PIT RB Values (1 Viewer)

redman has something going on with his groin but i don't think it's all that serious... he's practicing today and will have MRI tomorrow according to recent reports.

i think if dwyer continues to work hard, he could be very productive with todd haley's offense if given the chance. he seems to be next on the depth chart behind redman and showed up to camp in great shape from what reports were saying. he showed his ability last season and also in the first preseason game with a nice run. if he can continue that i think he earns himself some meaningful playing time, not to mention if redmans injury is more than it seems he's in line for lead back duties imo.

With Redman's groin problem, looking like it's gonna be Dwyer Batch, and Rainey to start the season. All of a sudden, they are looking thin.Think they will make a move to bring any others aboard?
http://espn.go.com/blog/afcnorth/post/_/id/52670/steelers-redman-scheduled-for-mri-on-thursdayLATROBE, Pa. -- Running back used to be one of the Steelers' deepest positions. Now, it's become one of their chief concerns. The latest injury question mark at running back is Isaac Redman, who said he will get an MRI on Thursday morning. He has been limited by a groin injury that has become worse since the start of training camp. "It hurts a little," Redman said. "It's tough to run right now." Redman's situation has left the Steelers extremely short-handed at running back, where three players have gone down with injuries. Rashard Mendenhall, the Steelers' starter, is expected to start the season on the Physically Unable to Perform (PUP) list after ACL surgery in January. Reserve back John Clay suffered a season-ending thigh injury. And Jonathan Dwyer, Redman's backup, is dealing with a sprained shoulder. The only healthy running backs are rookie Chris Rainey and Baron Batch. Redman doesn't think the groin injury will linger into the regular season. "I heal pretty fast," he said. Apparently no one told offensive coordinator Todd Haley the latest development with Redman. "I don't know anything about that. I heard he was practicing today," said Haley, who spoke to reporters about an hour after Redman. "He was a little nicked up but we've been a little short at that position. So, coach is overall trying to be real smart especially the spots where we're a little short." When asked again about Redman's injury, Haley said, "You guys have more information than I do right now. We're not trying to put too much on him because he is a little bit nicked up. But the way I understood it, we're going to stay on course with the plan to get him some carries in this game." The Steelers play the Colts in their second preseason game Sunday.

It's Dwyer time guys. The window is opening. Once he gets that job he ain't letting it go. Even when Mendy returns.

I still think Baron Batch has a chance to see significant action at RB this year.

The stats in the last game didn't show how hard he ran. On at least half his carries he had one or more Eagles in the backfield with him right after getting the ball. On the plays where he did have a little room, he made the most of it.

I hope he gets some time with the starters against the Colts.

‏@EdBouchette: #steelers RB Redman tried to practice. But fell painfully on all fours as trainers attended. Hasnt returned.

I know right? So many RB needy teams in that draft that repeatedly passed on him in the later rounds.
He was flabby as hell at the combine IIRC and each offseason really struggles with his weight. I think I read that this year he got himself into good shape prior to training camp though, so who knows? Tons of natural ability, that's for sure.

i remember watching him a lot during college. he was amazing his sophomore year (many of the highlights in that video are from 2008). around his sophomore year, he was projected as a possible 1st round pick. but he kept putting on weight and was around 240 by his junior year. and he was less explosive. he posted about the same yard totals both years even though he had about 50 more carries his junior season. add to all this that he didn't exactly play halfback in college--he played fullback in an option offense--and had very little experience with pass protection (there's a couple other dwyer "highlight" videos that have some awkward attempts at pass blocking) and receiving, and teams soured on him. showing up chubby to the combine was almost the nail in the coffin.he's talented. no doubt about that. he's just got to stay in shape and hope for an opportunity.
