Post your rookie drafts - 2019 (1 Viewer)

I had 7 and 8 and took Henderson at 7. The guy at 9 was all messed up because that was his pick.  Just FYI for those looking at getting him.

Seems like an outlier.

I'm about to do basically the same thing in a couple days. Gurley owner picks at 1.11. If Metcalf is there at 1.07 I'm taking him but otherwise I'm either taking Henderson or moving back to 1.09. Which I might buy in a different deal anyway, so I'd have 7 and 9.

I don't mind reaching for my guys. Especially in a wild rookie draft that so far has appeared unpredictable to a lot. And all it takes is one other owner to feel the same about player x. I'd rather get made fun of for reaching than to get sniped and have to punch my own damn self.

My plan was to take Henderson at 7. Might be a reach but if you had me in your league and you picked 1.7 and 1.9, and you counted on Henderson 1.9 (or later), and I had 1.8, you wouldnt get him

This draft throws "value" out the window. Because there is no real consensus on where guys should go, you should just take the guys you want and move on.

When you try to get cute and maximize value, then you get burned.

I would love to get a league together of guys here who have the “outlier” view and everyone else (maybe some of the more vocal guys).  I’m not picking on anyone but would love to try a league with @Dr. Dan and @Milkman and @Andy Dufresne. @ghostguy123 @menobrown, @Hankmoody , @FF NinjaCan  we make this happen for small Stakes ($100)?
If I had more time I would be all over it.    I have gotten out of most of my leagues over the past few years.

Coming from the perspective that this a rookie pool thin in talent, I agree with the bolded.  There's only 4 or 5 players with decent talent in this draft so I don't see how people are looking for value with the 13th, 14th, 15th picks.  After the top 5 the rankings (at this point) are a crap shoot.

Understand. I cut half this year. Hoping to cut another half..Would still be awesome to see how the diverging styles play over time...

This draft sure is a crapshoot.  Was trying to decide between 2 players and the other was there for me 14 picks later.
Some players are being drafted in similar leagues so far apart it's hard to figure. Take who you want NOW!

In one going on right now. Darwin thompson and jalen Hurd just went mid second while brown, Murray and Irv Smith are still there.

I think this year will be one in which the few players who hit big (and there always seems to be at least a couple) will vastly separate their teams from the others

I say that because it is entirely possible these “big hits” will be guys drafted in the 2nd/3rd/4th rounds and not as the typical chalk picks. This can mean the big hits guys are going to the better teams who are picking at the ends of the rounds.

It's a good idea, appreciate the mention,  and I agree it would offer an element of fun and competition past monetary gain but after I year I bit off more leagues then I could chew and swore I'd never do it again  I went ahead and did it again.

I think this is the reason to NOT just go ahead and take who you want no matter what.  All the drafts I see are so wildly different, try and get as many picks as you can in the 7-15 range and get two guys for 1 if possible, and heck may be even get a guy for free because the guy you wanted at 3 slides to 7, or the guy you want at 8 slides to 13.

Unless you know for sure you are some dynamo who never gets picks wrong, then this is the perfect draft to try and "get cute" I would think

Lol, I feel for ya there man. I’ve cut way down as well. Maybe some year when many have cut deep enough to squeeze more in we can make it happen.

We started our drafts one day early. I'll post results once they get a little further, but already a major surprise in one. It went Jacobs, Harry, Butler. 1.04 is OTC and I'm at 1.06. Guaranteed to get one of Monty, Sanders or Metcalf (I have Wilson and would love to pair them). I haven't seen Butler go that early anywhere yet, and I doubt he does in any of the other ones. I really would like to grab him in the early 2nd where I can.

Feel like I got outstanding value on both Harry and Murray but didn't exactly need either position. Needed Fant to fall but not doing backflips over my only RB.

Henderson at 1.07 again. Doesn't seem like such a reach when so many people are doing it. Granted he will have a high variance but if he is "your guy", might wanna just grab him when you can. Many of us have said we won't let him get past the late 1st.

Ugh yeah in my draft I have 8 and 12. Was planning on grabbing him at 12. Probably gonna have to snag him at 8 to be safe.

He’s not until 19. Still worried about a trade up or someone else just loving him as well. Tough call that I see a lot of people are struggling with here.
I'm of the opinion that I would rather "reach" for my guy and end up wrong about him than to get sniped and watch him blow up on someone else's team. The other thing is that by picking him at 8 that pushes whoever else you were thinking of taking down, potentially to your 12 spot. There will probably be at least 4 WRs and maybe one or both of the top TEs that would be available at 12. But just my ten cents.

Yeah I’m leaning towards doing that. I think Henderson can be a stud. Good point about it pushing someone else down.

I just don't understand why they need all the extra time to make a draft pick, especially the #1 pick. It isn't that difficult to figure out. Make your pick and don't hold things up.
i agree with you, but no point in getting worked up about it.  it's gonna happen in rookie drafts if no time limits are set.

Maybe he’s working a trade down?  When I burn timer it’s usually because I have offers out to owners who are less active than me and am waiting for replies.

So you have no problem with a guy being OTC for 13 hours with the 1.01 pick?
In May?  No.

Now, I realize some people are D-bags about it, but for the most part people make their intentions known.  They may say they are going to use the clock to near the end to field trade offers, or will say they won't be available to pick till they get home from work or a night out on the town or whatever.  If people do that, I dont care if they use 23 hours to make a pick.

Even if people say nothing, I still dont have a problem with it.

Maybe there should be some sort of overall clock, like 50 hours per team where if you use all 50 hours then you only have like an hour or something to make a pick the rest of the way.  Like a time bank.

As for pick 1, yeah you would think he would have a trade worked out by now if he was going to make one, or that he would obviously know his pick, but I still have no problem with someone using the clock.  You never know what sort of offer you might get.

Seriously, what is the hurry?  Why?  I and probably 90% of others simply do not get what is the damn rush.
