Philadelphia Eagles at Dallas Cowboys ::Thanksgiving Showdown:: (1 Viewer)

All the pressure is on Dallas.....home game against a backup QB. Would be nice to steal it but considering the circumstances I don't think it's one we are supposed to win.
I dont know that I agree. The line (the last time I checked) was Dallas -3....That's an Eagles line
That's crazy. People are forgetting who Sanchize really is.
I'm certainly not banging the drum for Sanchez (and want Foles to get his job back when healthy) but the QB play has gone up in the last 3 games. Sanchez has a higher QB rating than Foles. Not like Foles wasn't a turnover machine this year himself. Just sayin'.

Sanchez did not lose the GB game. Didn't look good, but didn't lose it.

I dont know that I agree it went up either. At some point during the Tenn game they flashed Mark's stats and they were nearly identical to Foles'. Whats changed is that the running game was there in both wins which opened a lot of stuff up.

I think its been very similar. Certainly not Romo-to-Weeden bad.

Foles is a joke of a QB?

Bernie Logan?

Cowboys' fans knowledgeable as always.
Yes. Foles is horrendous. Do you have any recent evidence that proves otherwise?

On the Bennie VS Bernie Logan comment. W/O looking, do you know the names of our DTs?
You have a strange definition of horrendous. He was 4th in QBR last year and still 13th this year, despite his mediocre play. He is obviously far from the best, but also far from horrendous.

No, I do not know the names, but I would likely be able to read them properly if I were going to post something about them and not act like it was irrelevant when pointed out.

For the record, the Eagles (or anyone) will obviously have a difficult time with the Cowboys' OL.

Horrendeous is just my normal hyperbole. I do not respect Foles. I have watched him play and he just doesn't scare me one bit.

Horrendeous Bernie , horrendeous!!!!

I have watched Romo play and he sort of scares me. For 3.5 quarters. But, since I have watched him play, I feel confident that he'll hand over the game in the 4th. And I feel pretty good about saying that Sanchez finishes with a better day than Romo. Bang!

If the Eagles pull it out it will be from blitzing successfully. Romo often struggle against it. Look at what the Redskins did - and what the Giants didn't do.

FWIW:

@973espn: "Cowboys fans are still cautious, fans in Dallas believe Philadelphia is a better team." - @GreatDonovan tells us from The Ticket in Dallas.
We do?
The Cowboy fans in Dallas need to take some of the drunken hubris from the cowboy fans in Philly. They think the cowboys have won the Super Bowl every year. Except after a loss. Then we don't hear from them.
#### I have tons of eagles fans that I'm friends with you guys are poster child's for "this is our year"

Really? if the Cowboys had dirty and we were pumpin him up like eagles fans, could you imagine what you'd be sayin? Its dirty.....He's a chump!

Don't expect a lot of defense. A lot of fantasy points. 1 or 2 Sanchez interceptions are the difference: 31-27 Cowboys.

Two huge games this weekend and I have players on both sides in both. Does it get any better as a TV fan?

Dallas - Iggles I have Demarco and Sanchez

KC-Denver I have DT, Sanders and Kelce

Pass the popcorn please!

Everyone knows not to pump up dirty.

I'm not pumping up dirty. But I think the Cowboys defense is a fraud and after watching that mouth breather Eli light up the Cowboys secondary I feel confident that Sanchez will have a good game.

The total for this game is 54.5...there will be a ton of pts scored. Would not be surprised to see the winning team put up a 40-spot here.

Looking at each game, Dallas defense has been aided in such a huge way by Murray and the oline. Last year they averaged 68.4 plays per game which was 27th in the league. This year they are only on the field for 60.5 plays per game which is 4th in the league. Having a defense off the field for 8 extra plays a game is huge.

The key for the Eagles is stopping Murray at all costs. If he gets going, he runs the clock and eats away at the time the Eagles have to wear on Dallas' defense. The Eagles defense hasn't been too bad against the run. I think they take their chances with Romo, stop Murray and blitz like crazy. I don't think they'll sit back like they did in Green Bay.

Holy crap Eagles fans...lol

I found the information on a fan website, where it was spelled incorrectly. It's not exactly like this guy is some household name.

Foles OK, I am not trashing him.

48-47 Cowboys
Highly possible.

Romo's career stats on Thanksgiving Day:

18 TD (vs 6 INT)

6-1 Win-Loss

107.27 QB Rating
Romo's Thanksgiving day Opponents:

4-12 TB

4-12 NYJ

4-12 Sea

5-11 Oak

6-10 Mia

10-6 Was (Loss)

4-12 Oak

Looks like Romo has feasted on a lot of Thanksgiving Turkeys.
Served....haha.
Easy there. I would say that the performance of the Eagles secondary may in fact categorize them as Turkeys :oldunsure:

All the pressure is on Dallas.....home game against a backup QB. Would be nice to steal it but considering the circumstances I don't think it's one we are supposed to win.
I hate the terminology "all the pressure is on....." especially in this circumstance. There is equal pressure on both teams. It's a very important game and the winner is in the driver's seat.

