For WRs & TEs: Receptions, Receiving Yards, Receiving TDsBest of Luck and ENJOY!

Hes the starter now but are we sure Rod Smith is too injured to continue. Im not so sure. And even if Smith IS out for a long period of time I just dont see Marshall putting up any solid #s considering Shanahan might hold back Cutler a little, Walker is a stud, 2 solid TEs to throw to, deep at RB.

32 rec, 450 yds, 3 tds

I thought he looked really good in limited action. I like his prospects as a 4th wr on fantasy teams

60rec 800yds 6tds

Marshall is a physical specimen and can outmuscle DB's.

He will still play second fiddle to Javon Walker, but I keep thinking back to his catch and run against Seattle to know his talent level.

As the team's second WR:

58 catches 600 yards and 7 TD's

Charges have been dropped against Brandon Marshall and he has received glowing reviews in early practices. He is positioned to make a big leap this year, especially if Smith remains slowed by injury and Cutler meets expectations. A potential 2nd year WR break out candidate.

Personally, I am not really high on the Bronco passing game for this year. I expect a little more running game and a little less passing, but I am apparently in the minority.

Brandon Marshall 80 targets 45 receptions for 630 yards and 5 TDs

Marshall averaged a decent 6.25 targets per game in the final four games of 2006. With Rod Smith likely to fade even further, and Cutler's second favorite target, Scheffler, dinged up; I look for Marshall to see at least that rate of targets per game in 2007. I look for him to have a solid season.

53 Recs

780 Yds

5 TDs

Rod was playing at 80% last year, and after his hip surgery is expected to be at 100%.Marshalls productions is tied directly to whether he is the #2 WR 100%. If he and Rod split duties he and Rod have no value for fantasy purposes this year. It's simply to early to tell at this point.

I agree that Marshall's production is impacted heavily by what Rod Smith does. I am working under the assumption that Smith is basically done... just an assumption though, but I feel it is a reasonable one at this point.

No Bloom sighting? No EEEEEEEEEEEEEE? What is the world coming to? I would re-interate Bloom's comments from a few weeks back in that we must keep an eye on Hixon this year.

I would look for Marshall to have 700 yds and 5 TDs.

:goodposting: I have the same numbers roughly. I figure if he does as well as he did last year when given the chance, then this is the FLOOR. Of course, he could improve. He could put up as much as 60/1000/6

There's a definate changing of the guard taking place in Denver as was signaled by the Cutler drafting/signing and eventual starting last season ... the new BIG DOG in the passing game is Walker and long time favorite Rod Smith is coming off a season which saw his targets drop from the high 120's into the 90's ... the ageless Smith is back for another season but I feel the writing is on the wall and the shift in roles is definately in the cards.

Marshall should share WR 2 duties with Smith this season possibly overtaking the role mid-season or possibly earlier

41R/74T/620/5TD

I like Marshall long term but don't think he will be much of a fantasy impact this year. He'll have a lot of competition for receptions between Walker, possibly Smith, possibly Stokely, Graham and Scheffler. I definitely liked what I saw of him late in the year last year though.

I'd guess something around 45/600/3. If Smith retires/is out I'd bump him up a bit to maybe 55 catch's.

Can someone fill me in on the whole EEEEEEEEEEE reference? I read this message board everyday but I must have missed when this started.

Chaos Commish started beating the drum about this guy last January. The Hula Bowl performance really cinched it, he truly looked like a man among boys. CC felt like he was the best WR in the draft, I was very close to that, I certainly felt he was the most likely to be a #1 WR of the whole 06 class, but CC deserves a ton of props here for being even more certain than I was. Fast forward to the draft, and we go the first day without Marshall's name being called. Im sitting in Radio City at the draft when his name finally gets called in the 4th by the Broncos. The excitement overtook me and I let out something like the shriek the crowd of schoolgirls made for the Beatles and Stones back in the day. Then a few minutes later when I saw Schefter I ran up to him rabidly talking about how the Broncos just got the steal of the draft and how is he is the next TO... Schefter calms me down and asks me to slow down and tell him again about this steal of the draft. What I can say, I'm an excitable boy (RIP Zevon)

:goodposting: Thanks for sharing that story. I remember all the talk about him here but I hadn't heard this story. I was able to draft him in one of my dynasty leagues but missed out on him in another because I waited too late and another owner got him before me. I thought that he was under the radar in that league but unfortunately I paid the price for letting him slide.

I believe that the WR situation in Denver will be similar to the WR situation in Arizona (Fitz and Boldin) - two top of the line WR's competing for catches - plus Denver will have their TE's more involved than AZ (Scheffler, Graham, Alexander).

So while Rod is still on the team I think Marshall's share of the pie for this season will be conservative.

