PFT Report: Sherman Gets Arizona HC Job (1 Viewer)

You people are crazy. All Sherman did was have one of the best offenses in the league mulitple years running. And that was with basicly Favre and one good year from Walker. You wait and see. Grab Edge for cheap now. You will thank me later.
Agree, and did Andre Johnson truely breakout this year? or am I forgetting that?I like it. And hope he gets some O-line help here quick.
He caught alot of passes, but his 2004 season was alot "better" and more of a "breakout".
This is partially true. 2004 and 2006 look very similar yardage wise and TD wise, but before David Carr imploded, Johnson was easily have his best year.Games 1-11:

84 receptions, 992 yards and 5 TDs or 7.6 receptions, 90.2 yards and 0.45 TDs Per Game

Games 12-16:

19 receptions, 156 yards and 0 TDs or 3.8 receptions, 31.2 yards and 0 TDs Per Game

Also, in 2006, AJ's best game was 152 yards with 0 TDs and never had more than one TD in a game. In those first 11 games, he had 9 games where he had at least 75 yards (the other 2 were above 50 yards) and in PPR leagues, he had 9 of 11 games with 6 or more receptions. He was very consistent until the end.

In 2004, he had a 12 reception, 170 yard, 2TD game. He had 3 other 100 yard games, but many, many more clunkers.

Again, on the surface they look very similar, but until the last 5 games, he was far and away having his best season. In my PPR league, he was the #1 WR for the first half of the season until CJ had his 2 huge games and Colston had his 3 huge games. I am pretty sure he was top 5 until the game 12-16 slide.

The question with AJ for next year is whether or not he stays consistent all year. If you looked at the second half of 2005 after he missed 4 or 5 games to injury, the start to 2006 was not surprising. He averaged almost 7 receptions and 80 yards per game in his last 8 games (Note, I do not count week 17 against SF as to me, they weren't trying to win that one).
Actually, AJ went out with an injury in the first quarter of that SF game. Johnson's slide started when Kubiak took that ball out of Carr's hands and put it into Ron Dayne's. The negative numbers line-up exactly to Ron Dayne's positive one.

I'm not a PFT "apologist", but they seem to be right on this one.

Multiple reports Friday, including one from foxsports.com, said the Cardinals were ready to offer Sherman the job during his second interview, but Sherman had asked for a $4 million salary, a number beyond what the Cards want to pay.

The Cardinals are expected to try to hire a coach at between $2 million and $3 million a season. Former coach Dennis Green was making about $2.5 million.

It is now being reported that the Cardinals are close to hiring Whisenhunt and the Steelers are interested in Sherman.

I wouldn't be surprised at all if these reports are just negotiating ploys between the Steelers and Whiz. Whiz has stated the Steelers would be his #1 choice and Sheman (to a lesser extent, Gailey) makes absolutely no sense for the Steelers and just doesn't fit what the Rooney's look for in a coach. I believe the 2 parties are just trying to gain leverage.

 Their article says that the Cardinals chose Sherman. Other news outlets have confirmed that they offered him the job, but Sherman said no because he wanted $4 million.

True PFT didn't consider the possibility that Sherman would say no, but they were spot on about the job being his if he wanted it.

Well for what it's worth if you haven't read this somewhere else

:goodposting: Please keep this thread alive for the PFT apologists who always throw out the "Why the hate for PFT???" when someone mocks that site as a reliable source of football information. If I throw enough poo against the wall, some of it will stick.
