Pokemon Go (4 Viewers)

If I go on a 2 mile walk from my house, the app will crash or freeze at least 10 times. It's stable as hell if I start it up in the car and hand it to one of my kids though. So far I have it narrowed down to:

1. App crashes whenever it flips from the wifi at the house to cellular data.

2. Whenever it flips from "day" to "night"

3. anytime between "day" and "night" that it ####### feels like.

56 caught, 56 seen

561 caught total

75 evolved

446 Pokestops

29 battles

What level are you?  You are close to double me at everything.  I'm hoping you say at least level 25 (I'm at 19 and shudder to think I need to double everything to move up only a couple levels).
22nd level. 1/3 of way to 23rd. Keep in mind  levels get exponentially harder around 20... 22>23 is 100k EXP.

I'm low on pokestops because I have to travel to find good areas unfortunately. No pokestops anywhere near my home or office which sucks.

I do a lot of walking. 76k total so far. I've hatched 3 10k eggs. Hitmonchan, eevee and lapras. Only the lapras is any good.
I'm almost exactly the same distance (77k) and have hatched five 10k... One tonight (stupid 1kcp pincer) and one about to pop tomorrow. One before that was an evee. I have zero luck with rares in eggs.

the Ranier named Eevee>vaporeon finally failed me tonight.. A 669cp 96% perfect IV stats eevee I caught in the wild anddddd jolteon. The worst of the three. ####.

I have had the same issue of late, wonder if they finally killed it or if there is some other factor at play.

Took the kids downtown last night. In 2 hours of walking and playing (and stopping for gelato): 32 Pokestops and 42 Pokemon captured. And the best moment was my son asking, "Dad, can we walk another kilometer? I have 6 eggs about to hatch all at once." Tons of people downtown playing, all ages and sizes.

The radio today said that the average Pokemon GO player is female, 26-36 years old, and makes over $90,000 a year. So there is that.

Had to go for a run last night and the GF suggested this park behind a YMCA she works out at because it has a Nice walking/jogging trail with a lot of pokestops. She wasnt kidding (500ft Scale icon left on bottom for reference). Had a great 2mi run and hit a ####load of stops while running, spinning on the fly. Some spots were so dense (3 stops within ~30ft) that it was tough to get them all while running.

Point is, we noticed a few things:
• The park was MOBBED. She said it used to be pretty dead when she would run there a year ago.
• EVERYONE was playing pokemon go. About a half mile in we were laughing about it... I'd say 85-90% of folks had phones out on POGO Screen while playing/walking/running/etc. It was insane.

Made for a few interesting encounters having to dodge folks walking 3 across wtih heads down, oblivious to their surroundings... but most folks were pretty self-aware. Pretty amazing to see how many folks are out and about walking/running and playing this game.

Oh, we stopped and hit a gym midway.... two teenage girls were huddled around and had just taken it (saw it go from grey to yellow). Asked GF if she wanted to take em out... we jogged in place and my 1800cp vape smoked their two 500ish guys without taking more than 15% damage. We took the gym, dropped our 'mon into place and took off right around the time the girls figured out what had happened     I left them an 1800cp Vape to contend with.

We will likely run there at least once a week... very cool spot.

I have to echo the amount of people downtown here is amazing. It is like a mall crawl some nights down there with the amount of people walking around.

Our city is predominately suburbs. Everyone comes into the city to work and then there is this huge exodus at night to get home, which sucks because our downtown is nice, clean and has a lot of cool places to eat and shop. The city passed a pretty controversial ordinance that makes it illegal to sit for long periods of time to basically scare off all the homeless, but I pointed out to my wife last night, there must be 250 people sitting around this one corner (the amazing 5 Pokestop accessible one that always has at least 4 lures going on it :excited: ), I wonder if they are going to ticket all of them?

It will be interesting to see the effect this has on the local downtown economy because it seemed everyone had a drink of some sort in their hands and the traffic in local restaurants/bars seemed to be booming.

Went to a pokestop, threw down a lure and lit an incense.  Hatched a lucky egg and went to town on evolves, occasionally spinning the stop or catching something that came up to me.  Went from just starting level 20 to roughly a quarter of the way through level 21.  Crazy, now my highest guy in whatever all those egg things evolve into.  Dude is like 1,500+ CP!

Anyone else getting an XP bonus right now for catching pokemon?

The last two I caught gave me 100xp, and another 100xp listed as "bonus".

And no, I'm not using a lucky egg. Not complaining though! Hopefully it lasts for a while.

If you want Jolteon, name your eevee Sparky before evolving

If you want Vaporeon, name it Rainer

If you want Flareon, name it Pyro
Does this still work?  Forgot to rename my last evee evolve and got a Flareon.  Have two more that I'm saving up for - should be able to evolved one of those today.  Do you have to wait to rename until it's time to evolve, or can you rename them now and then evolve once they are ready?  Sounds like a Vapreon is better than Jolteon right now.  Is that still the case?

Didn't work for me this morning, though I had already done this for each name once.  Eevees pop up here all the time, though, so I probably evolved 8 or 9 of them and got plenty of each.

It seems like everyone has a high CP vaporeon now. I think electric and grass pokemon do double damage against them, so getting a high jolteon is a good idea.

Good root cause analysis here.

Problem is Vapes are so powerful across the board that even with high damage, Jolts still get their asses handed to them against Vapes.

