Lousy Attention Whore
Not to get down on the Raiders at all, but Tomlinson really seems to get excited about playing them. Look at his game stats against Oakland since 2002:

2002, week 7 - 181 total yds. 2 TDs

2002, week 14 - 79 yds. 1 TD

2003, week 4 - 211 yds. 1 TD

2003, week 17 - 260 yds. 2 TDs

2004, week 8 - 78 yds. 1 TD

2004, week 11 - 173 yds. 1 TD

2005, week 6 - 179 yds. , 2 TDs

2005, week 13 - 110 yds.

2006, week 1 - 149 yds. 1 TD

2006, week 12 - 114 yds. 2 TDs

2007, week 6 - 214 yds. 4 TDs

Over his total career he has averaged 127 yards rushing and has 18 TDs in 13 games against them.

I know this isn't earth-shattering news because Tomlinson puts up pretty good numbers against everyone, but he seems to bring something extra against the Raiders (and that is to their credit). Who else can you think of that just seemed to "go off" against a particular opponent?

Randy Moss vs The Boys (we heard ad nauseum at the buildup to the big game yesterday about his grudge for Dallas not selecting him in the draft)

Good one. Let's see what we have:1998, week 13 - 163 yds. 3 TDs1999, week 9 - 91 yds. 2 TDs2000, week 13 - 144 yd. 2 TDs2004, week 1 - 27 yds. 2 TDs2005, week 4 - 123 yds.2007, week 7 - 59 yds. 1 TDLots of yards, lots of TDs. I don't get why he gets upset at Dallas though. A lot of teams snubbed him in that same draft.

With regard to LT vs the Raiders. I believe the AFC west rivalaries are among the best in the game. Always a lot of passion. Marty Schottenheimer used to really get his teams (Chiefs/Bolts) pumped for "Raider Week". On a personal level though I can see where LT has a special place in his heart for destroying the Raiders. That stinker (relatively) in 2005 was when if you will recall was because one of the raider players "knuckled" him in the ribs when he in the pile, taking him out of the game and causing LT to miss a few weeks. That kind of thing really has to give you an extra boost of spite on top of the already intense rivalry.

If I recall correctly, Dallas had told him that they were going to take him, and then they snubbed him. At least the other teams never showed any interest in him in the first place.

Willis McGahee vs. the Jets.....

That guy always runs silly over us from when he was in Buffalo, and even now with Bal. he had a good game IIRC. But then again the Jets run D isn't anything to get excited about.

His first game against them kinda stunk, but after that...2004, week 9 - 143 total yds. 1 TD2005, week 6 - 167 yds. 1 TD2005, week 17 - 135 yds.2006, week 3 - 153 yds.2006, week 14 - 145 yds. 1 TD2007, week 2 - 103 yds. 1 TDA lot of yards... not a staggering amount of TDs though. Clearly he made a difference in all those games.

Joey Galloway usually gets loose against the Saints.

Housh has been huge the last several times against the Ravens minus one.

Palmer typically also has a big outing vs Baltimore.

I forgot where i read this... but earlier in the year when Cincy was playing in Baltimore a FF columnist dubbed TJ "Raven Killer". I think he's average closed to 100 yards and 1 TD per game against them in the last 3 years or something.

Donald Driver had a very nice string of games against the Vikings although that somewhat ended this year.

Larry Johnson has also had a few monster games versus the Raiders and Frank Gore against the Seahawks last season although since those guys are studs I'm not sure they count.

LT's career coincides almost completely with the Raiders being a terrible team. And really, until this week's game, he had never exceeded 2 TDs and had 14 TDs in 12 games. Prior to last week, LT had 114 TDs in 100 games. So you would actually expect him to score 14 TDs in 12 games, and against a bad team, probably even more. I'm not trying to ruin your fun, and in fact the rushing yards DO stand out; I'm just looking at the TD numbers.

I notice a theme developing here:LT and LJ both have had monster games against the Raiders. Hmm....

Rod Smith vs. Kansas City....

Smith went to D2 Missouri Southern, which is 2 hours south of the KC Metro....he doesn't get drafted in 1994, and the Chiefs don't call him as an UDFA.....apparently Rod thought they said they would take him, or something to that effect.

Once he became a starter, he was so lights out against KC here in Arrowhead, and also in Mile High.

Some numbers...

1998

2003 was his last 100 yard day against KC....we held him out of the endzone a lot, but the yardage is unreal.

i read someplace (can't find the link right now) that when LT was asked about this, he laughed it off as marty really hating the raiders and said their approach would be different this year. FWIW.

It was different all right - second highest yardage production and twice as many TDs as he has ever scored against them. I have a feeling Norv isn't a big fan of the Raiders right now.
