Pokemon Go (2 Viewers)

It needs Bluetooth driven player vs player. As is there's not much satisfaction of improving past a slowly increasing point.

Was reading on the subreddit for Atlanta and someone mentioned getting ready for Gen 2.  I didn't know what that meant so kept reading.  I guess you can lookup what Pokemon are in Gen 2 - people are going ahead and loading up on candies to do evolves for Gen 2 Pokemon.  Crazy.

Well there are like 721 different  Pokemon, I believe. So they have a lot they can do with this game

I'm pushing LV 22...I keep finding myself running out of poke balls.  So many more pokemon to catch I've had to become selective.  Always want to keep a few on me in case I see a Snorlax (which I've yet to even see on my radar).

If they keep doing these buddy candy bonuses for all the holidays, I might switch to a magicarp as my buddy. It's my only hope of getting a huge pokemon without luck.

Yeah, I've got snorlax as mine for now - but I've only got 2 of them and they are getting close to being maxed out.  So I'll likely switch to magicarp or charmanders at that point.

They spawn down by the harbor so I had enough in about 2 weeks. Just waiting for one worth evolving.

Caught a Dratini yesterday for 8 candies, and walked another 5K today to get me enough candies to evolve my first Dragonite. It has cp2521 and 80% perfect IVs.

Oooh, but good news for me. The 1600 arcanine I left at the mall last night is still there. So for the first time ever, I am able to collect coins from helping hold a gym.

Is there a trick to getting 10k eggs?  In'm LV 21 and still only seem to get 5k and 2k eggs.

I remember having some way back, but nothing recently.   I feel like its my only chance to get something good.

Gyms are too heated around here.  I have 3 guys that have been holding their spots for about a week now.  The highest CP is a Exegutor 1631.  Saw a level 2 gym on the way to work this morning.  Think I'll head over there at lunch.

I'm thinking christmass will be the next event.   Ice Pokémon?   Hopefully start to see Lapras like Rattas?
Honestly, Xmas would be the perfect time for them to release some type of device or something that assists with the game, like a tracker or something.

Been waiting forever but finally gonna use my last lucky egg tonight. I have like 8-9 first time evolves coming up, and the halloween event was definitely a big help in getting to 100 candies for a few of them. Been walking my Dratini around and just hit enough for an evolve this morning, so it's on.

Interested to see just how different the pokemon will be in Vegas vs here in the Philly area.

I did this but it's still going to take a lot of time.

More Jynx and Abra Kadabra, fewer Snorlax and Machops?

70,000 xp and Level 24 on the lucky egg!

Newly registered to the pokedex in that run:

Dragonair

Gengar

Kadabra

Nidoking

Nidoqueen

Persian

Starmie

Victreebel

Vileplume

Wartortle

Yeah....been waiting a while on this one.

Sometimes I hate people. Some little ### borrowed my 12 year old daughters phone on the bus, he then proceeded to spend all her stardust on rats just to be a jerk. My daughter was sad because she was saving up for some big power ups

I want to castrate him so he won't reproduce.

That sucks. Kid straight up threw away the toughest resource in the game to get. You should buy your daughter some incubators. Egg hatching is probably the fastest way to get stardust and she'll have fun hatching the pokemons. Then throw that kids monster truck into a lake.

I haven't had much luck with egg hatches since the first day of the event but I've been making good progress with my buddies. I got enough candies for both a Venusaur and Blastoise. The Venusaur has a grass/grass moveset which is what I wanted. It's tempting to keep it as my buddy to power it up but I'm going to switch to Kabuto as it's the rarest pokemon I have left that can be evolved through the buddy system.

So I assume they have to push out an update to clear up the Halloween stuff. I am tempted not to download it in order to keep this quick walking candy bonus going.

I would be extremely surprised if this worked. The Halloween stuff is almost certainly all handled on the server.

