Please keep Chance in your thoughts and prayers (6 Viewers)

is there anything the collective power of the FFA can do to provide a little something here for Chance to lift his spirits some?

I dunno what, but it seems like we cast votes for people and do lots of crap like that, maybe there's something someone can think of to brighten chance's (and maybe bigbottom's) day a little bit? Any ideas anyone?

I've been debating whether or not to start a thread, but a couple good friends in the FFA suggested that it may be worthwhile.

Unfortunately, after beating back brain cancer twice in the last fifteen months, my son Chance's cancer has returned. And now, instead of one tumor in his brain, there are three, as well as two tumors in his spine. Additionally, there are a number of other spots where tumors appear to be developing. To go from completely clear scans in June to where we are now just three months later, the cancer is highly aggressive. And, unfortunately, one of the tumors is up against my son's brain stem, so he is starting to lose the ability to walk, and he is losing dexterity in his right hand.

Unfortunately, the doctors have told us that they've exhausted all available protocols. We were holding out hope that we might be able to get into some trial, but were advised yesterday that there are no spaces available in any trials for which he might be eligible. And given the nature of the tumor, any trial would be highly unlikely to cure him, even if he could get in one.

While we are still holding out hope that some treatment comes into focus, or that we are blessed with some form of miracle, our efforts have shifted to supporting Chance, loving him, and bringing him as much joy and comfort as we can.

I would very much appreciate it if you all could keep Chance in your thoughts and, if so inclined, your prayers. As for me, I am a broken, broken man. Please pray that I can find the peace and strength to be there for Chance, and for my family.

Thank you for posting this and giving us the chance to do something, even if it is only to offer our support and let you know that you and your family are in the thoughts and prayers of so many others. I hope we can help lighten your load, at least a tiny fraction.

 
So, so sorry, BB. You know that Chance's battle has been inspirational for me, and I'm so sad that things have taken this turn. please know that you and your family are in my thoughts.

 
I cannot even imagine what you're going through right now. Good luck, and may the road ahead be filled with as many blessings and as much joy as possible. And when you need to break down, if it helps, come back here for some support.

 
After what I've been through this week with my mother and thinking about my son, I'm barely holding it together at my desk right now.

I'm so sorry. Nobody deserves this especially not the good ones like you. Cherish the time you've had and still have and be strong because you are. I get that it doesn't feel like you will, but you'll make it.

That's horrible news, BB. I was just thinking the other day of Chance and the links you posted to videos of him. They were so heartwarming.

My heart breaks for you and your family. You, Chance and your family are in my thoughts and I truly hope somehow a spot opens up in a trial soon for Chance. I'm so sorry.

 
I am so sorry to hear about this for the first time. How old is your son? You all will be in my thoughts and prayers. Hang in there BB. They are gonna need you strong.

I have nothing other than my heart aches for you. I will absolutely keep Chance in my prayers. I hope you can find the strengh to support your family and also find a way to take care of yourself. Stay strong.

Thoughts and hopes from the ss family to you and yours. Maybe there's some karma that went into naming him what you did and maybe, hopfully he doesn't need a miracle, just a "Chance".

 
OMG BigBottom, how terrible. I had no idea. Nothing I can add to anyone else except to write that you are one of the most interesting posters I have encountered in this forum. Heartfelt wishes.

 
Like everybody else here, I wish there was something I could do. Do know that I love you though. You are the most decent person I've ever iMet in my life. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. :cry:

 
This makes all the other threads seem so insignificant. So sorry for what you are going through BB. Thoughts and prayers to you and your family.

To echo some earlier questions if there is anything we can do to make it easier for your family, please let us know. Maybe we can send some meals or provide something to help give Chance some happiness or make your family's life a little easier in some small way while your family concentrates on your family?

This is a great idea, Fennis. I'd gladly give some funds to this, and I'd bet a whole lot of other people around here would, too.

 
BB, I am so sorry to hear about this. If it's any consolation, it sounds like Chance has an incredible family supporting him. You guys will remain in my thoughts.

 
So incredibly sorry to read this. I can't even imagine. I'll be praying for a miracle, and barring that, for strength and some sort of peace for you and your family.

 
So sorry to hear this man, I remember when the video of Chance and Dicky V was first posted. Your family will be in my thoughts.

Only advice I can give is not to feel any pressure to "be strong". Just know that it's perfectly okay to be vulnerable and sad. Lean on your loved ones just as much as they lean on you, and together you will give each other the support you need.

 
You and your family will be in my thoughts. I can't even imagine your pain and the thoughts that must be going through your head.
