Playoff Draft - Top 3 Picks (1 Viewer)

For those of you participating in playoff fantasy leagues, I think the general consensus is that the quarterback trio of Tom Brady, Peyton Manning and Aaron Rodgers should probably be the top 3 picks in playoff fantasy drafts (serpentine format). In a non-PPR league that utilizes standard scoring of 4 points per TD pass and 1 point for every 25 yards passing, how would you rank the top 3 picks? I actually have the #2 pick, so one of those guys will surely be gone, but I wanted to gauge public opinion on which player you like best?

Thanks and best of luck in the playoffs!

I agree with these 3 QB's. I wouldn't be surprised to see Foster sneak in there at #3 though. I also have the #2 pick and but otherwise I'd be targeting Brady, Rodgers, and Manning in that order. Rodgers is just as good as Manning and has the upside of playing 4 games vs 3 for Manning. With Denver potentially getting stopped in their tracks by a strong Patriots team, I will roll the dice on the Packers path to the SB over Denver. I'll pass on Manning. For me it's Brady or Rodgers. Good luck

I'd take Marshawn over Rodgers, actually. I like his odds of making a deep push better, since Washington/Atlanta is an easier path than Minnesota/San Fran. The only way Marshawn could wind up facing San Fran (my pick for best team and toughest defense in the NFC) is if Green Bay lost in the first round, so even in that case he'd still probably be a better pick.

Brady/Manning is all about who you think is more likely to win the AFCCG. Vegas has them both at 11:10 (basically 50/50, with about a 5% chance someone else winds up representing the AFC). Personally, as a Denver homer, I'd take Manning, but go with your gut.

The only way Foster is sneaking into the top 5 is if it a Houston Homer. A lot of people think Houston is going to get bounced in the first round, and add to the fact that Foster has been out produced by Lynch, Peterson, Morris at the running back position over the past 4 to 6 weeks and I could easily see Foster falling to an early second round pick.

Playoff formats vary, but generally speaking you want the QB's of the teams that will play the most games. I think those QB's are the winner of the Denver/New England game, Green Bay/San Fran game, and Seattle/Washington game. Obviously you want skill position players on those teams too, but in many playoff formats (unlike the regular season) it's about who scores the most points - not points per position.

Basically, before picking your team - know your format. There are lots of formats in which the RB in the winner of Seattle/Washington will make more sense than half of those QB's.

Id go Rodgers #1 simply because he could play an extra game (and doesn't have to play the Pats or Broncos), Brady in the #2 and Manning #3.

Hard pressed at the #4 between Matt Ryan and Foster, leaning Ryan as I think the Texans are getting bounced in the first round.

My team

Had the draft last night. PPR all play cumulative stats, full roster lineups.

Here's the first 5 picks:

Brady

Rodgers - me

Manning

Ryan

Foster

FWIW, after having a plan to go hard after a few teams core players (NE, DEN, GB); in reality in a serpentine draft you will see a lot of your targeted players go right under your nose. Good luck to those attempting the "all the eggs in one basket" plan. Easier said than done. And don't sleep on kickers. I did and I probably have very little chance of having one for the Super bowl. I will find myself rooting for the Packers and Patriots and rooting against Houston and Atlanta. Curious because I really liked Houston and Atlanta.

Amazing. No wilson or kaepernick in your first 3 rounds and they both went in the 1st in ours. Meanwhile, luck went in the 1st in yours and wasn't even drafted in ours. Goes to show you how much of a crapshoot these things are and how sill mocks are to look at.

This doesn't make much sense to me. You discount Manning because he may be stopped by the Patriots, but Denver is a better team (according to Vegas), so why don't you discount Brady even more since the Pats may be stopped by the Broncos?

It's like drafting all players that have a close to 50% chance of being knocked out for the season on the last play of each game. Oh, and some players have 4 possible games left on their schedule and others only 3.

Maybe cuz deep down in my gut with real money on the line, I don't believe Denver can beat the Pats at home. It's a subjective call. I'm not totally down on Denver. I drafted Moreno last night. But my hunch is the Pats will win the AFC Championship.

Luck in the first was a huge reach in ours IMO. We are in the 5th and Kaep and Wilson are still out there. 2 teams left that need QBs. I think each owner is waiting on the other to make the first move. They could stick around until the last round.

Those are the clear top 3 in any order (basically, who you think will have best chance for 3 games - I went Brady, Manning Rodgers). After that, I had Ridley, Foster, and Moreno.

The challenge to me is ranking Peterson. I could see an argument he could be taken in the first or as low as the 4th.

Similar to my rankings though I ranked the RB's Ridley, Rice, Moreno, ADP. The way the Texans are playing Foster could easily be 1 and done. Yes ADP should be 1 and done but it's against a team he torched twice this year. The team that really had me shuked is the 49ers. Good enough to go all the way but their 1st game could be against GB and they could easily be out after 1 game. I don't see that being the case with any of the other teams that have a bye.
