Interesting.Any team who signs a veteran who makes the team roster for the first game is on the book for the salary of that player for the year and that is why I didn't think Plax would get signed until after that first game because if a team takes a shot at a guy like Plax after the first game and it doesn't work out they can cut him and only pay him for whatever games he was on the roster. If the Pats sign him now, and if he he makes the squad by the first game then they bought him for the year.It could be a chess move by Belichick.Mike Wallace, contrary to reports from the trainer down in Florida who not only said he thought that Wallace would sign soon that same trainer, if poeple paid attention, also said that Wallace told him that 'they' (meaning the Stellers) couldn't go much longer without signing him.If Plax is taken off the table then Belichick gets a former #1 WR who still might have something left in the tank while at the same time he can take away the Steelers security blanket if they planned to take a shot with Plax after the first game.Interesting.

I don't see how Plaxico is an upgrade over their fringe WR like Gaffney, Stallworth, and Branch.
That is debatable.Gaffney has never been a scorer, Plax is a proven weapon at the goal with the fade. He was one of the best and he probably still is.Stallworth is a hamstring waiting to happen.Branch couldn't cut the mustard in Seattle.Plax would come cheaper and probably brings more to the table.Gaffney is probably a lock since he played for Josh McDaniels in Denver and New England and he's the youngest of that group.

Plax had 8 TD's last year with a team that barely utilizes the forward pass. That is a very useful commodity assuming the goal is to still score more points than the opposition.

he has no special teams value, they already have a half dozen endzone options, and he's unproven in the mcd offense, where gaffney is proven.

they work guys out all the time -- why wouldn't they?

Im not a huge plax fan, but it gives the pats another downfield threat, which atm they only have lloyd. I wouldnt mind the depth at all, cut the dead weight.

Lloyd

Welker

Branch

Gaffney

Edelman

Slater

Burress

Looks great to me.

Funny how this happened right when the chad 85 news broke. Sounds like miami could sure use plax right about now...

I don't mind this move in so far as tapping potential talent, but I would really doubt that Bill would be so focused on any other team.
