you're honestly concerned about his commitment level?
There wouldn't even be a thread if the guy showed up to practice and did his job. As long as he remains in practice this thread is over.

Harvin vomited and collapsed. Two Deep, NOW do you believe he actually had migraine problems? Or do you think he made himself throw up just to get out of practice?

I never said he didn't have migrane problems,. I said it would be easy to use as an excuse to get out of practice. If he vomitted obviously this time it is legit. He may want to think about hanging the cleats up though. If they are stress related, and with professional football being stressful, sounds like a recipe for disaster.

So you still think he was just using it as an excuse to get out of practice?I asked someone else in the other thread, but do think quitting football will lessen his migraines? I thought he had them since he was a little kid...

I call bullsh*t.
Wed. 8/11/2010 Still no Percy. I know, I know he has migraines, but 10 days. I call bullsh*t

Two Deep just comes off like a complete tool in these threads. He's the rare guy that is on my ignore list but I keep trying to view his stuff in hopes that he has a shred of maturity in them. Nope.

Yeah and? I still call bull#### that he had migranes for 10 days.

Yeah, I think I won't bother with this thread any more..

Whatever, do you think this hurts my feelings? I have an opinion and am not afraid to express it and that somehow scares the lessers. Keep trying to ignore me, but you're going to peek. Your inability to accept opposing viewpoints say's a lot about your maturity level.

If he wasn't in the NFL he'd be on welfare, cause he sure as hell wouldn't pull his ### out of bed to work.
How easy would it be to say, you know what coach my headaches are flaring up I'm going to need to lay down.

Percy Harvin Collapses; Taken to Hospital --

ESPN reports Minnesota Vikings WR Percy Harvin left the practice field in an ambulance early Thursday afternoon after having what HC Brad Childress described as an "episode" related to his chronic migraine headaches. According to Childress, the incident started during a pre-practice special teams session, when Harvin looked into the sky to see a punt, experienced a migraine and went inside for a time. "Came back out and had an episode," Childress said. "I don't know how to classify it. Not really a seizure, but he had some trouble over here. I'd be remiss if I try to qualify it one way or the other." Harvin went down on all fours shortly after returning to the practice field around 12:10 p.m. and appeared unstable. By 12:20, Harvin was flat on his back as team doctors and trainers surrounded him to provide treatment. An EMT soon arrived and players -- practice had stopped after the installation period, leaving running backs and tight ends on one field wit h Harvin and the rest of the team on another -- formed a human wall to shield the scene from reporters. "As we say, those things can be debilitating," Childress said. "Obviously, that one hit and it hit hard, and it's always scary for all of our guys when you see a teammate struggling with whatever." Childress said Harvin was trembling, disoriented and for a time was "a little bit unresponsive."

Man, the tool factor is dialed way up in this thread.

If you read the whole article, not only did Harvin vomit and collapse, he was taken off the field in an ambulance. Clearly, this kid has a serious health problem and I hope he gets the help he needs. He seems to have amazing talent and it would be a shame if his career is cut short before it had a chance to get off the ground.

This thread, in my opinion, is a perfect example of why jumping to conclusions and in this case, questioning a player's committment is never really justified unless you have all the facts.

3 minutes ago - WR Percy Harvin (migraines) was missing from practice Thursday a day after making his return. Harvin's status for this Saturdays game, and the rest of the season, is very day to day as the team scrambles to get his migraines under control. Vikings RapidReports

Well at least he made one practice. Apparently he has migranes 99% of practices now.

According to head team trainer Eric Sugarman, the Vikings are confident that they can prevent episodes similar to the one Percy Harvin had on the practice field this week going forward. The Vikings can't prevent migraines, but they don't believe Harvin passed out because of a migraine on Thursday. It's believed Harvin vomited and lost consciousness due to "an adverse reaction to medication, dehydration and low blood pressure." Harvin has already resumed weightlifting and running. Sugarman indicated Harvin is doing so well that he could've played Sunday night against San Francisco. He should definitely be ready for Week 1.Source: NBC Sports:

Whats your point? Obvioiusly they are still trying to figure out what exactly is going on. The dude is with the team, yet you are still going on and on about it. Who cares? If you own him, then follow the news yourself. No need to constantly come back and point out the obvious - That Percy Harvin has migraine issues.

Updating a previous item, coach Brad Childress said Percy Harvin (migraines) has one more test to pass and could be cleared for Saturday's preseason game.

There was some confusion over whether Harvin practiced on Wednesday. Even though he was in pads with the team, he did not practice. That said, the battery of tests on Harvin have come back clean so far. He's close to being cleared and should immediately resume full practices after that. Again, we're not scared off by Harvin's migraine issues. He gets a huge bump with Sidney Rice (hip) out indefinitely.

I apologize to Percy Harvin.

(KFFL) Minnesota Vikings WR Percy Harvin (migraines) is taking part in pregame warmups and said he will play in the team's preseason game Saturday, Aug. 28, reports ESPN's Rachel Nichols.
