I think we're going to see alot of 3-1 tackle weeks for him now.Was Andra Davis in the nickel?
The Bills went back to a 4-3 in Week 5, presumably to boost their run defense. They've not been much better in their current alignment, so it may not be permanent.Ahhh... wait a minute. Whats the scoop here? Why did this happen? Permanent?
No, he wasn't.Was Andra Davis in the nickel?
Any effect on Whitner going to the 4-3?
Based upon the past couple of weeks, I'd say it looks pretty good for Whitner.J Giles Band said:Jestefarean said:Any effect on Whitner going to the 4-3?![]()
I don't see much changing for Whitner. He's stayed on the field despite glaring man coverage issues and average recovery speed in the zone schemes. He did fine despite playing behind two solid run supporting ILBs in the 3-4. And the 4-3 certainly hasn't been good enough against the run to change the tackle opportunity in its first two games.Jestefarean said:Any effect on Whitner going to the 4-3?
More like 1-3 scores. To date he has only 16 solos, but 22 assists.I think we're going to see alot of 3-1 tackle weeks for him now.Was Andra Davis in the nickel?

Looking back, he had 60 assisted tackles in 2005. My league gives 2.5 for solos & 2.0 for assists, so I'm loving it.But they do play at KC where the stat crews are way down the list (#23) on assisted tackles awarded. If he can keep it around 3-3 and sprinkle in a big play here and there, he's still a decent LB5. (He's averaging 3-4 on the year so far)
That D is so bad that there are so many opportunites to make plays. Throw in how generous the Buffalo scorekeepers are with assists and Poz should still be a great source of tackles with some big plays sprinkled in.Blowing up this week (8), I read somewhere the D-line sucks and the other LB ain't doing much (like 4 tackle combined), so RBs gets to the 2nd and third level a lot... I see feast or famine with his situation, what you guys think?
I see it more of a feast or bigger feast situation. The D-Line in front of him are terrible, teams can succeed against the Bills in the short passing game, his fellow LBs are nothing special, etc. etc. His combination of talent, awareness, and awesome situation lead me to believe Posluszny is going to put up good tackle numbers whenever he's healthy.Blowing up this week (8), I read somewhere the D-line sucks and the other LB ain't doing much (like 4 tackle combined), so RBs gets to the 2nd and third level a lot... Merriman will have to be healthy enough to play, play more than a handful of situational snaps and then consistently shorten offensive drives with a strong pass rush to limit Posluszny's opportunity. I'm not sure he can accomplish the first of those, much less the second and third. Is Merriman going to affect Posluszny in a negative way?
