Peyton Hillis or Jerome Harrison who is the guy? (1 Viewer)

Well I guess we can add James Davis to the mix now but it sounds like it might come at the expense of Harrison.

Harrison had an awful week last Sunday and now missed practice with a thigh injury nobody knew about before today. Sounds like Harrison may be pouting and be on the verge of being demoted to #3. Of course, that would be guessing on what Mangini is thinking and we all know that is a silly excerise.

It's clear that Harrison isn't the guy here. Hillis isn't the future but he is probably the best option for this year. The cleveland rb situation is no better than the seahawks situation. If you're in a bind throw one of those guys out there and hope for the best. Nothing more to be seen here.

Dynasty there is really nothing here.

You've gotta be Nostradamus (or, Nostradumbass?) to try and predict who's going to be getting the most carries here on out for the Browns. Mangini in his press conferences was clearly pissed off about a lot of things with this team. He's not going to be afraid to make drastic moves, e.g. sitting either RB for extended periods. Both have put the ball on the ground in bigtime situations this year. And I promise you, Mangini is NOT going to telegraph in any way what he's going to do.So be very very careful trying to predict this situation.
Yes it is very murky indeed you have to be some kind of careful prophet to predict that the guy who is the starter, who busts his butt, who the current regime traded for might be able to hold off a change of pace back who loses focus repeatedly.
Did you predict that Harrison would double the number of carries that Hillis had last week? Didn't think so. :wall:

Don't have stats for them on week 2 yet, but if anyone is interested in week 1...

Harrison was in for 30 plays. He had 10 rushes, 15 times he went out on pass routes, 2 times he was a run blocker and 3 times a pass blocker.

Hillis was in for 35 plays. He had 9 rushes, 13 times he went out on pass routes. He was a run blocker 4 times and 9 times a pass blocker.

where do you get those stats from gregR?
ProFootballFocus.com Found them through the Shark Pool here awhile back, and went looking for Kevin Walter and Jacoby Jones stats for another thread and was disappointed to find they are a premium site now... and a pretty pricey one at that. :lmao:I took the plunge and will decide if it's worth the price at the end of the season. But figure I'll get my money's worth and throw out the stats in discussions here when they seem like they might be nice to know.

:goodposting: Thanks for the info. Would love to see week 2 as well.

Week 2:Harrison 34 plays. 16 rushes, 14 passes. 2 plays run blocking, 2 plays pass blocking.Hillis 30 plays. 8 rushes, 17 passes, 1 run block, 4 pass blocks.

Seems like Hillis is being used more as a 3rd down back. If Harrison falls out of favor, it will be interesting to see if Hillis moves into the first/second down role, or whether he sticks as 3rd down+ and someone else takes Harrison's role.

Hillis crushing it right now against a top D. Gotta give him credit, but also props to the O line, for sure, they look good.

Started DeAngelo over him for three weeks in a row. Now I know why I'm going to be 0-3. Hillis gets the start next week.

What is the trade value for Hillis now?Crazy that Cleveland is 0-3 by a total of 12 points.
Hard to say. I offered numerous trades in the leages where I own Hillis this past week. Trades like Hillis + Ochocinco for Roddy White, Hillis + Zach Miller for Dallas Clark, Hillis + Donald Driver for Steve Smith (CAR). None of these offers were accepted or produced counteroffers. I bet this week, there is more interest, but how much is hard to say.

People seem to have a difficult time trading away their studs/top 3 round draft picks for a WW pickup even if that WW pickup is top 10 RB right now.

Exactly.I would still like to trade away Hillis because I worry about his longevity the way he runs. But you might have better luck trading away another player like Clinton Portis, even though Portis should be less valuable than Hillis right now.

For those of us who own the guy, I'm starting to believe the thing to do is hold and play him. Honestly, why trade the guy unless your getting crazy value in return.

In the leagues in which I own him, I'm well-stocked at RB. I'm thinking the thing to do is trade away a name recognition guy.

Hillis looked great today and had some pretty big holes to run through. The O-line did very well for him.

Hillis is not a good trade asset in my opinion. He gives a team more value by playing. In fantasy sports, it seems that there is real value and perceived value. What increases perceived value is name recognition, fitting the generic form of a breakout candidate, or rookie value. Hillis has none of these, thus his real value is far superior to his perceived value. Other players like Ryan Mathews have a far higher perceived value than real value (i even include potential in real value).

Finally a RB 3 emerges for me on my long time local dynasty league. Took a flier on him in the 4th round of our rookie/free agent draft!

I changed my avatar early this morning just because I wanted to give props to Hillis for being what I feel may be the biggest kept "secret" in the NFL at the RB position. I honestly didn't expect a game like this against the Ravens, though.

After what Hillis did as a rookie in '08 for Denver, McDaniels should've been lambasted for not using Hillis last year. He's a very good runner & excellent receiver. No excuse for not using him.

Fast forward to 2010 & he goes to another questionable HC, IMO. Hillis has GOT to be their feature back, but I wouldn't put anything past Mangini. We'll see what happens, but he'll find a home somewhere eventually. Peyton Hillis is a quality NFL RB.

For those of us who sat him...cant beat ourselves up...it was Baltimore, that was a horrible matchup. Wouldve taken alot of guts to start him today. At least it looks like we have a decent #2 RB going forward, especially PPR.

I traded Hillis away yesterday. :kicksrock:

I just figured he has 6 games vs Pitt/Balt/Cincy where he won't do much even if he gets the full-time job. Guess I was wrong there...

At least I got Orton for him, and he had just as big a day so the value is pretty even.

seems like fair value to me.im attempting to trade hillis for colston

I've seen all I need to see. This guy is a bulldozer. It is silly the way he moves a pile.

Some of his runs yesterday were :o ...

He carries defenders like Mark Bavaro used to. Therefore, it doesn't matter if it's "a good run defense" he's facing because he's not a typical RB and it appears he has an above average run-blocking O-line. If he can run on Baltimore, he can run on anyone.

Now I just have to find room for him in my lineup. It's a nice problem to have, granted.
