Player Spotlight: Steve Slaton (1 Viewer)

What theory is that?
As the numbers clearly illustrate, Kubiak's penchant was for RBBC when he had the available personnel last season, so it is clear that this season Green's vacated role will be shared with some yet to be determined distribution between the upgraded arsenal of RB's now available in Brown, Moats, Foster and Johnson.

Look, your overall projections were pretty good. It just happens to be that it was for a different reason. So, kudos to you, I guess.

Thanks, but it was a committee due to what Kubiak chose to do, so the reasoning was correct. As for the Week 17 Foster production discussion, "available personnel" was included in the bolded for a reason and Slaton was obviously not available.Should be interesting to see what Houston does in 2010 with regards to the RB position.

Um, no. Absolutely not. Unless you can produce a post where you said there would be a RBBC because of him being benched for fumbling then you are not even close. If you want to hang your hat for being correct on the distribution based on a totally different reason, then, by all means thump your chest. The rest of us will just shake our heads and wonder what the hell is wrong with you, but I'm guessing that's nothing new for you... On either count...

Still with the personal attacks? Pity, you had a chance to be gracious in defeat after antogoizing me all pre-season in this thread. My words:
Full scale RBBC
...then yours....
Words and action. The coaching staff may downplay Slaton but they didn't bring anyone in to compliment him. He's all they have and he is all they will have this year. Outside of injury this guy is a lock for 1K rushing and 300 receiving. And that's a floor, not the ceiling.
...but it didn't take too long for you to change your tune in another thread....
Yesterday only made this mess worse. Lemme sum up:1) Moats named the starter and gets most of the carries but Slaton was the first RB to touch the ball in the game2) Moats who had 7 career catches going into this season catches three balls including a TD. Of course it hit him in the hands and he bobbled it.3) Slaton who is a pass catching machine and mediocre at the goal line only catches two balls but punches one in from the 1.4) Moats gets 16 carries but only averages about 2.4 YPC5) Slaton gets 6 carries and is also under 3.0 YPC6) Moats got the job because Slaton couldn't hold onto the ball and then promptly fumbles the ball in the redzone in a game they lose to the Colts by 3. 7) And to really muddy the waters, on the game's final drive Moats doesn't see the field. I thought Slaton couldn't be trusted with the ball in key situations and thus the benching? This is an F'n mess...
Well, I'll give you credit for one thing, at least you admitted the truth eventually.

Wow. After seeing that pic of his fused neck vertebrae and reading about other people's experiences I am definitely not planning to acquire Slaton. I hope the guy does ok but really he should consider retirement.

Definitely worth a bump with all the Foster hype

This thread went 5 pages, has to be one of the longest threads for a spotlight that I can recall.

Its been my experience Slaton plays his best when given less touches and is forced to be hungry. My guess would be a good if not great season in PPR format

hmm. what do you see him producing this year? I think he is going somewhere in the neighborhood of 12th or later. Could represent decent value if he is not completely pushed out by Foster.

Hey I like slaton (helped me win a FF title 2 years ago) but he puts the ball on the ground a lot.

I fully agree he has talent and a lot of it. It also would not surprise me to see him improve his numbers if he remains healthy.

with all that being said, if he doesnt solve this fumbling problem I dont think it matters how good he is. If he fumbles the ball a few times early in the season any coach with a brain would yank him & bench him. You cant have guys putting the ball on the ground like he did last year.

as a fan, I hope he solves the problem, but I do have my concerns about the guy.

It seems the fumbling problem had a lot to do with the fact that he couldn't feel his hands because of the neck injury. Supposedly that is resolved this year. I own him in a league. Can't give him away. Sitting him on the bench till I see what he does. It's a PPR league so he may have some value going forward...