Sanchez a year ago was the equivalent of RG3 now. Chip can apparently work some miracles but with Sanchez at QB no way should we be expected to take this game. I will be happy if we do as we all know Romo can screw up but we have had significant injuries to key positions.

My Game prediction: back and forth, offensive game. Birds score a couple long TD's but falter in the RZ, resulting in a few FGs. Romo throws the timely pick towards the end of the game, and Parkey kicks the game winner as time expires.

Birds win 33-31

I looked at common opponents this season. For common opponents, The Eagles beat opponents by more points (Jacksonville, Giants, Tennessee, St. Louis, Houston) , lost to opponents by less points (Arizona, San Francisco), and beat teams the Cowboys lost to (Washington). Actually, there wasn't a single situation where the birds didn't lose by less points, win by more points, or lose to someone they beat. I was really surprised to see no outliers there. The two teams are very close, but the Eagles are better. Period. I'm excited to see this game unfold on Thursday.

Not sure how to say this without sounding disrespectful...but Eagles fans think this rivalry is more important then we do. There are 4 maybe 5 teams I think are more important historical rivals. I get you guys hate us, but we really don't think about you guys as much as you do about us.

I find Eagles fans (Not all) the hardest to respect and have a decent conversation with in real life and here. I have great relationships with Skins/Giants fans who I both view as greater rivals.

Anyways, yes there is some interesting history, lot's of bad blood and hurt feelings. The above piece made me chuckle though. You guys enjoy your Lito song and beating Bledsoe.

Should be interesting tomorrow.

that's cool. I don't need Cowboys fans to hate the Eagles in order to hate the Cowboys and Philadelphia based Cowboy fans. Have fun talking to your Giants-Fan friends. I ####### hate them too. no one cares about the skins.

I don't think it's a big rivalry, recently Cowboys haven't been good. 20 years ago when Boys were good we weren't on that level.

Lifelong Eagles fan here, and I always found that bizarre. I can't think of any other one-way rivalry like this one. Personally, I think more recently Eagles-Giants is the bigger/better rivalry, but the hatred for Dallas here has always been over the top. I think the biggest reason is the type of Dallas fans usually found in this (Philly) area. They're usually the stereotype bandwagon fan that has almost no knowledge of football, but are also the most obnoxious, in your face people when Dallas is doing well. Those guys just irritate the hell out of you and make you want to hate the team even more.

Mets-Yankees might be another one-way rivalry.

Yeah my point is simply that both teams have a lot of pressure. Winner is in the driver's seat for the division while the loser has to make up ground. This term "all the pressure is on....." is such an overused cliche in sports but it's ridiculous IMO. Regardless of who the favorite is, there is a ton of pressure for both teams. Sorry just a pet peeve of mine.

There was a Cowboys fan on Philly sports radio the other day claiming the Cowboys don't consider the Eagles their rivals. They consider the Steelers and Niners their true rivals. Apparently this guy has been cryogenically frozen for a couple decades. I got a nice laugh out of it.

It wasn't me calling...lol...but I agree. Yes it was years ago, but I still remember that and those were important big games that I got up for and had a ton of real meaning. Not philly fans cheering an Irvin injury, TO's return or your coach trying to kill a kicker.

Yes there is hate. That is real and mutual. Can't stand the team, the fans, almost all of the players and anything Philly. I just don't think of you guys when I think rivalry. Maybe it means something different to me. I am not rubbing it in, but you guys haven't enjoyed superior success at our expense over your franchises history with some small exceptions. This is why I view NY, Wash, SF, Pittsburgh (Maybe GB on par with you guys) as more significant rivals.

I don't speak for all fans...just my thoughts.

For the record, I'm actually a Steelers fan (born and raised in Pittsburgh). I just happen to live in Philly. By the way, I no longer even remotely consider the Cowboys a rival of the Steelers. Rivalries in this day and age are typically divisional with a few exceptions (I.e. Manning vs Brady)

My hatred for the Cowboys stems from the attitude that they're bigger than the game. I get that vibe from (local) fans and the national media even though there's an entire generation of fans growing up in an era where the 'Boys haven't won squat. But there always seem to be this national fawning over a very mediocre team. They seem to get shoved in our face no matter what their record is.

Anyway, close game tomorrow with the Cowboys pulling it out. I say this only because its a Thursday game and feel if it was a typical week the Eagles would win. Happy Thanks giving everyone.

Fly, Eagles fly, on the road to victory, Fight Eagles fight, score a touchdown one-two-three. Hit 'em low, Hit 'em high, And watch our Eagles fly. Fly, Eagles fly, on the road to victory! E-A-G-L-E-S, Eagles!

The you haven't really had any rivals for about 20 years.

In today's NFL with free agency I don't know that any really exist anymore.

Well I have ridiculous amounts of FF staked on this game.

Tony/Dez/ v Parkey/Maclin/Mccoy/Eagles D

Just hoping for an exciting game that I can kick back and enjoy after hopefully seeing the Lions win. Should be a good one
