Pokemon Go (3 Viewers)

My 8 year old daughter who is a lvl 8 just went on a walk and came home with a CP 230 Jolteon and a CP 210 Sqirtle.

i know these guys aren't going to grow into a 2000 CP monster but I'm jealous.

Well, are you excited?
To be honest...kinda.

My boys like to play but their aim is horrible.  I go for walks on my lunch break (downtown area) and can easily gather 50 pokeballs.  If I see a pokemon I haven't seen before, I'll try and catch it.  My boys light up if I catch something they haven't seen before.

The Jinx looks like nothing I've seen to this point.  It just looked like something I should be excited about.

cuz she wears a bra?

Do any of you play the real Pokemon games?  Was thinking of buying a 2DS for my daughter because it looks like those games will be more fun for her (and so she'll stop borrowing my phone).

I haven't played any of them since pokemon gold/silver. They're good fun though.

I played Pokemon Pearl on DS when I was 8 or 9 - had quite a bit of fun with it.  I can imagine that for a younger person with no phone/car, it would be more enjoyable than Go.

This game is flat out boring now. There's barely more than one pokemon in my sightings box anymore. Put a lure down and caught nothing but ratata and Pidgey.

I think this game became way more popular than they were ready for.  Kind of a shame, because it has tremendous potential.

I still am catching all kinds of stuff around my office in the city, but boy, you get in the suburbs and there is nothing here. Pidgey, Spearow, a bat and a Growlithe are all I have on my nearby screen.

My son and I always get both new games and we play through them in a little competition to see who can finish first. Than I'll trade him all the pokemon that are exclusive to my game so he can try to finish the pokedex. They're fun, but very repetitive.

I was shocked to find a Snorlax on my walk today. No lure, no incense,  just sitting there by a pokestop.

I have caught 1240 pokemon, and visited 1177 pokestops.

Looks like for every pokemon you want to catch plan on visiting an equal amount of pokestops... unless you want to buy balls.

I was saving my gym coin winnings for a bag expansion and was up to 170.  Came back from my walk and noticed that I am now at 10 coins.  I guess while I was walking I pocket-bought 2 incense.

That is the last item I would buy as the previous 2 I have used have gotten me a total haul of about 4-5 pidgeys per use.  Is there a support button anywhere in the game where I can request a reversal?

I am in Miami on the coast for business and it's crazy the kind of Pokemon that spawn here all the time...magikarp, charmanders, psyducks. Got Ponyta, Voltorb, Dodrio, Dratini and Tentacruel which are all new to me. They need to really do a better job of changing up the spawns so you're not stuck with the same Pokemon in a region all the time.

This happened to me as well.  Hate it when that happens!

Working from home today and a 2051 Dragonite spawned right outside my house!! It's a normal spawn spot for common Pokemon but I have seen the occasional rare spawn (Onix, Squirtle, Koffing). Threw about 10 Razz and 15 Ultras before he ran away. I guess it's back to Dratini farming for me.
I caught a 45 cp weedle from my bed earlier today.

Congrats! Look at the bright side though:

- Spawn locations never move (unless it is deleted during an update)
- The location will spawn a Pokemon once per hour

I've got four spawn spots that I can access without leaving my house. These spots will spawn at x:19, x:44, x:48 & x:54 without fail.

Since the update:
- The sightings feature works (this is huge)
- All Pokemon shown in the Sightings list are within 200 meters of your location

So, knowing all of the spawn locations/times that are within 200 meters of your home/work, means that anytime a rare or desired Pokemon pops up on your Sightings list, you should be able to easily track them down.

Whoa.  In all the hours I've played this, it never occurred to me that the spawn points were fixed locations, or spawned at regular intervals.  Good info here

So I need some clarification on battling. I decided to dip in the pool today and take down a gym. I won and left one Pokémon back. I claimed my 10 coins and whatever else you get with it.  My guy was subsequently defeated. I just went back in and took that Gym over again when can I get more coins or are you only able to collect once per 24 hours and is that for any gym? In other words if I took down two different gyms can I only get 10 points total per day

So, normally at home we only see maybe 8 or 10 pokemon types. Pidgeon, weedle, caterpie, few others.

After a recent trip where we caught a lot of exotic (to us) pokemon like horsea, staryu, magicarp, goldeen laprus. Will we start seeing these other pokemon appearing or will it just be the same old weedles and ####?

When you collect, your reward is based on how many gyms you're in at that moment. Then you can't collect for another 20 hrs I believe, no matter how many more gyms you defeat in that timeframe.

And then the pokemon will disappear after 15 minutes?

There's this spot at my park where I usually get a psyduck, I might try to find out if he follows this hourly schedule.

Does increased foot traffic speed up that hourly schedule? Increase the number of spawns? At the mall I can't walk 30 seconds without seeing something.

Same stuff, unfortunately - we're pretty lacking in water-types here as well.

Yeah, in one of the updates, they made it that you can't just collect every time a gym changes hands. It's 21 hours per collection now. And I don't think holding multiple gyms nets any additional coins.
