And lets disregard that Eli beat the best team in history in the Superbowl.
That's a good idea, since it didn't happen
:goodposting: The Giants beat the Patriots. Eli was along for the ride, same as Dilfer was.
This is either a biased statement, or one made by someone who did not follow last year's postseason. Eli was the MVP for the Giant's playoff run, without question. While the defensive line as a unit may have been the best part of the team, no one player was more responsible for that Super Bowl than Eli. To say he was along for the ride like Dilfer is fairly laughable and utterly incorrect.that said, three big questions remain for eli in this context:

(1) How much of the postseason was an aberration in that he simply got hot at the right time?

(2) How much of Eli's inconsistency will surface during the regular season, in that perhaps he truly raises his game in clutch situations... but that doesnt translate into regular season consistency

(3) Regardless how Eli progresses (or not), I dont see him as a stellar fantasy option regardless. Its a team that plays in a very tough home field for passing come crunch time in fantasy - weeks 10-16.
Dilfer averaged over 8 yards per pass in the post-season. He found Sharpe for a big play in every game. Was he really along for the ride? Manning played a bigger role than Dilfer, but Dilfer certainly wasn't just there.
The Ravens only gave up 23 points (3-10-3-7) during their run. Dilfer was 35 of 73 (48% completion percentage) for 590 yards, 3 TD, 1 INT and a QB Rating of 83.7.The Giants, on the other hand, gave up 65 points (14-17-20-14). Eli was 72 of 119 (61%) for 857 yards with 6 TD, 1 INT and a QBR of 95.8.

I don't think their situations are the same. Carson Palmer was in his first season as a starter, struggled early, and got better before getting hurt. However you could see from early on that he was a good quarterback. Eli Manning has been a mediocre quarterback his entire career with the exception of the 2007 playoffs.I suppose it's possible that after 3 1/2 seasons as a starting quarterback that Eli Manning will finally fix his flaws(low accuracy, too many interceptions) but I still have my doubts. Playoffs or no playoffs I don't think 4-5 games should make up people forget about the other 50+ games of his career.
Exactly. Pass. I see no real upside or reason to believe he'll ever be much more than what he's been so far. This "player X did blah in the last X games" is weak logic as it doesn't necessarily follow through the next year.
