Peyton Manning (1 Viewer)

Most who picked Peyton as their #1 QB have played him every week. Some didn't even draft a backup QB. Astute owners snagged the likes of Orton and Vick off the WW to block other teams from adding them knowing they most likely wouldn't go QBBC and will keep playing Manning every week.

Now here we are going into week 11 and Manning has lost Dallas Clark and A Gonzo for the year and Collie and White are dealing with injuries as is Tamme plus their running game has been hurt with injuries. Has it come time to replace Manning with either Orton or Vick completely or do you try the QBBC approach? It seems that with Orton and Vick you can expect more consistency on a week to week basis with a higher ceiling.

The question also applies to Manning owners that drafted late #2 QBs that are now coming on like Freeman and Garrard although I'd think these owners would be more inclined to play matchups and go RBBC.

You could put the water boy at split end and Manning will still put up numbers. You keep starting him.
I disagree. If your choice is bet/ Vick and Manning, Vick is both the safe pick and the higher reward pick at this point (at least until the Colts start getting healthy again). Manning's fantasy numbers have progressively decreased from week to week and that is no coincidence.

This has to be a joke....Payton is a top 5 guy this year in almost every scoring system...Most Manning owners were not lucky enough with waiver wire priority to have a chance at Vick and if you had Orton on the WW you should stop playing in 8-man leagues...

Some people need to take a step back once in a while. If you're in a 12 team league and guys that draft Brees, Brady and Manning don't take a backup that leaves 11 starting QBs on the wire with 21 taken. Are you telling me that Orton was a consensus top 21 QB on draft day? I had him ranked at 17. In a 12 team league he could have been lower on many owner's lists and therefore not drafted even if 24 QBs were taken. Remember the biggest concern was how would the void left with Marshall's absence be filled. Not many were enamored with Royal, Gaffney and Lloyd on draft day either. Some people like to gamble and those that do picked up Vick after week 2. What you're saying is that you didn't have WW priority after he blew up again in week 3 and was named the starter. My point with this discussion is that Manning's stats have declined by about 40% on average since the first 4 games while Vick has played like a demon possessed and Orton has been remarkably consistent. I'm seeing a higher floor and a higher ceiling with both of these options right now. Of course that could change in 2 weeks.

I think that if you're fortunate enough to have a Manning/Orton or Manning/Vick combo, you trade one of the guys for a RB or WR.

Personally, I have Eli Manning and Kyle Orton, and I'm looking to do that.

Here's Peyton's #s over the year (sorry if the table formatting is funky):

wk FP Opp Cmp Att Yds TD Int

1 33.32 at Texans 40 57 433 3 0

2 26.90 vs Giants 20 26 255 3 0

3 30.90 at Broncos 27 43 325 3 0

4 22.98 at Jaguars 33 46 352 2 1

5 6.46 vs Chiefs 26 44 244 0 1

6 21.18 at Skins 25 38 307 2 0

7 Bye

8 22.02 vs Texans 26 45 268 2 0

9 10.76 at Eagles 31 51 294 1 2

10 5.40 vs Bengals 20 36 185 0 0

You can see he was fine right up until Week 5, when he then transformed into an average QB. The yardage went down, the TDs went down, and the interceptions went up.

It's simple really - with NFL caliber receivers, the dude's a stud. With practice squad receivers, he's an average QB. It's really impressive he's able to do even this well (averaging 10-15 fantasy points a week since Week 5) with what he has.

My league starts 2 QBs, and I have Peyton, Orton, Hill, and Kitna on my roster. Next week, I'm starting Orton and seriously considering going with Hill over Peyton. I spent a pretty penny to get Peyton, but when the numbers are what they are for the last month and a half, you have to listen to what they're saying.
