Pokemon Go (3 Viewers)

This is so strange to me.  I have never even seen a Magnemite.  Seen Pidgeys(229), Ratattas (162) and Weedles(199) are the most common for me.  See a lot of Eevees too, 97.
Similar to my Dratini experience, I have only seen a magnemite once, and within 5 minutes I caught 3 pretty much in the same spot.

Don't make it about leveling up, otherwise it will be a grind.  The slope gets ridiculous in the 20's and insane in the 30's.  I am L23 like you, and the math shows I'd need to keep up my 100k XP / week pace for about 4 more years to reach the (current) highest level.  No thanks.

For me the fun comes from filling out the pokedex.
I'm on lvl18, but I'm mostly interested in filling out the pokedex as well. I'm kinda hoping that the nests/spawns keep rotating so that I don't have to travel around looking for new pokemon. I've been seeing more meowths, machops and abras in my area, so maybe they do rotate stuff periodically.

I don't really care about gym battles.
This is pretty much me...although I only have 92 with 94 seen.

I really hope there is some kind of rotation because I love the game, but the lack of variety is hard to keep an interest when you are catching the same thing over and over at Level 21

My last catches are pretty much the norm:

Mankeys (they are everywhere)-4

Pidgeys--6

Digletts--2

Drowzees--2

Rats-5

Magnemites--5

None were over 500cp and I am at 74 out of 74 in the Pokedex

What's everyone's experience with Magikarp? Are they all ****ty?  I'm a lvl 22 with 668 candies and 6 Magikarps.  CPs between 95 and 136 and avg to high ivs of low to mid 80s and low 90s.  My CP 95 has an iv 79/98  CP 136 79/93 and hatched.  Are there any better to hold out for?

I work in Georgetown between the waterfront and the C&O Canal.  Seeing Dratinis more frequently and just evolved one into a 1079 iv89 Dragonair

Checkout fdr. Pretty good spot

Yes, magikarp are all ####. The semicircle above the pokemon shows you where they are as a percent of max CP. At level 22, that's probably around 140-150. The CP multiplier when you evolve them is like 11.5 though.

Thought I'd be able to reach level 25 by the end of the day (150 XP needed).  Hatched an egg and did a straight half hour of evolves.  Got to 115k.  Likely won't happen till next week.

Still don't know WTF IV is though
From PokeAssistant, which includes tools to help you determine (or at least approximate) your pokemon's IVs:

Each type of Pokemon has a base set of attributes for Stamina, Attack and Defence. Each specific Pokemon is "born" with it's own IV (individual values), that further increase these stats by 0-15 extra points. You can not change the IV's, not all Pokemon are born equal.

These IV's make small differences in the final power of a Pokemon. For example, the base attributes of a Charizard are 212, 182, 156. This would be the "worst" charizard available where all IV's are zero. With max IV's, a Charizard would have 227, 197, 171. Each of these Atk, Def and Stam values for Charizard are only 7-10% better.

Nonetheless, if having the absolute best Pokemon is critical to you, this tool wll help you find the hidden IV values that your Pokemon has so you can decide to keep it or try for something better. Absolute perfection isn't just having the best IV's, the "perfect" Pokemon would have both maximum IVs AND the best Moveset possible

If they ever implement the trade system, you're gonna be rich!! ... or something like that.
I've heard rumors of that, which is why I'm holding and not cashing in some lower level, but still rare ones I've caught.  Any updates on this?

  They haven't even expanded the new nearby list to everyone yet.

If they ever do, I can help out all my FBG buddies with all the Magikarp, Golduck, and Slowbrows you could ever want.....My townhome is right on a fairly frequent water spawn

I think 30-40% of the #### I catch are EEVEE's (confirmed, 169 of them so far). I'm bursting at the seams with Vaporeon/Flareon/Jolteon.

I stopped playing this a few weeks ago. It was a BLAST for the first week or two, and I very quickly lost interest. Am I missing any huge improvements?

I have a single magikarp from an egg, but none of the others. All of those have a very high evolve ratio, right?

Happy to pay you back in Eevees, Pidgeys, Rats....and more recently Bulbasours, Nidorans, and Pincers.

I seem to find one new Pokemon a day, so maybe the spawns are spreading out a bit? Found a porygon outside my office building today...never even been on my radar before.

Just saw my first Tangela in the backyard. He ran away after one ultra ball. :sadbanana:
Um, just looked at my pokedex and recently caught and he is in there. Odd. Has that happened to anyone else. He def ran away. We got the smoke animation.

That was my 2nd Lapras. The other one was hatched from a 10k egg. Those guys are pretty cool

It's almost as if we are playing different games.  Other than Rhydon and the Eevee evolutions I have never run across any of these.

Today I caught 4 new Pokemon that I do not have and actually saw a bunch of undiscovered ones on my "radar" but of course have no way of tracking them down.  New ones that I caught were a 505CP Tauros, 102CP Charmelion, 34CP Onix, and a 28CP Kakuna (all pretty much garbage), and I saw what I suspect to be a Charizard on my radar.  I walked around for 15 minutes only to have it vanish.

Also caught a maxed Graveler, so I evolved it into a 1446CP Golem.  By far the most interesting day I've had on this game in weeks.

Water pokemon are extremely accessible to me. I'm working on my third Poliwrath. The previous 2 had poor movesets so I scrapped them and started to work on another as poliwags are so easy for me to get. I also see horsea, krabby, staryu, tentacool, seel, psyduck almost every day I play. Drowzees are also annoyingly common. I've evolved 4 or 5. Squirtles slighting are frequent enough that I could see myself getting enough for a Blastoise one day. I have a Wartortle and 30 candies. I saw 3 more squirtles on my sightings list over the past week or so but I couldn't track down any of them.

Fire pokemon though I basically never seen. I hatched a charmander from a 2k egg. I've never seen another. I got lucky and caught a ninetails one day then later hatched a vulpix from a 5k egg. Other than that I've never seen another fire pokemon in the wild. No growlithes, ponytas, magmar, etc.

Pretty much the opposite here in western KS. I have four Arcanine, six Rapidash, two Ninetails. After hatching a ####load of eggs, I've finally gotten some things like Golduck, Kingler, Poliwhirl, and Tentacruel, but it's taken a while.

That's probably the most frustrating part of the game for me right now - even if I'm near water, the game has apparently decided there should be no water pokemon here. Maybe in 5 years I'll hatch enough Magikarp for a Gyarados.

Oh, one thing that's been hot on Reddit lately but I don't recall seeing it here -

Download Ingress. If you get about 1 km away from any of the little energy dots (not sure what their real name is on the game), get back to Pokémon Go and drop an incense. My understanding is that the energy dots on Ingress can double as Pokémon spawn points. Usually the Pokémon drawn by an incense are still location-based, but by getting far enough away from any spawn points, the spawns become much more random. Seemed to work for me - plenty of Pidgy/Rattata still, but also got things like Horsea, Jigglypuff, and Poliwag, which you never see around here.

Just saw a Snorlax on my nearby list. I'm level 24 and never seen nor hatched one. One of my kids hatched on from a 10K egg, but my other two hadn't seen one either. We walk up the block one way and it disappears from the nearby list. We head the other way and find it. All of us catch it. Mine is cp941.

It happened to be on top of one of my kids friends house, so he texts him to tell him. He sees it, but has no pokeballs. He runs to the park about 1/4 a mile away, hits a pokestop, runs back, but by the time he got back it was gone.
