Post Week 4 Waiver Wire Pickups (2 Viewers)

Khalil Shakir might become relevant on one of the leagues better offenses. Has been inactive twice and didn't play an offensive snap until the third quarter. Couple of big time receptions in the comeback against Baltimore.

How ‘Bailout Josh’ found Khalil Shakir for the biggest play of Sunday’s win over Ravens

Draft Profile

Great TC, but buried on the depth chart. Now Crowder is out with a broken ankle, McKenzie is in the concussion protocol, and Kumerow is dealing with a high ankle sprain.

Chance he's the starting Slot WR Sunday v Pittsburgh.

Allen went right to him as soon as he entered the game. Wondering if the kid had fumbling problems in camp/practice. Was holding onto that ball for dear life on his first grab. He's a player though.

Algier(sp?) is not the darling people wanted this summer. Williams beat him out and then the CB turned RB did.
Remember Patterson was hurting so Huntley was promoted and then got as many carries.

Algier performed best and I really feel like that was the first stellar moments for him.

The Falcons guard is playing awesome- best in league, best G in years type awesome. They run in the G/T gap. You're looking for an inside runner that can also block well because Mariota is moving around. That's Damien or none of the above.

I'd expect a time share in the grinder role and Avery to be the third down back. He, too, can line out wide so he should have dibs on a third down role.

When did Damien go on IR?
I'd guess Algiers and Huntley have a small window to steal the sub job AND a job when Patterson returns.

Buffalo weather will start getting cold and they'll run more and throw to the TE. Small window for a fourth WR to step up and get noticed

I might wait a week to see if any of Allgeier or Huntley dominate/splash and, if not, then make a bid for Damien when he returns the following week. Probably a bad omen to drop anyone for Damien just yet.

Considering the injuries the cupboard is fairly bare
Basically a function of the RB landscape these days. If Cook goes down, you have Mattison. Also have Zeke/Pollard, Najee/Warren and maybe a few more. But once you get past those, it's not as clear cut as who the handcuff would be and whether the team would just prefer to go RBBC as a replacement.

You said Damien and "The Omen" in the same sentence.

Yes - it may have been intentional, too. ;)

I’m at the point where I want to drop Allen Robinson for Pickens. He’s an afterthought in the Rams offense.
I'd have done that 3 weeks ago. Who hasn't grabbed Pickens still? Short benches?
Someone got impatient and dropped him last week. Bye bye Allen.

Are people falling for Corey Davis again?
Only picking up Davis as a WR5 but those that are desperate don't have many better options.

Devonte Parker. Myers still questionable and guess who's coming to town this week? It's Detroit week. Start every Patriot. I don't care if the 3rd string QB Zap Branigan is in there. You start everyone against Det until further notice.

Doesn't seem a huge amount of interest out there. Trying to pick up Boone fairly cheaply where I think he might help as a bye-week fill in or as an improvement over end of bench RB's already on the roster, also looking to grab Corey Davis in a couple of places, similarly as an OK floor bye week play

Outside Allgeier, none of these guys are going to make your team. Especially if you are trying to add someone as a RB2 for Patterson or a WR 2/3 for Dotson.

Boone will be a 3-5 FF point a game guy. Just don't see the need for him, he may increase his role, but MG is the man now.

With the Rams running game stuck in mud, do we think Kyren Williams could have role when he returns?

He's on the smallish side but seemed to have some buzz before his high-ankle sprain in week 1. Probably several weeks away, but perhaps a pre-emptive pickup.
I recently heard about high ankle sprains recovery being bad from some podcast, but also found this article. Hopefully it helps you with the decision.

The main takeaways per article:
1. Players who suffer a high ankle sprain, regardless of position are unlikely to meet pre-injury performance levels in their first game back.

2. Running backs and wide receivers, but especially running backs, struggle to return to form compared to other positions.

3. When players return too quickly from the injury, their chance of returning fantasy value is significantly reduced compared to players who rehab for longer than four weeks.

4. Similarly, when players return in less than three weeks, they’re more likely than their counterparts to fail to ever meet their pre-injury performance levels.

--But all that being said if you have IR then stashing him would not be bad or maybe you trade him away right before he comes back when his value is seen as higher?

My league has a very shallow WW (12 teams, 17 roster spots plus 2 IR spots). Pickings are slim. I've held the #1 WW since week 1 and just nobody is doing it for me. My team is 0-4 despite being 6th in overall scoring so I clearly need some help (and now I'm losing Patterson for a month) but I just dont think using the spot on Boone makes sense. Dont believe in his talent at all.

But after that, its guys like Perine, Murray, Justice Hill, Hilliard and Pachego. NOTHING worthwhile at WR.

FF stinks this year :kicksrock:

When to pull the rip chord is a good discussion point.

Who are we are we dropping in Redraft this week (if you haven't already)?
  • Allen Robinson
  • Darnell Mooney
  • James Cook I imagine some (most) most FF managers hang onto RBs who have any chance at future relevancy
  • Cole Kmet, Hunter Henry, Albert O who are you replacing with? TE is a wasteland
  • Kadarius Toney young WRs sometimes get a pass but this seems hopeless
  • Kenny Golladay haha just kidding nobody has him rostered
  • Any QBs? Stafford is QB28, Rodgers QB21

Might need a thread for this. Definitely depends on bench spots and all that. When to cut bait on a guy like Gibson or Henderson (especially when you have both).

