Remember those Steelers throwback jerseys that resemble bumble bee prison uniforms? Get ready to see 45 players suited up in them on Sunday, when the Steelers play host to the Redskins.

Yes, it's time to play like it's 1934. That's the year when a team named the Pittsburgh Pirates at the time went 2-10 and played at Forbes Field. This uniform has not been worn since that season. When you first set eyes on them, you'll understand why they were retired ... or burned.

This year's Steelers will not only break this out Sunday, but they'll wear these same uniforms on Nov. 18 when they face the Ravens. The jersey, which was originally worn during the 1934 season, has black and gold horizontal stripes with block numbers in a white box. The jersey will be worn with tan pants and black and gold striped socks and a black helmet. The uniforms were selected to honor the team’s history as a part of the 80th season celebration.

There’s a reason these jerseys were from 1934. It’s 2012 now though, so send them back!!!

Going with the fold it up and stick it your belt leather helmuts as well?

That would probably solve those silly leading with crown flags/fines everyone in TSP argues about every week.

I actually didn't mind their 1994 throwbacks.

But these are just ridiculous.
those are ok, kind of look like a soccer uni, whats with the castle? but the stuff they are wearing sunday is poop.
Not a castle, Fort PittHeard Ed Bouchette telling a story about a time he was in The Chief's office (obviously years and years ago) and there was a picture on the wall from 1934. Bouchette made a joke about the uniforms and got a glare from The Chief, who apparently liked them. Bouchette says he never made fun of those uniforms again--until now.

Something I found out while reading about the throwback jerseys: the current "Pittsburgh Steelers" franchise is actually the continuation of the original Philadelphia Eagles franchise! Art Rooney sold the original Pittsburgh franchise in 1940 and became part-owner of the Eagles. Three months later he made a deal with the new Pittsburgh owner to switch territories -- Rooney's "Eagles" moved to Pittsburgh and became the Steelers, and the original Steelers (then known as the "Iron Men") moved to Philadelphia and became the Eagles.

You would think that there would be a rule against having different numbers on the front and back. ;)

Sweet, can't wait to see that uniform combined with tons of pink bull####. Nice work, NFL.
:goodposting: Have to find some way to turn down the HD for this.
The league has much more pressing matters...
Chicago Bears wide receivers Earl Bennett and Brandon Marshall were fined $10,500 each for wearing “predominantly” orange cleats in the Monday night game against the Detroit Lions.
But PINK cleats would have been perfectly acceptable. I hope they both pay their fine with a bag full one million, fifty-thousand pennies.

Regarding all throwback uniforms - what is the point? It seems like a huge waste of money that can't possibly result in a financial bump in team revenues.

With most throwbacks, I assume they hope to sell them in the NFL.com shop. These are just a nod to the team's history.

I think in terms of throwbacks, the uglier the better. That's kinda the point to have an old school hideous uniform, so I think those are pretty damn awesome/ugly.

They took that first picture in the bathroom. That's where these unis need to stay. Just cut them up and put them on rolls.

Those are the ugliest things ever, wow!

They are not even football jerseys, those who like them need their eyes checked.

Eh, not all that bad IMO. Kind of rugby-ish. They look like I imagine a lot of uniforms did in 1934.

On the other hand, I'm certainly not going out to buy one either!

Those uniforms are such an eyesore I'm not even going to watch that game today. Had pegged it as one of the main ones I was going to watch.

Still waiting for them to form a scrum...