43 catches

525 yds

6 TD's

But watch out after Smith retires! He's going to be gold even with Walker on the roster. :goodposting:

I too drank into the Marshall kool aid and picked him up in the 2nd of last years rookie draft. He has been asked for in a number of trade offers this offseason.

With that said, I believe he is a year away from a huge fantasy impact. Cutler is still learning, Walker is the go to guy, Marshall will share time with Smith at #2, and Sheffler & Hixon will take some passes away. Not to mention Henry will help the running game be more effective equaling less pass attempts needed.

40 550 4

Injuries seem to be a bit of a concern for him and may be the factor that holds him back the most. Marshall's numbers this year will simply come down to opportunity. If he can hold off the competition, stay healthy, and Smith doesn't stay healthy or produce Marshall will fully take advantage. He just needs the opportunity to get on the field.

Here is an interesting read about Smith's recovery.

Cutler to Marshall Youtube (CIN@DEN catch)

Just want to illustrate a bit why I am so :lmao: about Marshall...

1) dots the I like he's not even thinking about it. He does it instinctively, and at something like 60-80% of full speed. He didnt stutter step or gather very much at all before setting up the toe drag, and he doesnt look down at the sideline, which clearly would have fouled the play. This shows me top notch body control, technique on the toe drag, and field awareness

2) he basically pulls in the ball with one hand, and this is a Cutler fastball. he's able to secure the ball when he hits the ground. Ive always been incredibly impressed with Marshall's hands and the way he "plucks" the ball with smooth fluid movements of his arms and soft hands.

3) lets remember as a 6'4" 230 WR his strengths are more his size and RAC ability - this body control, hands, technique stuff is just gravy

yes, its just one play. If we posted a youtube of the best play from each WR last year, a lot of guys who are trash would look outstanding. So, Im not saying that this "proves" anything, but I love this play as an illustration of why Marshall is more than just a raw prospect, he's got some of the real bread and butter stuff that a WR needs to excel in the NFL.

EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

Cutler has a great arm.... I checked out a couple of Cutler-to-Walker TDs as well, and in one Cutler fakes the handoff, rolls out with no blockers, and throws a laser beam strike to Walker in stride 64 yards down the field, with a rusher closing in on him. He was able to follow through only half way, else he would have gotten smashed.

That bodes well for the Denver passing game.

I can't watch it, but there is another play where Marshall takes a little 5 yard out pattern into a 70 yard TD against the Seahawks. Breaks several tackles and then outruns the defense.I don't question is talent, I'm just getting concerned about him being constantly injured.

I am very high on Marshall due to the strong finish he showed last year when he got the chance after Smith's injury, the fact that Smith is still not even running, the ability that Cutler displayed to be a top notch QB, and his natural physical ability which is freakish.

First, those who are waiting for Rod Smith's resurection might want to read this: http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/news?slug=ap-b...p&type=lgns

Smith is 37, his HIP (important for a WR?) was messed up badly, and he still isn't even running.

Those worried about Marshall's health can read this: http://www.denverbroncos.com/page.php?id=3...mp;storyID=6919

Marshall is healthy and is practicing with the first team.

As for "competition" for looks, do you really see a 37 year old WR with a bum hip, an oft injured Stokeley who is a slot WR and at 31 and coming off surgey is not exactly in his prime, and Kirkus as heavy competition?

At a MINIMUM, prorating his production over the last five games when he got a chance to play, he will produce:

45 receptions/700 yards (15.5 ypc)/6 TDs

Ceiling (based on final three game performance):

60/930/8TDs

My projection will be between the floor and ceiling:

52/815/7TD

:sigh:Im getting a little worried.
According to Marshall himself, he's spent more time injured in the NFL than he has at all other levels of football combined. Granted, part of that is because the NFL is a lot more punishing than Pop Warner, but it does give some reason for optimism that his injuries so far are more bad luck than a sign of things to come.I can't believe that his catch-and-run against Seattle isn't up on Youtube, though. That was sick.

A shining example of Marshall as Boldinesque RAC threat - tough to bring down, deceptively fast, and a playmaker's mentality with the ball in his hands

Everyone seems to be forgetting about Hixon. This guy can play.

My goodness,... that's Marvin Harrisonish. BMarsh is on my ww and I'm picking him at 1.05 FA draft. (my 1st pick). I've got some of that EEEEEEEEEEEEEE in me too.

in dynasty leagues i'm in you HAVE to be a year too early or you'll never get the guy hehe

wow, missed on this one. Glad I targetted him and got him in my dynasty but I'm curious where he goes next year. Since he'll be a 3rd year wr coming off a 100 1300 - 7 I'd guess in the Lee Evans territory, maybe 10th or so? Unfortunately I think he'll be too expensive in most redrafts for me.What a phenomenal year and thanks to Bloom and all the guys that raised my awareness to this guy in the offseason. He'll be a gem on my squad for years to come.