The gps in my favorite lunch spot is so bad that I can sit here and get a carp candy by leaving it open and spinning it 90 degrees

After another bout of junk including multiple Paras, Zubats, and Meowths we finally received some decent Pokemon out of our eggs: a Growlith, >900 Tangela, and now have a 10 k going again. (fingerscrossed)

How far are you guys needing to walk to get a buddy candy?  Ever since they had the buddy feature, I had a snorlax in there, and it was 1 candy per 5km walked.  When this new event thing came out, it dropped to 1.25km per candy.  I just switched my buddy to a magikarp (you need 400 ####### candies for an evolve) and it's only .25km per candy!  Is that part of the Halloween event?

ETA - nevermind, found it.  Helpful guide for anyone interested.

Halloween event (which appears to still be going on?) gives buddy candies for 1/4 the distance.

Keep waiting for the event to end but i am going to keep getting those Bulbasaur candies.

My 12 year old daughter was guessing they may do some type of flying Pokemon offer for Thanksgiving--like Fearows and such.

Got that, but I didn't realize that there is a different distance for different creatures.  Some have a standard of 5km, others 3km, and still others like magikarp are 1km.

and the Halloween treat seems to be over.  It was fun while it lasted.

Finally got some 10k and hatched a 5k one that got me a Machop - 602.  I had never seen one around here, but I did get one in Atlanta.

Sounds like they really are doing a Thanksgiving event featuring spearows, slowpokes, ponytas and psyducks. Those don't really interest me much, but I'd be glad the have the buddy candy bonus back.

Prior to the Halloween bonus, I had seen three wild Growlithes, one of which ran away, and I also hatched two. So I had evolved an Arcanine but it was barely at 2000cp.

But I learned last week on the Silph Road map that there is a Growlithe nest near me. Thanks to the double candy bonus I now have three Arcanines (2417, 2391, and 1773), with 108 Growlithe candies to spare. I'm just waiting for more stardust to max them out. According to my pokedex I've seen 39 and caught 37, so I must have caught 33 of them in the past week. with double candy that's like catching 66 of them.

I wouldn't mind seeing guys automatically booted from gyms after a week. I've had a Lapras in a gym for almost 2 weeks now. The coins are nice but it kind of sucks not having it available for gym battles for so long. No idea when I'll get it back. It's in the 2nd highest spot of a level 10 gym.

I have another Lapras in the top spot of a level 9 gym. They both seem like they could be there for a while.

Yeah one person can't take down one of those level 10 gyms by themselves.  I tried and I could get it knocked down a bit, but it just drained all my revives as I went on.

Now that they are back to the normal rules, they had better come up with something interesting as this game has gotten pretty dull.

I keep seeing the same types and the points are too far apart to level up in a reasonable amount of time.

I took down one by myself. Does take a lot of resources. But doing it strategically can help save on resources. I don't go for the 1500 pt bonus for beating all the pokemon in the gym until it's down to level 5 or so. You will use less resources by getting 500 pts for beating the weakest pokemon in the gym over and over until he gets kicked out. Then do the same to the next lowest. This strategy limits the amount of times you fight the strongest pokemon in the gym, which are the biggest consumers of your health potions.

Another way to look at it is, the 1500 pt bonus earned for beating all 10 pokemon adds only 150 pts per battle won. But the 1500 pt bonus earned for beating all 5 (or 4, or 3, etc...) pokemon in the gym adds 300 pts per battle (or 375, or 500, etc...). So the bonus for beating all the pokemon in the gym is regressive the more pokemon in the gym there are. Thus just conserve resources by beating the snot out of the weakest one over and over and over again.

Of course, this requires an hour or so, depending on how strong the gym is. But doing it this way reduces the time because it takes less time to beat the weaker pokemon than it does to beat the stronger ones. Basically you need to win about 80 battle, so make those 80 battles as easy as you can. By doing this strategy you can also avoid your pokemon fainting, so it shouldn't require 80 revives this way.

Oddly enough, several gyms near my work never get above level 4. I think it's cuz there's too much foot traffic for any one team to hold it for long or level it up very high. It may also be an older neighborhood with fewer players. I was a lunch today and saw one of them was gray, and it was still unclaimed even after my meal so I made a detour and tossed a poke in.

I also noticed seeing very few evees compared to the first month of playing.

Thanks Spock for the hint. I used this method and I managed to take the gym down to like level 5 before I had to leave for the day.

i am sure someone will go in and finish them off tonight.
