POCONOS - Help save me from my family (1 Viewer)

So, we ARE going to the poconos. My dad and step mom, two half brothers (one with two, one with one, kid, all 2 or under) and sister (newborn) along with their respective spouses will be boarded up for close to a week, or however long I can stay before I go completely MoP on everyone. My absolute champ of a wife will be with me. I feel bad, it's not even here family. There will be drinking on premises, and a good bit of it, but other than that....

A couple questions so the FFA may help me retain what little sanity I have left.

1. What "areas" or attractions should we be near? Looking like we are renting a 5 or 6 bedroom house.

2. To the house: 5 bedroom and 4 or 5 bathroom, ideally on lake / with pool (much prefer the former). Anyone know a good realtor for this, company, something? And where should we look to stay

3. What things should I look to do with the wife? ANY nightlife?

HELP ME JEEBUZ!!!

So unbelievably awful. Good freaking luck with that.

With that many small children around, I can't imagine you'll be able to do anything remotely fun. Too many strollers to drag around and diapers to change. I'd just shoot for something on a lake with places where you and the wife can get away from all your nieces and nephews.

thoughts and prayers.

Poconos are huge, so hard to pinpoint where to stay, but on or near the big lake (Lake Wallenpaupack) is nice. If you don't purposely drown yourself in there, it's good for boating, jet skiing, etc. You can also go to places for kayaking, river rafting, canoeing. We've used Indian Head for that, but Kittatinny is reputable as well.

As for nightlife, I think you're screwed unless you want to take a drive to a casino (may be far though). Otherwise you're looking at some redneck bars.

Sorry can't be of more help, but it's really a family-driven type of area.

So somebody else decided you are going, but it's up to you to arrange lodging and entertainment?

That's different.

I don't see the issue. If you don't have any kids you can spend time with the family and take some side trips with the wife. You get the best of both worlds. Seems like a great opportunity.

Do you not like your family?

It's my dad's every other year week trip with all the kids and their/our kids. We try to limit it to 5 days for the wife and I. We can suggest specific locations, activities and when needed just get the #### out and do what we want