DJ Moore is another Im losing patience for as long as Baker is QB.

That's a guy I want to target. I think it turns around. Baker has been a trash bag but at least Darnold can support a 1K WR. He's 25, didn't forget how to run fast did he?
I've owned DJ since he was a rookie - he always seems to end up with the same numbers at the end. He may very well do so again - the number of plays the team is running is ridiculously low - although I am less confident than in years past despite having what was supposed to be the best QB he's ever played with.

I dropped Mooney last week - after that big play early against the Giants, I was having a lot of seller's remorse that things were turning around for him and Fields. But despite that, he had only 5 targets and there seems little upside in that Bears passing offense. They're going to run, run and run some more.

As for Toney, someone picked him up for free after waivers ran - I was hoping to get him this week, but want to pivot towards Wan'dale instead. As mentioned in other threads, he's the guy Daboll & Co. handpicked, while Toney is the talented, yet enigmatic and injury prone, guy they inherited and clearly don't like.

CEH owners living a charmed life. Unsustainable points per opportunity but fun ride if you’ve been plugging him in.

Should probably it pull the rip chord and find the most gullible guy in your league.

In shallow leagues Robinson is an easy drop. Jefferson will be coming back in a few weeks and it sounds like they will be bringing ODB back around week ten. Robinson will soon be on the bench. In deeper leagues I would still hold. He’s getting a decent amount of endzone targets. At this point he is a TD or bust receiver. He needs a Kupp injury to be relevent. Stafford looks Kupps way every time and if he isn’t open it goes to Higbee.

I’m holding on Mooney.

I’m holding on Cook. I’ve prematurely released rookies too many times.

I’m holding on Toney because the minute I drop him he will go off. They have to play him at some point.

Personally, I gave up on Hunter Renfrow before the injury because that offense has a ways to go before it clicks. He's on my watch list but Curtis Samuel was available and I still, tentatively, think that's an upgrade.

I gave up on Darrell Henderson today, for Isaiah Pacheco, and will not be putting him on my watch list. I will, however put Kyren Williams on the list.

Gave up on Jordan Mason as a lottery ticket because I'm not a masochist.

I also gave up on Nyheim Hines to acquire the Phil defense. All the preseason talk from Reich about increasing his role, particularly in the passing game, and how Reich would draft him for his fantasy team was clearly B.S.

Even if Taylor doesn't play this Thursday, I really have no interest in Hines.

I’ve already dropped so far this season …

James Cook
Hunter Renfrow ( before this weekend )
Devante Parker ( after week 2 )
Tyler Algeier
DJ Chark

But part and parcel of that has been a bad start and churning through people to try and get immediate results.

Having said that I still haven’t used No.1 waiver priority. Will probs go and scoop Parker back up after waivers run if no one else takes him, he’s definitely getting more looks now and yeah Detroit

Holding on …

Stafford
DJ Moore

Richie James and David Sills have either the most snaps or "woah that many" whenever I look.
I've watched stretches of game where I don't believe Jones looks at them.
It's really odd and concerns me.
Wandale is a fine pickup.
Slayton should be. Kenny should have been.
I don't think "we're starting high effort guys" is sustainable if they don't throw to them. Do you? I think Wandale is the only assured start and play a bunch guy here

I saw OBJ added in a ton of leagues this week. Presumably rumors & hopes? In part fueled by ambiguous social media stories.

As of today he’s an unsigned FA. Visited the Giants building yesterday. Rams would make the most sense in terms of fit.

2, 2, 10 & 2 targets

I still probably start him v Detroit but I would not be optimistic about a bunch of targets.

Boone on Denver. Gordon won't get all the RB touches.
Boone stinks and doesn't have the resume to be an every down guy. Fine, split with MG3, worthless.
It isn't like Williams was single handedly winning FF games for folks.
So now I'm to believe Boone enters the discussion and suddenly...

What's the box score or projections weekly Leroy? I'm not coming after you but I've seen a lot of people discuss him and i doubt anyone has seen him play much...most he ever carried was 49 times a few years ago, 2 other seasons he had a whopping total of 11 touches, that doesn't sound like someone the coaches can barely keep off the field, it sounds more like someone who hides and prays they can lock down an RB3 spot on an NFL football team.

Sorry if this sounds callous to Javonte Williams investors but I see very little to hang our hats on right now. And i see people talking about going ALL IN on Boone and...maybe I should just hand folks a cigarette and wish them good luck.
Would it suprise to see Denver trade for someone or bring in a FA RB? Williams was obviously a big piece to lose.

Already dropped the first two chuckleheads.

L Murray is the pick up as far as between Boone and Murray. I think Denver is done with Gordon. Boone can't pass protect so he'll never be a big thing. I can see Murray being the guy here unless Denver decides to make a trade for a K Hunt like player. I doubt that happens since Denver only has 5 picks going into next year and George Paton loves his picks. I'm praying Gordon can give me something the next few weeks but he will fumble again and he will get injured. Murray could be a league winner. I know he is old but he is a pro and might get most of the touches at some point. The downside is that Denver's run blocking has been terrible this year. Murray saved the day for me when Kamara went out a few years ago. Maybe he can do it again.

I wouldn't spend a huge amount on FAAB but I would like to get him.
