PGA Tour Thread: 2019 Season Ends (2 Viewers)

Buddy went to Vegas last week and we plunked decent coin down on Brooks with smaller wagers on Rose, Fowler, Bryson and Kuchar and then moonshot wagers on Watson, Simpson, Kisner and Kim (all >65/1)...

32 draftkings lineups, $1K on draft.com, another few hundred on FD, yahoo and fantasydraft. Going huge on this thing.

This open is going to be epic.  Winning score will be -14.  Tiger, Koepka and DJ will all have a shot on Sunday.  Rory sadly won’t be a factor.

Koepka for win.  Sucks but that’s my feeling.   This course can’t hurt him.

Hard not to like the chalk here, you don't have to go too far out on a limb to say DJ or Koepka and one of them may very well win this.

For a few outside the elite, I like Tony Finau, Webb Simpson and Xander Schauffle.  Oh and I'll add DJ to that foursome.

-14? half that, maybe. Closer to 5-6.

Yeah, go back and look at US Open Pebble Beach winners... -1, +1, -2, etc.

Except 2000 when Tiger won with -12.  Wanna know 2nd place that year?

+3

:lmao:

crazy....just insane how dominant Tiger was back then.

Our tourney is pick 4 players, most total money won takes it.  Tiebreaker is ending score to par.

Went chalky:

Koepka, DJ, Tiger, Spieth.  -7

Went contrarian against Rory.  Normally fade guys who win big the week immediately preceding a major.  Adam Scott is my alternate.  Like him.  Tiger and Spieth could go either way.  DeChambeau burned me at PGA so couldn't go to him again.  Xander is a serious threat.  Phil has a great track record here, didn't include him but maybe should have. Cantlay is another in the mix.  Putting at Pebble is no picnic.  Will come down to GIR and eliminating doubles.

All about irons and short game this week.

Outside Tier 1, i went with Day, Na, Lowry, Sned, and Kisner.

Sneds, Koepka, Spieth, Rose and Tiger all going off late should make for an enjoyable evening of TV golf here in the eastern time zone.

I purposely worked out a 3.5 hour layover so I can sit in front of a tv with a beer without any distractions that I’d get at home or work. Hopefully I’ll be able to walk to my plane.

Seems gettable this morning but us open winner has been double digits under only one time in something like 18 years. they'll tweak that thing.
I think Day 1 was more to see how everyone did as a whole.  They caught too much crap the past couple of years to make it crazy tough.  I think they're erring on the side of easy this year, but will be able to dial it in harder.

Honestly, I'm good with the US Open being ridiculously hard.  Not unfair, but hard.  To hear the pros complain about having to play a tough course once a year is stupid.  Suck it up, Buttercup.  For me, it's a good US Open if only 2 or 3 players are under par when it's over.

Hope you’re right.  I just don’t think the course is long enough.  I know it’s a second shot course but these guys will be firing at pins with wedges out of the fairway a ton.

Koepka is going to shoot -7 tonight.

My picks have been all over the place.  2 over, 2 under.  There doesn't seem to be a lot of consistency today.  Unfortunately I won't get to see any of it.  Maybe catch a little at the airport but that's about it.  Poor travel scheduling on my part.  Although I've done worse.  Luckily Game 6 of the WS got rained out because I was on a flight during that game and almost missed seeing them accomplish something I had waited almost 30 years for.

Here are the results of the Majors played at Pebble Beach:
1972 US Open - Jack Nicklaus won with +2
1977 PGA Championship - Lanny Wadkins -6
1982 US Open - Tom Watson -6
2000 US Open - Tiger Woods -12 (15 FIFTEEN strokes ahead!)
2010 US Open - Graeme McDowell E

I dunno, I think this can be pretty challenging, unless your name is Tiger Woods and the year is 2000.

point taken.  But they are playing a different game now.

Re distance comparisons, Tiger said it’s playing the same for him as ‘00...shorter because of equipment and longer because of his age.  I’m guessing that means shorter then ‘00 for the long guys DJ, Koep, Rory...

Rory may be a factor.  he is -3 and parred every par 5.  hard to see him not being under par every day.

The USGA is going to let these greens get bananas.

That up and down by DJ at 8 was out of this world.  If you've ever played that hole, you know how dead that ball was.  In that rough too.  Ridic.

-10 so far with Spieth and Koepka still to play.  My throw away score right now is par.  Can't win it on Day 1, but I'm in a good spot.
