Anyone know when Bush is suppose to be back?
It's possible I suppose but I don't see it. Betts had two critical mistakes against the Cardinals but Jones is awful. He doesn't do anything better than Betts or Ivory. He isn't a better runner, he isn't a better receiver and he isn't better in goal-line situations. I could be wrong but this move makes me think Thomas won't play this week and Payton wants to have another RB available in case Betts and Ivory frustrate him again.Fat Nick said:Unless there is some glaring weakness that they see in Betts. I mean, they cut the guy once for a reason. Maybe they just felt Jones is an upgrade over Betts even with a healthy PT. Just a thought...packersfan said:That's what I'm wondering too. I don't know why you'd sign Jones if Thomas was coming back this week.Hug dog said:Saints signed RB Julius Jones, formerly of the Seahawks. So I am guess Thomas being out for a while is true.
Therein lies the answer-DEPTH replacementjeffduncantp #Saints just announced they've signed RB Julius Jones & S Matt Giordano & released PK John Carney & RB DeShawn Wynn.

Ladell Betts fumbles and tips another pass causing an interception. Those two turnovers led directly to 14 points by the Cardinals. The Saints lost by 10. And now the SP thinks signing Julius Jones has anything to do with the current health of Pierre Thomas?I'm saying it could be a sign Thomas won't be ready. You think that's an outrageous statement to make? It's possible I suppose but I don't see it. Betts had two critical mistakes against the Cardinals but Jones is awful. Jump to conclusions much? You do know they waived DeShawn Wynn today right? Julius Jones is NOT a signal of anything regarding Pierre's long-term health.if that were true they wouldnt have signed julius jones. im guessing its 6-season at this point.I posted Thomas was likely 2-3 weeks out when he missed last Sunday and I would guess that timeline is still close to true.
Totally agree.Julius Jones signed by the Saints. so some think this means PT is not healing well and the Saints are not happy with Betts/Ivory. SOunds to me like another dud switching teams. I maybe be wrong, I'll probably take a flyer on him
rotoworld.com- Jeff Duncan of the New Orleans Times-Picayune predicts that Pierre Thomas (ankle) will not play in Week 6.Duncan is likely reading tea leaves -- the same ones we can read. Thomas still can't practice, and the Saints have shown that they're concerned by signing street free agent running backs and admitting Thomas still has "soreness and swelling" in his ankle. It'd be another missed opportunity for Thomas. The Saints' Week 6 opponent, Tampa, ranks 30th in run defense. Oct. 13 - 5:36 pm etSource: Jeff Duncan on Twitter
Week 4 - picked up Betts (last minute) / started him - dropped him the following TuesdayWeek 5 - picked up Betts (last minute) / started him - dropped him the following TuesdayWeek 6 - I can't do it again ... can I?PS - Title really needs to be changed,CBS is saying maybe 2 weeksAnyone know when Bush is suppose to be back?
Good info here. This is one of the few guys I got wrong this year - Thomas has been a complete bust in what I thought would be a breakout year. You cannot predict injuries so I guess I should not be too upset with myself, but it has left a hole at my RB2 spot in a 16 team dynasty league I am in, and I just can not get it off of my mind.Regards,THE FANTASY KING

