Playoff Contest is LIVE (1 Viewer)

Went SD vs NO for SB but then figured that'd be pretty popular so am going contrary with Balt instead.  They're a more fun team to root for anyhow.

Certainly there's luck. But as is the case with FalnDuel and Draftkings, I bet the guys that usually win spend a lot of time with their analysis.
Yes,I have spent considerable time with my analyst since this contest started.

If (And my strategy is bold both on teams for SB and the outliers players to help get there) things go to plan:

Round 1 - 9 players counting

Round 2 - 12 players counting

Round 3 - 7 players counting

SB - 16 players counting

25 total players rostered ($250)

Am I missing how many of each position count towards scoring?  Or do all players score up to 2 per team meaning you could count numerous QB scores?

this is how i read it and believe it's correct except for the SB. for SB no 2 per team limit and all players count. salaries are such though that u'll have a hard time picking too many qb's.

I totally reconfigured my roster based on this thread.  Hope it works...hahaha

The one thing that I didn't realize actually has value is grabbing the really low dollar guys on the teams I think are going to the Super Bowl over getting one or two higher priced guys that are better only to diversify.  That diversification is what enables you to advance, but will likely not get you the title.

i apprecaite the contest and offering it to us.... but i never do this because i find it impossible to pick a roster...  its too hard for my dumb brain to figure out how to stack and balance teams properly... ... good luck though to everyone

I usually try to load up a bit more on a team that I think has an underdog chance of making the SB, as they are a bit cheaper and hope that less people will be as heavy on that team if my team is able to advance to SB week.  But hard to convince myself to see anyone besides KC and LAR/NO in the SB.  Maybe I'll load up on LAC instead of KC, but not really feeling it.

Heads up everyone!  The Calcomatic will not be active today.  The roster lock happens ~5 minutes before the first game of the weekend and I won't be available at that time (yes, I have a life outside of FF :-) ).

Sorry!  Calcomatic should be available on Sunday through the Super Bowl!

Is it possible to win if you only get one super bowl team right?

I assume it is if there's a blowout. But otherwise?
Highly doubt it.

This is crazy hard. I’m 50 over and still don’t think I have enough to make it the first two rounds. I’m trying to pick Super Bowl backwards.

Interesting, 3 kickers and no defenses

This was rough to make, hard to balance going wide to get to the superbowl, but going deep enough with the teams that you will think will make the super bowl to win. You almost need to commit to two teams, and if one of them loses you are out.

Could work if it's Baltimore and Chicago
I just can’t see spending $10+ on an extra defense. Would rather roll the dice.

Good chance your defenses and kickers won’t count then in the first couple of rounds (unless your position players #### the bed, and then you’re screwed anyway) but then you have those points in the SB.

I think you have to, there’s no other way to do it. At least, I couldn’t come up with another way. Even with two teams I’m still really thin.

First time doing this, and the rules make it crazy hard.  The winner will have correctly picked the 2 SB teams and loaded up on them.  If you haven't spent at least $150 on 2 teams, you have no shot at the top prize.

What's so difficult is that it is impossible to load up on the key players from the 2 no. 1 seeds and still have any money leftover in order to survive the first 2 rounds. The pricing is brutal for those two teams.  If you go with a New Orleans / Kansas City SB you need to pick which studs you leave out. And then hope your select studs outscored everyone else's selected studs. Almost forces you to pick a wildcard weekend team to make it to the Super Bowl and hope it happens

I give up. Took the teams I would bet on making it, then added players to make it. If I get really lucky maybe, but it seems really unlikely.

I spent $177

I went $186 for 2 teams, along with 2 players for $18, 2 players for $16, another 2 players for $16, and 2 players for $13.  I only rostered players from 6 of the 12 teams.
I rostered 9 teams. Have a few teams with just one cheapy to get over the hump first two weeks.

Where does every one see the cutoff for week 1? Does anybody know where it was last year?

Looks like last years week 1 cutoff was 84. 91 the year before that. 66 before that.

I may have to add a few more players for this week.

took 2 teams I actually don't fancy to win the Super Bowl.

After giving up on the 2 teams that I think will.

Still might change back.

Went with a Saints and Chiefs Super Bowl. It was tough to do as there are so many studs left off my roster (Mahonnes, Ingram, Hill) that it might kill me. Still have Brees, Kamara, Thomas and Hill from the Saints and Dameon Williams, Ware, Conley, Robinson and Kelce from the Chiefs. Still think I'm cutting it a bit thin to survive weeks 1 & 2 but we'll see what happens. Gonna need a few big weeks from the ragtag WRs.

It's tough every year, but I feel like this bracket is particularly difficult.

Prices were so high on the top teams that I decided to fill up on 1 Super Bowl team instead of 2. Probably won't be enough to put me over the top against the owners who have also invested in the NFC Super Bowl team, but it should at least give me a shot if KC makes the Super Bowl (and I do too).

Here's my actual entry.

When I did it the first time I did Rams/Patriots (with not enough players going this weekend)

Then I switched to a Chargers/Rams entry (but I didn't love depending on Foles vs Chicago and Rivers vs Baltimore on that first weekend).

At the last minute I tried to go back and put together a better NE/Rams entry but ran out of time.

I ended up with this:

NO vs BAL  (which is not what I think will happen - but if you saw my predictions thread that's just as well)  I'll have 13 in the Super Bowl if I make it.  It was going to be 14 but I swapped out Crabtree/Allen for John Brown:

QB - Drew Brees - 38
QB - Lamar Jackson - 22
QB - Andrew Luck - 21
QB - Russell Wilson - 14
QB - Taysom Hill - 4
RB - Kenneth Dixon - 11
RB - Gus Edwards - 9
RB - Darren Sproles - 8
RB - Rex Burkhead - 7
RB - Zach Line - 3
WR - Michael Thomas - 28
WR - Josh Reynolds - 10
WR - Sammy Watkins - 10
WR - Anthony Miller - 9
WR - John Brown - 9
WR - Chester Rogers - 3
WR - DeAndre Carter - 3
TE - Mark Andrews - 8
TE - Hayden Hurst - 3
PK - Justin Tucker - 9
TD - New Orleans Saints - 12
TD - Baltimore Ravens - 9

Will post my "non-entries" next for posterity :)

Good luck all!

Non-entry 1.  First honest effort that I submitted today.  It was a Rams/Chargers entry and would have had 11 players in the Super Bowl.

QB - Goff, Luck, Rivers, Foles

RB - Gurley, Ekeler, Burkhead

WR - Cooks, K Allen, Lockett, M Williams, Reynolds, Watkins, Ginn, C Rogers, Hurns

TE - Everett, Gates, Hurst

PK - Badgley

Dang I really like this entry as I type it.  Hope I didn't blow it.

Non-entry 2.  This was my Rams/Patriots do-over.  Always dangers to take two bye-week teams but the Patriots prices are crazy low.  I would have had 14 in the Super Bowl with this lineup.  Ran out of time or I very well may have gone with this.  These are the teams I actually do think will make the Super Bowl.

QB - Goff, Brady, Luck, Wilson, Foles

RB - Gurley, Michel, Edwards, Sproles, Burkhead, Develin

WR - Reynolds, T Williams, Hogan, Patterson, Dorsett, Carter, Rogers, Hurns

TE - Gronk, Everett, Higbee, Hurst

DEF - Patriots

It's particularly amazing how wildly different my position balance was in terms of RB/WR/TE between my 3 possible entries.

Again hope this isn't a post of regret.

Good luck all :)
