Polian out (1 Viewer)

I heard on the Dan Patrick show this morning that Polian wanted to trade Manning and Irsay doesn't.
I am a really big Manning supporter.. But I can't see, financially speaking, how the Colts can risk keeping Manning, unless some serrrrrious restructuring is done. I bet, come september, he is a colt... It's who is sitting behind (or ahead of) him that'll be the most interesting
I would bet anything that Andrew Luck will be the the Colts first pick in the 2012 NFL draft.

It's either that or trade the pick for a bunch of 1st and 2nd rd picks. If there is any question about Manning's health you don't trade the pick. You take Luck, EOS. Personally I think you take him regardless.

I hope they do. I want my Browns to get RG3

If Peyton is healthy, he starts.

I'm going with this: The Colts are drafting Luck, guaranteed. Trading the pick for anything with a iffy Manning at the end of his career is just dumb. The Colts cut Manning (who secretly requests it as he knows the next few years in Indy are a waste of his time if he wants to win another SB) before the $28 million is due in March. Manning signs with SF (who instantly becomes a legitimate top 3 NFC team. Also cut and signed by SF is Wayne.

I'm not buying the Harbaugh, 'we are signing Alex Smith for 2012'. Once they get beat by a powerhouse offense in the next couple of weeks, he will hold out on Smith and see if the above takes place.

If Robert Irsay is hell bent on keeping Manning, even if it's only for a couple of years, then it is possible the Colts could trade the pick to Cleveland for 3 or 4 1st rd picks and the Colts take RG3 at #4. If the Colts don't trade the pick fast enough and neither Luck or Manning wants to play with the other, the value of the #1 overall could go down once other teams get wind of that situation. The best thing the Colts can do is make a decision now. If Manning's neck isn't right they would still have RG3 unless the Vikings take him at #3. If Manning's neck is good and the queens take RG3, then the Colts take Justin Blackmon at #4, otherwise they take RG3. Worst case scenario for the Colts is they trade Luck to Cleveland and the Vikings take RG3 and Manning's head falls off.

There is a zero percent chance that Indy trades the pick. They are picking Luck, now Irsay is just trying to bide time and figure out his best course of action.

What if Luck says he's not playing with the Colts? He does have some leverage and that could be enough to ruin what the Colts can get for him now. I'm hearing that Manning had Polian run out of town becasue Polian wanted Luck and neither QB wants to play with the other. Didn't you hear Luck's interview after the game? Didn't sound like someone that wants to play behind Manning. They better make their decision now while they can get a boat load for Luck or they better trade Manning.

A. I doubt Luck says that, there have been no implications up to now that he would

B. He has no leverage

C. Even if Manning is healthy and they in theory could get a ton of picks for him how many of those picks help Manning out immediately?

The Colts are drafting Luck come hell or high water. I would bet anyone a permanent ban on this site about it.

A. I doubt Luck says that, there have been no implications up to now that he would - Yes he has. Didn't you hear him say in the interview, "if that's the way it has to be...." and in a tone that sounded 100% that he didn't like the idea of playing behind Manning.

B. He has no leverage - What if he hasn't signed with an agent and threatens to play another year? Who is to say he doesn't pull another Eli?

C. Even if Manning is healthy and they in theory could get a ton of picks for him how many of those picks help Manning out immediately? - Maybe a lot and they might still get RG3 at #4 if they trade with Cleveland.

A. Thats quite an assumption to make especially after a hard fought BCS game.

B. The timing doesnt work out for him to gamble with the "play another year" threat. He could pull an Eli but again there have been no signs of him doing this and to my memory nobody has ever sat out a complete year.

C. Using your scenario of getting RG3, then it would take years for the picks acquired to help Manning win more games. Mannings shelf life assuming even if he is 100% is rather short. The Colts need a ton of help and Manning is not the difference between 2 wins and a super bowl. They need wr help, oline help and plenty of defensive help.

The colts are drafting luck and I would bet a perma ban from the is site on it.

or if you wanted to bet $50 on paypal or somethign I would be up for that

No owner or GM is so stupid that they would let Peyton, elway or Luck slip through their fingers. Peyton manning be damned.

Whats comical to me in all of this is that Luck consulted with Manning after last year about entering the draft and Manning advised against it. So now he probably will lose 20 million dollars and his job.

Even if Luck says I don't want to play behind Peyton, the value of the pick doesn't drop. As long as there are multiple teams interested in Andrew Luck the value for that pick will remain extremely high.