Good buy low candidate IMO. Some owners may be disgusted enough to get rid of him.
Reggie Bush should be owned.
I would dump his ### so quick if I could. I would take a Torain for himI don't think anything has changed compared to the last two games. Betts is the play in PPR leagues; Ivory is the play in standard leagues. So whos the back to own in this disgusting 3 headed monster
Betts. Ivory being charged with a felonySo whos the back to own in this disgusting 3 headed monster
Jones isn't a third-down RB. I don't see him impacting Betts much at all there unless Betts makes more mistakes. That's the only way I see Jones getting on the field substantially - if Betts and/or Ivory muck up. Both have done that so it's possible but assuming neither one makes an egregious error I think we'll see the same pattern we've seen the last two games - Betts and Ivory splitting rushing attempts with Betts getting the third-down work and Ivory being the top choice near the goal line.I have a feeling Ivory will be the play this week. I think the Saints are really going to make an effort to focus on the run this week against a weak Run D. They got it away from it last week against the Cardinals and it cost them. Ivory so far has played mostly in pure run situations and I think the gameplan for the Saints is probably to get Ivory 15 plus carries this week.A lot will depend on the score in the game though. The Saints still don't seem comforatable at all with Ivory as a pass blocker so if they get down in the game it will likely mean more Betts and less Ivory. If they are winning late then I would expect to see a heavy dose of Ivory late. I honestly don't think Jones factors in much at all this week and if he does it will be at Betts expense in passing situations IMO.
I think Betts and Ivory have both looked much better this season than Jones has looked in years. I'm not ruling anything out because the Saints clearly aren't getting what they want or need from the running game with Thomas and Bush hurt but I don't see Jones as anything more than an emergency option. He doesn't know the system, doesn't have Betts' third-down skills (and do not underestimate the trust factor Brees has with Betts; that's huge given this is a passing offense) and I don't think he has Ivory's talent. I think he'll need Betts and/or Ivory to massively screw up (which could happen) in order to receive a meaningful role.Jones has had more success and failure in the league than Ivory or Betts. As long as Pierre is out I can definitely see him getting playing time if only because of his experience.

This news is 2009 old my man and one the reasons he wasnt drafted. Please post info in context because this event has absolutely nothing to do with week 6 playing time.I agree. Obviously the injury is more substantial than what was initially revealed. It's funny that in the first thread about this injury 3 Sundays ago people were saying it was a non issue b/c he re-entered the game and I was even asked why I was making a big deal out of it when I expressed some concern.3 weeks later and he's still not practicing. FF wise I've been able to get by ok but will likely need PT as my flex or even RB2 depending on how things shake out. I'm just hoping that he comes back as close to 100% as possible and gives owners a solid contribution down the stretch.sometimes dont you have that feeling that they arent telling us the whole story? smells of high ankle sprain or worse, no evidence just a feeling...so 2 weeks no practice. 3rd week still no practice. julius jones signing. something just doesnt feel good about the whole situation.hopefully i am completely wrong and he is healthy enough to play sunday.

After last week ?!?! I don't think that trust is what it was a week ago. Betts was a disaster!I think Betts and Ivory have both looked much better this season than Jones has looked in years. He's still much better in pass pro than Ivory or Jones. I doubt he loses his role there. After last week ?!?! I don't think that trust is what it was a week ago. Brees is the franchise. No way they subject him to being back there without a back that can block. And I watched the game. Yes Betts dropped that center screen, but it's not like he's Reggie Bush, why is Brees even THROWING him the center screen at the 5 yard line. With another week of practice, I fully expect that Betts is in for the large majority of snaps this week.packersfan said:He's still much better in pass pro than Ivory or Jones. Does that mean there is a possibility he is out for the year? From Jeff Duncan via Twitter: jeffduncantp Payton said Jones was signed as insurance for Pierre Thomas, should he not be able to go. Not a reflection on Ivory, Betts.
colts were a bit more forthright last year with agonz. iirc they said 2-8 weeks initially. i read that as a bad sign and cut him, tho i coulda been wrong and there wasnt much risk as he was not my rb1.anyway, i would guess pt is back after the bye.better not be some Anthony Gonzalez crap from last year where they say every week he might be back when in reality they were never going to.
Good point. I've been offered Pierre for Lynch and I'm rather concerned no official word has ever come out about his injury. Or have they officially said something and I've just missed it?better not be some Anthony Gonzalez crap from last year where they say every week he might be back when in reality they were never going to.
I should have said "officially" out for week 6, per the team.Thomas & Bush out for week 6
The most that has been said that it was an ankle injury. Payton said it wasn't a high ankle sprain. There was a weird week where some sources were reporting a new injury to his knee, but nothing seemed to come of that. The Saints don't have a bye until week 10 so they aren't trying to buy time until then. Have to hope the Saints are playing it really careful and letting him heal all the way.Good point.
