Pokemon Go (1 Viewer)

Here is the main issue for me. I play with my kids and my nephew. With pokevision, I was able to see where things were. Sometimes things on my close map were .5 miles away. No problem if im at the beach. But my house is on a culdesac with a very busy street and traffic either way. So if the pokemon is not .1 mile where the end of my block is, im not walking across main roads to find something that might be right, or left, or straight in the woods.

Im sure there are more people like me than Clayton

Like I said, I was all ready to drop some money to upgrade my backpack. Didnt happen and im not sure it will now.

I'm sure there are more Pokemon Go players who have never seen PokeVision than have.

And there are tons of pokemon go players who live in NYC who dont have to leave their couch. Neither pertains to my situation and looks like a lot of others who dont want to wander around the suburbs hoping something pops out.

I am amazed that so many people are going insane over a change to a feature that wasn't working.

So is the pokemap live fake? It seems to be working, but I haven't gone out to test it
Ive never heard of that until you said it a few posts ago. But from what I can gather, they locked up their servers to protect from third party and sent the ones that were live cease and desist letters

Can't speak for anyone else, but when we go out at night to walk around and hunt pokemon, we see dozens of groups doing the same, and hundreds of people doing it alone...a ton of these people are using Pokevision, with the groups having a navigator. I think its more common than you think for anyone who gets pretty into the game.

If piratebay can survive, and nadis can make what was purported to be 9Million off clash mods I'm gonna guess these guys tell them to pound sand.

Removing the footprints is a big freaking deal.  I get it that it's server overload, but I would rather have no server than a game with no footprints and no mods.  At that point you are left primarily to just camp lures or hot spots. This was a huge ####up imo.
The footprints didn't work anyway so I don't see the big deal.

They did the first week the app came out, which is when the app received it's most growth. It's been in decline ever since the footstep feature stopped working.

I read it best somewhere on reddit... "you don't invent 'Marco Polo' type game, get 80 million people to play it, then remove the 'Marco Polo' part of the game completely and expect it to be the same game."

I think if sites like Pokevision didn't fill in the gap while the footprints were broken, the app would have taken a dive a lot sooner. If the app is going to succeed, it's got to have the "Marco Polo" part in it. Without that, any success it has will be a fraction of what it could have been.

It always showed 3 footprints for every nearby Pokemon before the upgrade - never seen 1 or 2 tracks.  What I missed is being able to click on them to get them to come closer.

If you read the Forbes article is suggests that the footprints are the main reason the servers couldnt accommodate the demand. During the beta, the app listed how many meters each poke was away. They quicly realized how much of a drain that was and went to the footsteps

Then they saw what that did

Even when the footsteps went down, there was a short time that the tracker still worked. You could tell if you were getting further or closer. But that stopped working as well

All I'm saying is people are up in arms about losing the footprints after the update but the update didn't break anything. Its been broke for awhile.

Pokevision replaced footsteps.  Then they killed it. Not sure why this is so hard to see the outrage.

No steps or vision and you have no game but go walk in a line and hope you run into something. Fun.

Seriously charge 4.99 a month for pokevision in the game I bet at least 50% of the 80m users pay for it. That's 200m a month.

Anyone else have pidgeys and weedles running a lot more? Makes me think they may be trying to kill the lucky egg power-leveling aspect, or make it tougher. Probably think that when people hit level 30 they'll start to get bored and not buy stuff since the gym battles aren't very fleshed out.

Today I had a 10 cp pidgey curve my throws,  then run away.  I'd  never seen that before.

Yeah before the the update any Low tier CP10 had a 100% capture rate.  Now, these pokemon all seem strong. I'm going through pokeballs quicker than a fat kid with potato chips.

Are there any benefits to not evolving something?  I need one more squirtle, but we don't see many and the kids are upset that we won't have him anymore. Despite his evolve being better

Yes, this is something reddit has called out.  Seems like a money grab.

The longer you hold, the more likely you'll find a stronger mon of the source type in the wild, right?  That is, you will eventually find a squirtle that has 100 more CP than your current best, then you will wish you could evolve that one.  But your candies will be already spent.

That's the only drawback I can think of.  If you have a squirtle that is already near-max CP that concern is really minor.

Thanks. They really dont care about that. They just dont want me to evolve squirtle bc then we wont have him anymore. I want to crack a lucky egg to evolve so I get the extra xp.

One thing I've picked up is that as far as evolving you want to mind what the characters have for special ability. Some of the lower level stuff you can evolve can have one of two abilities and these abilities have different starting power, and since they seem to be tweaking the abilities it's important to stay flexible there.

They really messed up imo. I just went from 8.28 to 8.95 on my egg, so however long that is to walk.

Saw what looked like a sideways toad with arrows coming out of his head. Pull up the nearby and he does not change once. Didn't matter if I went right, left, straight. In fact, none of the 9 pokes moved unless I got one.

So footsteps aside, now we dont know if we are hot, cold, warm. It's a guessing game.

I like the analogy ofremovingg marco polo from the game. Wtf. I can see casuals being done real quick when all they can get are pidgeys which run away at arming rates now

I play a lot less than I used to, now. A lot of that has to do with tracking, and a lot to do with the skyrocketing difficulty of catching 'mons. I'm definitely done feeding money into the game (deposited $40, which I got refunded by Apple after this latest update).

Sample size of 1... but that's where I am.

I'm with you, though I never paid in.  Was considering it, but won't now.

Apparently the refund requests have exploded and are overwhelming apple and google. Apple is honoring requests and refunding. Google has dropped the ball and directs folks to contact Niantic (who's support email goes to an unmonitored email box