####!!! Almost had. A bulbasaur !!!!!!! 8 balls and then game froze!!!! ####
I wonder how often the "special" category ones show up. I'm level 20 and I just saw my first Charmander today. I've seen zero Bulbasauer, and zero Pikachu, but I do have 5 Squirtle.

Caught a Hypno, Tangela, and Slowpoke on the way in to work this morning.  None were on the tracker - each just kinda popped up unexpectedly.  Beats all the Rats and Pidgeys I see everyday.

Two things about pokestops, at least with me -

You can spin one that's just outside of your white circle.  I mean just outside, not like way outside.  I have two just outside my circle when at my office desk.  I can normally spin one if not both.

They turn purple to blue when your time limit is up, by I typically have to wait another 15-20 seconds after it turns blue before it lets me spin them.

I evolved my fist set of Eevees yesterday...did 4 of them.  The first three worked for naming and I got one of each.  All produced what they should.  The 4th one did not work.   Got a Flareon named Rainer.

I think it works either for the first three only, or until you have one of each already.

In what order did you do the first three? I still think that when you do one, then you have to do the other two before it lets you duplicate the first one again.

Pretty sure I did Rainer, Pyro, Sparky... I know Rainer was first.  Might have reversed 2 and 3.  Then tried for another Rainer and it failed.  I'll report back when I am ready to bump another...

Just started...

I have multiples of the same type.  Can I combine?
not sure what you mean by "combine", but I generally keep my top 2 and transfer all lower ones to the professor for candy.  I do keep a stockpile of pidgeys for experience evolving with lucky eggs.

Funny--seeing and catching a few of these for the first time is cool, in that "catch 'em all" spirit. But they really don't seem to evolve or power up that high overall, meaning they're never going to be in my top 8-12 pokemon, so I don't really like seeing them anymore. Especially the zero-evolution types like Tangela, Jynx, etc. that don't help you level up at all. If it isn't a new pokemon or one whose candies I need to evolve something cool that might be useful, I'd much rather run across a bunch of pidgeys and weedles that can easily help me level up than these types that are tougher to catch and don't do me much good.

But then, I'm just trying to hit level 30 so I can use some of this 212,000 startdust I've saved on high level pokemon without "wasting" any and really start battling for gyms. I could also be totally wrong about the potential of these types that I just said I don't ever see as being tops on my squad...maybe they could be with enough power-ups.

I see what you're saying, but I'm kind of the opposite. IMO the game gets old when all you are seeing is weedles, ratatas, and pidgeys all day. They are absolutely important for leveling up, but at this point the only thing that gets me excited about the game is when something pops up that I've never seen before.

No, I feel you. I'd much rather see something new or rare that I need candies to power up. I just meant these kind of lame middle-ground pokemon that aren't good enough to be tops but not scrubby enough to easily level with--the Venonats, Clefairies, Paras's, Jigglypuff types that cost 50 to evolve and are harder to catch. Feel the same way about the lamer zero-evolution ones like I said.

This

I dont care so much about the battling aspect or leveling. We just want to find them all.

jesus christ... you into tantric sex by chance?
:lmao:

I just haven't done any gym battling yet, and every time I'm about to power something up I find a higher cp version I can evolve next time.

I'll use a bunch of it soon on something that's harder to find or takes forever...about to pop a lucky egg to hit level 23 and evolve into a bunch of new guys like Nidoking and Nidoqueen, whatever cat thing a Meowth turns into, the 3rd Oddish evolution, Gengar, etc. Things that took me forever to collect 50 or 125 candies for to take them all the way and started at a pretty high cp seem to be the most worthwhile to power up, as they'll be my "endgame" guys, and I'm just now starting to get some of those types. Just finally evolved a sweet Arcanine that deserves some powering up the last time I used a lucky egg, for instance. I don't evolve anything outside the lucky egg bubble of double xp, seems like a waste. I guess I'm kind of anal about it lol

I'm the opposite.  Have caught tons of pikachu, quite a few bulbasaurs and a number of charmanders.  Have not seen a squirtle.

Hatched a 445 Pikachu, yo!
This is the only way I'll ever evolve one, they are super rare near me. Have caught three crappy 80cp ones in about three weeks, and hatched one 493cp one, which is where the majority of my candies came from. Need to hatch one more, or find 5-6 more in the wild.

Anyone else have their GPS just jump them around and earn them free distance on hatching eggs? Mine does it all the time, I usually hatch a couple eggs per night this way just leaving the app open on the arm of the couch while I do other stuff. If it jumps me too far too quickly, no distance accrues of course but I can usually spin some pokestops that are down the street before getting zapped back. But if it leaves me at the wrong location long enough that I could have conceivably walked there, I get the distance on my eggs. I'll take it.

So, im sitting at a mini golf place with a gym here. I take down a level 2 gym and put my pokemon in there. My nephew asks if I collected. I did. He goes in and destroys my guy and then two other yellow guys come in and get the gym to level 4. How on earth do people hold gyms for the full 21 hours

I found this helpful as I sit waiting for the kids to finish. Lots of stuff already posted in here but its good for new guys like @rascal

If I were to try, pretend that I have non-crappy pokemon, I'd keep battling my gym to keep the prestige up. Maybe I'd be lucky enough to live and work right next to the gym so I could boost it back up if it runs low.

The more I think about it, the more stupid I think the gyms are. What motivation do I have to take a gym once I collect my coins for the day. All that happens is I have a bunch of pokes that need potions which I dont have because I trash them all for pokeballs when im full.

Btdubs, the boardwalk gift shops have every pokemon t shirt you can think of including individual team color shirts. Lolz
