Player Spotlight: Maurice Jones-Drew (1 Viewer)

Not that he's playing lights out or anything, but in PPR leagues Jones-Drew is actually ahead of his '07 total point pace.

'08: 63.3 total pts (10, 14.6, 30.4, 8.3)

'07: 50.2 total pts (10.4, 7.3, 10.5, 22)

I'm a big MJD believer in '08. Whether it's by injury or personnel adjustment, I just think this is his year to really break out. :fingerscrossed:

As if anyone needed another reason not to play him this week. Taylor needs 72 yds. for 11k.

What the heck? Are you honestly suggesting that MJD might get less playtime because Taylor is 72 yards away from 11k?First off, 11k is the most asinine milestone. What sort of significance does 11k carry? None whatsoever. You might as well say that Taylor's only 183 yards away from 11,111 yards rushing for his career, so obviously the Jaguars are going to ride him until the wheels fall off to get him to that very important non-milestone!

Second off, even if 11k was the most significant milestone in NFL history, even if that was the career record for rushing yards and a plateau once described as utterly unassailable... what motivation does Jacksonville have to ensure that he gets there THIS WEEK? As far as I know, Taylor isn't retiring next Tuesday. He'd have all of the rest of the season to continue his assault on that 11k mountain. Not only is there absolutely nothing significant about the "milestone", there's also absolutely nothing significant about the timeframe, unless you think someone is going to suggest that Fred Taylor is a Hall of Famer because he's just the sixth back in NFL history to rush for 11,000 yards in his first 132 games or some such nonsense.

When a guy, like Taylor, averages over 1,000 yards per 16 games, then he's going to hit at least one such non-milestone a year. This year he might top 11k career yards. Next year, he might top 12k. The year after that, who knows, he might even top 13k career yards. A team would have to be absolutely DEMENTED to alter their gameplan to try and let Taylor finish with a completely arbitrary total at a completely arbitrary time with no significance attached whatsoever.

I think your very first sentence summed it up nicely on its own.
