Player Spotlight: Lamont Jordan (1 Viewer)

I was very high on Jordan in this thread:

The most common knock on Jordan's outlook is the awful Oakland defense. That is irrelevant. How good were the KC and Indy defenses when Priest Holmes and Edgerrin James had outstanding seasons? No one would say that Jordan is a Holmes or James-calibur back. But the "bad defense" knock is not a huge factor here. We know that Norv Turner wants a durable RB to feed the rock to. And he will certainly trust Jordan as his mailcarrier.
Of course, I thought Santana Moss would be a bust this year :D

This had to be bumped.. I am dying reading some of the posts in it.. Friday got to love your reasoning..

Right now we are 2 games from half way and he's hit or is near everybody's TD predictions.. Including mine where I said 8-10TD's.. He could hit 15 combined...

He did and was NEEDED.. I liked having him but he wasn't the complete back.. He was good between teh 20's.. That allowed the Raiders to use a commitee method of moving the ball.. If you look at Jordan.. He has everything it takes to be an all around back. Your going to be surprised this year if you honestly think the plan last year will be the same this year. Baring injury. Jordan is a LOCK for 1200 and between 8-10TD's rushing. He still has a higher upside IF the Raiders stay close in games. I am surprised there are so many non believers out there.
He has exceeded everyone's recieving and TD production and that is why is he is doing so well.He is on pace for most people's projections for rushing though or even worse.

Right now he is on pace for...

1150 rushing yards

650 receiving

22 TDs

When I talked about Jordan, I mainly focussed on his rushing, because I thought that was where he would live and die. Jordan and Oakland's rushing is not doing great at all...Jordan is 18th best rusher and the Raiders have the 25th best rushing attack.

Jordan's sucess right now is lying in his high TDs and exorbitant amount of catches. Those are definately taking me by surprise.

That is exactly my point....under most circumstances, the terrible defense would reflect on a RB's success, because for the most part it lies in the rushing game.Lamont has not had success running the ball, his success lies in the receiving game and getting many TDs. I don't think many people thought Jordan would be on pace for 80 catches for the season and 22 TDs.

Careful Friday you don't want to pull a quad muscle during that back pedal.

Humm, what other RB does that sound like.... LT maybe.

He's been a nice surprise to me.He's holding up well, also. I thought durability was at least a question mark.

Uh Oh...someone didn't agree with your assessment of Jordan at the beginning of the season. Are you ever gonna forgive me?

Forgive you? Are you kidding me? For all the entertainment you have given me this season I should put a photograph of you on an altar in my home with candles and incense burning while I sacrifice copious amounts of twinkies and ho-ho's in your honor. ;)

You know those rushing totals go up every week now.. Before last game it was below 1000.. Now we pushing 1200.. I'll take 1200 rushing and 650 receiving.. A RB to get close to 2000 combined yards is gold.. THe TD's well I was happy with 8-10.. Now less then 12 will be a disappointment.. That's top 5 numbers.. look at Westbrook last year.. 800 yards rushing 700 receiving and 9td's. Yet I don't hear the same knock on him like Jordan.. Yet Jordan will be better..

Well some said wait till the end of the year but here we are in the qrt of the football year and Lamont still on pace for 1200 yards rushing and 650 receiving. The remaining schedule..

Chargers currently 1st (Last meeting 36 rushing and 58 receiving 2TD)

Jets currently 30th

Browns currently 28th

Broncos currently 2nd (Last meeting 48 rushing 60 receiving)

Giants currently 6th

Even when he faces tough run D's he still gets his points and total yards.. He is on pace for 86 receptions.. Amazing how I under-rated his receiving.. I thought 48-64 was safe and he's blown that out in 12 weeks.

Interesting stats about Jordan's season:Home games - 118 rushes for 491 yards (4.16 YPC), 9 TD'sRoad games - 115 rushes for 356 yards (3.10 YPC), 0 TD's
